Description
Groomes Country House originally dates back to the 1600s, having laid derelict for 25 years was restored to its former glory in 2006. The character and history of the property can be felt throughout and has created a wonderful backdrop for weddings and events since. With landscaped gardens and views over our hay fields, this really is a beautiful location for your big day.
We are fully licenced for ceremonies and have a choice of two locations depending on the number of guests and your preference.
The Coach House - The outdoor option, can seat 140 guests outside. Couple inside the coach house which is open on one side and glazed on the other for stunning views towards the South Downs National Park.
The Garden Room - The intimate option, an oak structure with glass on 3/4 sides. Can seat 50 guests inside and is directly linked to the house. This can also be used for smaller weddings in their entirety.
Both these areas have a sound system available.
We are primarily a marquee venue which allows us to be very flexible with numbers and the design of the day. Every wedding we do is tailored to your vision and budget, so this makes it difficult to provide an accurate costing without talking things through. But does give you endless possibilities from the catering to the entertainment and beyond. We have built up very good relationships with local suppliers, but are always happy to meet new ones.
The house has 6 spectacular bedrooms, all with en suit bathrooms. There is capacity to sleep 16 people.

Pete was so accommodating to all of our crazy ideas ensuring that everything was orchestrated to a tee including amazing ideas and suggestions that we didn’t even know we wanted. Pete, Ed and the team were so helpful in the lead up, and throughout the day, no job was too big - they couldn’t do enough for us. Every single one of our guests said how amazing the venue was, how well the day went and what a perfect and fun wedding it was! Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, the venue is beautiful. It was the day of a lifetime for us, a year later and our guests are still saying it was the best wedding they have been to.
