- MMegan & Sam27/11/2025No regrets with this venueNo regrets with this venueWe opted to go for the Shireburn due to the views and the amazing food, the Tolkien trail is one of our favourite walks and the venue is quite small so perfect for our short guest list. Sarah was a pleasure to work with and she was able to help us get the most out of what we had paid when we fell (quite significantly) short of the minimum amount of guests. The beds are also very comfortable and the service was brilliant. My only regret is not having the ceremony there. Unfortunately we didn't get any photos outside as it started raining as soon as we got there which, when marrying at the end of October in the middle of Lancashire we were asking for. It was the second venue we had visited and my heart was set as soon as we walked in. From start to finish Sarah was amazing with planning on such little notice, every email was responded to super quick and every request of mine was met. We stayed the night before with some close family and friends on the night before package. This was amazing value for money and could’ve fed and watered a village! We were able to set both ceremony room and dining hall up the night before so we had no stress the morning of. Everything went as smooth as could be and every little detail was beautiful. My guests commented how the food was the nicest they’d eaten, the menu choices were great and the drinks were lovely. We booked the hotel out for the night of the wedding for our guests and every single one said how cosy their rooms were. Every single thing from planning, changing the menus to suit, the drinks packages were slightly altered, every single thing I asked for was no trouble for Sarah! The grounds are so beautiful for photos we loved the timeless, classic style of the Shireburn and this was so easy to capture. We absolutely loved the whole time we were there and wish we could do it over! I would recommend a wedding here over and over! The venue, staff, facilities, location is just amazing and we honestly couldn't have picked a more stunning venue for our day. Every single guest continues to make comments on the venue , food and atmosphere. It has everything you could want for your special day. Our children had the freedom they needed to run around in the back garden and enjoy the day just as much as we did, as you know children can find weddings boring but they loved it and watch the videos and look at photos wishing we could do it all again which is just so lovely. Memories to last a life time!! I don't think we will ever be over this day, from start to finish it was magical, perfect and everything we dreamt of. The most perfect day we could have asked for!We had our wedding at Shireburn Arms in May 2025 and it was perfect in every way. Leading up to the wedding (for two years), we had regular check ins with Sarah, had contact to confirm details and were given lots of support and guidance. The venue is brilliant as it has the downstairs games room (which our guests loved) and also the outdoor area which is beautiful in both day and night. It is a venue that feels intimate but not small. We had 120 guests in the evening but it wasn’t rammed so we couldn’t move but didn’t feel empty. The food was incredible and the staff were so pleasant. The rooms are also gorgeous. We had our wedding at Shireburn Arms in May 2025 and it was perfect in every way. Sarah and Peter are fantastic can’t do enough the process prior to the wedding day is made very easy. Sarah who we had worked with throughout the planning stages for months wasn’t there on the day, which I felt a bit nervous about but Peter was very reassuring. I think it would help future couples to meet the person that they will be dealing with on the day in the final meeting just for a bit of reassurance. I believe this would help with the flow a little more for example The day before the wedding I was told to bring all of the items table plan etc at 3.15pm after loading the car and getting to the Shireburn Peter was surprised as I had turned up half way through a wedding nevertheless him and the team couldn’t be more helpful. On the day I felt as though the Shireburn may have been slightly understaffed there were a couple of mistakes ie ceremony room not set up as requested (the photographer helped rectify this) music not played in the right places, my 6 year old was given prosecco at his meal, the guests were allowed early check in which meant there were guests wondering around seeing me whilst I was between rooms after having hair and make up done. Even the email that I have received for feedback has the wrong grooms name on… I don’t know who gavin is 🤣 All just slight imperfections which didn’t hugely impact the day but I think it’s helpful for the venue to know. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
We had a Harry Potter themed wedding. They picked the venue for the countryside placement but also because the wallpaper in function room spoke to their love of Harry Potter. For the wedding breakfast they kept the theme quite subtle but then were able to go a bit more fun in other areas, we even had a Moaning Myrtle motif down in the toilets!
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Budget! Work out how much monthly it will cost and stick to it. Spreadsheets are amazing to keep track of all the ideas you have and bits and bobs from various suppliers you hire.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
I have two because I simply cannot choose. The first is when the table numbers were altered to different events that had happened during their relationship and how far away – in days – they were from the date of the wedding. This was lovely and so unique to them.
The second was seeing a bride read vows to the groom's daughter asking her to be her stepdaughter. There was not a dry eye in the building!

Cosy, Personable, Enchanting, Surprising, Flexible
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
There’s so many to choose from, in the garden on the balcony, with the gorgeous countryside back drop is always a firm favourite. Or, for an inside shot, by the fire in the cosy pub area is a great place.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We have had some sporting stars and local celebrities attend weddings with us. To us though, every couple and guest is a celebrity, on the day!
What’s your favourite canapé?
The apricot and sage sausage roll is a favourite of mine. For our vegetarian and vegan guests the beetroot falafel with, or without, the mint yogurt is amazing!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
I love all of our midnight feasts we have on offer but the cheese board selection is definitely my favourite. If you’re scared you might get nightmares though, the chips and dips is definitely a popular choice.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The breathtaking views across the back of our south facing garden! From the front of the building we look like an everyday little country pub. When your guests travel through the building, into the wedding space at the back, they are hit with the most spectacular views of the Ribble Valley countryside!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Everything! It is a package deal here at the Shireburn. You aren’t just utilising a small function room but rather the entire property. Weddings have access to our function room, our fantastic games room downstairs and the garden area during the day. Guests can then stay over and finish the celebrations with a wonderful country breakfast in our pub area. The staff in all areas work hard to deliver the best service for our couples to have the their day, just as they want it!
