We recognise that no two weddings are the same, and therefore we tailor make your wedding day to suit you. Our dedicated wedding coordinator and team will work closely with you to ensure every detail is exactly as you dreamed it would be.

Hi, I have been with Makeney Hall hotel for a couple of years and love what I do. From meeting the couples at the first meeting, to planning, helping and guiding them along their wedding journey to being here on their special day.
always happy to answer any questions there may be along the way, may it be via email, phone call, booking a catch up meeting or even catching up with myself at wedding fayres or open evenings. It is always a pleasure to be here on the day with my couples too.

From the moment we arrived on Friday to leaving on the Sunday, everyone was brilliant, so professional. The breakfasts were delicious, the rooms were great and the buffet on the day of the wedding was delicious and plentiful. All our guests said they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and that the venue for the ceremony was perfect.I've been meaning to email you for a couple of weeks to thank you and your staff for all the care and time you put into making our daughters wedding such a special day. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
We had a Summer wedding (August 2024). The brides was absolutely lovely! one of the brides was from New Zealand so lots of her family came over to stay with us too. The people was so friendly, happy and the mood of the wedding was grate to be apart of. They Had the most amazing wedding entrance to the outside ceremony area, Zulu dancers walk the bride and her family down down signing and dancing with drums, it was a surprise to all their guest so was just brilliant. Even the wedding team couldn't help but dance along and coming out of the ceremony onto the main lawn was so energising. The whole day and night had such a good energy, with the most friendly and welcoming families.

Book what you love, this day is for you as a couple. Do what makes you happy and have the day as you have always imagined.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
we have a soft spot for real flowers! we know that everyone's taste and budget may be different but even just a fresh flower arrangement on the top table maybe the brides bouquet, just makes a small personal touch.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Woodland Garden Area, including our Romantic Cave and stunning views of the Amber Valley but we also have stunning gardens and little hidey spots great for a Romantic snap of the 2 of you!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
No we haven't but if you're a celebrity and love coming down to Derbyshire, we would be happy to have you. we do see all our couples as the VIP's of the day, its all about them!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Our Chefs Canapes are Delicious however the top 2 contestants would be the Blackened belly of pork in soy & maple syrup or our salmon rillette with beetroot and crème fraiche served on treacle bread.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Bacon Cobs is always a firm favourite we offer as a late night muchie!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
our Under cover Outdoor Ceremony Area is our most unique feature off the hotel offering weddings any time of the year outside and surrounded by beautiful gardens, you couldn't get any closer to nature, if fact it would be rare of you didn't spot a squirrel, bird or even a baby bunny on our gardens.
