And moreHolmes mill holds a special place in our heart anyway as it was our first date spot so when we got engaged we knew there was only 1 place we had to have the wedding. From the moment we met with the events team there was nothing they could do, helping us bring our party to life! They helped in every which way and really made it as easy as possible. Our ‘on the day’ coordinator was incredible from managing timelines, laid back grooms and difficult family members she was absolutely incredible!! Our only sad thing is it’s all over! Given the chance (and the money) we would do it all again, exactly the same in a heartbeat! Thank you all for going above and beyond! We will forever be grateful! The venue is stunning, we had our ceremony upstairs and the actual wedding meal/evening downstairs in the piano room. We couldn't fault the whole day to the professionalism of the staff, the hotel rooms which were outstanding and even the breakfast the morning after was 10/10. The staff were incredible and listened to all our ideas/ requests nothing was too much trouble for them helping us plan our wedding. The venue rooms are stunning everyone who attended were impressed with the venue, food, and friendly staff where nothing was too much trouble they made our day so special. The wedding coordinators are all amazing, and quick to answer any questions. The staff who worked on the day of our wedding were amazing, especially Stella who ran the day (we cannot speak highly enough of her - our families have also mentioned how brilliant and organised she was!) The staff are all really professional, friendly and a credit to the venue. The food was amazing (we had the beer hall buffet) and we genuinely cannot find a fault with anything. Owen was particularly keen on the fact it was also a brewery and we both really liked that it was quite cosy and not overly formal. Also our decor was quite autumnal and wild (lots of dried flowers) so we thought that went well with the aesthetic! Everything went extremely smoothly on the day and we felt we were in good hands! How far in advance should we book our wedding at Holmes Mill?
We recommend booking as soon as you have a date in mind as our most popular dates can book up 18–24 months in advance. However, if you’re planning something sooner, don’t worry — our dedicated team are professionals in short-lead weddings and will support you all the way!
Do you offer bespoke wedding packages?
Absolutely. Every wedding at Holmes Mill is completely unique. Jess, our Wedding Sales Manager, will work closely with you to create a package that fits your vision, budget, and overall style perfectly.
What does the wedding day look like at Holmes Mill?
You can exchange your vows in our beautifully restored Cotton Room, licensed for civil ceremonies and full of industrial style. Or, if you’d prefer a traditional church ceremony, we’re perfectly located near two stunning local churches.
After your ceremony, your drinks reception takes place in our opulent, purpose built bistro – a glamorous space inspired by the 1920s. With its striking décor, grand piano, and an impressive cocktail bar stocked with all your favourites, it’s the perfect place to toast your new marriage and capture those gorgeous post-ceremony photos.
From there, you can choose to continue your celebration in the Bistro for a truly vintage, Gatsby-inspired experience, or – as many couples do – head back upstairs to the Cotton Room for your wedding breakfast and evening reception. With twinkling lights, incredible food, and space to dance the night away, it’s the perfect setting to end your day surrounded by the people you love most.
How many guests can Holmes Mill accommodate?
Our spaces are fully flexible. The Cotton Room can host up to 150 for your wedding breakfast and up to 180 for your evening reception. Most of our weddings tend to range between 60 - 80 guests during the day and an additional 20 - 40 evening guests, however, we welcome more intimate weddings of 30 guests and thrive at our max capacity weddings filling our venue with lots of loved ones!
Where are the best photo spots at Holmes Mill?
We are aptly coined 'The Photographers Dream Venue' with all of our cool and quirky photo opportunities. Most group pictures are taken on our beautifully lit festoon alleyway or our industrial chic' Cotton Room. For dreamy and elegant wedding pictures, we would recommend our wonderfully elegant Bistro, Engine Room or Chimney Room. As for the quirkier spots we have the HM bus, brewery, cinema, telephone box, bowling alley, elevator and industrial hotel spaces.
Can we bring in our own suppliers?
Of course. We have a trusted list of recommended suppliers who know our venue inside out, but you’re also welcome to bring your own — we just ask that they provide the necessary insurance and certifications.
Can we decorate the venue ourselves?
Definitely! The Cotton Room is a true blank canvas, allowing you to showcase your personality and style. We are happy to show you our galleries for inspiration as truly, no two weddings here look the same. Many couples/venue dressers utilise the pipes and beams to create incredible ceiling work and aisle backdrops are also a key feature we often see. Though sometimes the simplest weddings are the most breath taking allowing the rooms character to shine.
Is there accommodation on-site?
Yes! Our 1823 Spinning Block Hotel has 39 beautiful bedrooms accommodating 83 guests. We automatically reserve 20 bedrooms for your guests to book along with the Penthouse for you and your spouse to share on the wedding night. We do also reserve the Family Suite on the night prior for you to stay in and get ready in on the morning of. Any remaining bedrooms are booked on a first come, first serve basis.
Do you have on-site parking?
We do have a public car-park on site with up to 40 spaces. We are surrounded by lots of on street parking and 3 council car parks within 2-7 minute walk from the venue.
What does the booking process look like?
It’s simple and stress-free. Once you’ve had a show-round, chosen your date and paid your deposit we will confirm your wedding booking with us. From there, our team will be with you every step of the way. We typically meet around 6 months prior to the wedding to begin planning your day and again 4-6 weeks before the special day to firm up finer details, however, we welcome all our couples to reach out and/or come onto site as much as they feel they need during their wedding planning process.
