Since the moment we booked Shauna was by our side every step of the way giving us advice and helping us plan our perfect day. We stayed the evening before the wedding and again all the staff were amazing and we had an excellent night. On the day the staff looked after all of our needs perfectly, Shauna again was there co-ordinating, and Aaron made sure that everything we asked for was sorted, so we could just relax and enjoy the day without any worries. Having a mother who previously was a wedding and events coordinator we know that the service we had at Hotel du Vin was truly exceptional as she was also able to relax the entire day and had complete trust in the staff from our pre wedding meetings. We can’t recommend this venue enough! It’s hard to put into words how incredible this venue was for our wedding. Would just like to say we had the best day all the staff were amazing who tended to our wedding, big massive thank you to Luke who went above and beyond he felt like our personal waiter from start to finish, from the buffet and to serving us drinks. Such a lovely and friendly guy and so enthusiastic a great asset to the hotel.We had our wedding reception here last wednesday and did not disappoint. Would just like to say we had the best day all the staff were amazing who tended to our wedding, big massive thank you to Luke who went above and beyond he felt like our personal waiter from start to finish, from the buffet and to serving us drinks. Andy and Adam were our incredible hosts, really informative about the wine but also really personable (and very generous with portions!) Couldn't recommend this enough! Shauna listened and helped us work out all the little details and supported on any last minute requests. The venue was beautiful and perfect for a small intimate ceremony. We had the whole thing in the Shipyard room as we didn't need a big space (only 13 of us in the day, and about 23/25 in the evening). We originally contacted Hotel du Vin because we wanted some private dining for after our ceremony, but after talking to the events team we were happy to see what was on offer to host our whole wedding at the hotel, and we couldn't have been happier with what Shauna and her team organised! Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
The best wedding at Hotel Du Vin was during the Summer months, the couple booked Hotel Exclusive including all 42 bedrooms. The couple started their day with arrival drinks on our stunning terrace area with a selection of bottled beers and prosecco. They then moved into the Bistro for their ceremony for 60 guests and followed with a celebratory drinks reception, again on our terrace. They opted for a spritz station with a choice of two cocktails for all their guests!
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
We would recommend a minimum of 12 months to plan the Wedding which gives couples a comfortable time frame to plan their day, vendors including wedding venues, photographers/videographers and florists can often get booked up quickly especially during peak wedding season.
Weddings can also be planned on shorter time scales if couples are looking to be flexible with their plans! Couples who are planning small weddings will also be able to work to a much shorter time frame with the support of the venue and suppliers.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Our favourite personal touch at a Wedding was when a Couple designed their stationary around their years together. Each table had a year for example Table 1 was a image and story of the Couple from 2024.

The Courtyard is a perfect space for your Drinks Reception and photos as part of your special day.

Truffle & Parmesan Arancini Balls are always a big hit!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Our favourite midnight treat are the delicious Bacon and Sausage which can also include Egg.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The Hotel du Vin in Newcastle was formerly the home of the Tyne Tees Steam Shipping Company. The Edwardian building has been converted into a luxury boutique hotel.

We are most proud of our Wedding team who work hard to deliver the perfect day.
