Sculpted over centuries by monks and monarchs, we are now carefully restoring four unique buildings within the grounds of the historic Ashridge House reimagined for modern weddings. Duke’s Yard will feature a landscaped courtyard leading to The Barn, The Coachhouse, The Stables and behind these we discover The Glasshouse.

From a light-filled ceremony in the restored Glasshouse to drinks in the new Dukes Yard designed by Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, every space offers something truly memorable. Feast on your wedding breakfast in the re-envisioned Coachhouse. Dance the night away in our 14th century barn and then enjoy an afterhours nightcap in the Stables.

Your celebration includes a complimentary stay in a superior suite, a seamless dining experience with reception drinks, a three‑course wedding breakfast, wine and toast drinks, and the support of a dedicated, award‑winning Wedding Co‑ordinator. With décor essentials provided, from tables and oak chairs to linens, tableware and signage, plus complimentary gym and pool membership for three months ahead of your wedding, every detail is thoughtfully taken care of.

We wanted a day that looked elegant yet stayed intimate and informal, so our guests could relax and still feel a little bit wowed. Laura and Sophie understood us straight away and helped shape a day that was traditional where it mattered and full of fun and personality everywhere else. We planned a day of two halves. A heartfelt ceremony first, then a full celebration of our friends, family and our 14 years together. The Monks Barn team ran the logistics so smoothly that we could add layer after layer without stress. Our drag queen host, the brilliant Cherry Bomb, looked after everyone and kept the day flowing. A surprise Kylie tribute had the whole room dancing. There were sing-alongs, inflatables and so many smiles. The photos are magic. We tried colourful smoke flares after a bit of research and a couple of tests. The team helped coordinate everything and kept outfits safe. The result is a set of images we will treasure. Personal moments made it unforgettable. Three close friends spoke during our ceremony instead of readings, and we heard their words for the first time on the day. It was the perfect mix of love and humour. Add great food and impeccable service, and you have a venue that truly delivers. Monks Barn gave us the best day of our lives. From the breathtaking scenery to the delicious food and outstanding customer service, every moment was just perfect. The venue itself is simply stunning — the fernery is just beautiful and has everything you need if you're after a more relaxed, boho-style wedding. It’s such a magical setting that made the whole day feel unique and effortlessly special. What really stood out was how well the Ashridge team catered for everything — including the weather! I never once felt worried about rain or unexpected changes, as they had it all covered with calm, seamless planning. Their recommended suppliers list is amazing — not only did they completely align with our style and vision, but they also worked within our budget, which made such a difference. Every supplier we used was professional, talented, and truly cared about making our day incredible. A massive thank you to Sophie, our wedding coordinator, who is INSANELY good at her job. From the very start, she made the entire process smooth and completely stress-free. She really listened to everything I wanted, gave brilliant advice throughout, and went above and beyond on the day. At one point, when my 2-year-old got a little upset, Sophie stepped in with her amazing motherly instinct and looked after him so my family could relax and enjoy the moment. That is 10/10 customer service! Also, a big thank you to Jamie and Libby, who were so helpful and kind on the Friday night before the wedding. They made sure my family (and the kids!) were comfortable, well looked after, and brought such a calming, friendly energy to the weekend. I genuinely cannot recommend Monk Barn enough — if I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat. If you're considering it, book a face-to-face tour. We loved it for many reasons but firstly you get to use so many different areas around Monks Barn as well - The Fernery for the ceremony, the lawns and gardens for lawn games and drinks reception, Fairhaven courtyard for ceilidh dancing and Monks Barn itself for wedding breakfast and evening band - which gives the guests variation and a nice flow to the day. Secondly every space is absolutely beautiful - the flowers and gardens were looking stunning (in July), the beams and interior of Monks Barn as well as the exterior of Monks Barn and the surrounding buildings. Thirdly, all the staff are thoroughly amazing, especially our wedding coordinator Jamie and the Kingfisher caterers - they were true professionals with so much experience and everything ran so smoothly because of them. We couldn’t have asked for a better day and we could never have found a better venue than Monks Barn for us - makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale. Everyone kept commenting on how beautiful the venue was! Also it is amazing for photos, there are so many different areas including loads of hidden gems to take beautiful photos and our photographer Sam Bennett was perfect at finding these spots and using them wonderfully. Lastly, the brides dressing room is really big and naturally lit which is fantastic :)We had our wedding in Monks Barn in July and we thought it was an outstanding venue. When will Duke’s Yard be ready for weddings?
Duke's Yard will be open for bookings from early summer 2026. Once open, Duke's Yard is available for weddings all year round on Saturdays and Sundays only.
How do I join the waitlist or register interest?
We are working hard putting the finishing touches to our Duke’s Yard wedding package. For now you can register your interest here and we will be in touch as soon as we have more information to share, expected early summer 2026.
What spaces will be included?
At Duke’s Yard, you’ll enjoy complete freedom and flexibility across our beautifully reimagined spaces; The Barn, Coachhouse, Glasshouse and Stables. A variety of outdoor spaces will be available too including Duke’s Yard, Monks Garden and the Glasshouse Garden. A brand-new honeymoon suite and bridal suite will also be included.

Will there be accommodation on site?
Our team are working hard to transform Duke’s Yard so site visits won’t be available before the venue is launched. However, if would like to be one of the first people to see Duke’s Yard upon launch, be sure to register your interest and we will be in touch with an exclusive invite in early summer 2026.
Will dogs be allowed?
We understand that dogs are part of the family. We allow dogs to attend the ceremony and drinks reception if accompanied by a chaperone and on a lead at all times.
