Less formal....More party :) The reclaimed vintage and rustic interior has been lovingly curated to bring you a truly bespoke venue that can host up to 225 guests. Licensed for ceremonies inside the barn, outside under the oak framed pagoda or exclusively by the riverside. Vernacular metals and timbers each with their own story, dotted with interesting antique finds, softened at the edges with flora and foliage. Chat around fire pits, retreat to bell tents and cabins set in meadowland down by the pond. Festoon lit outdoor space. Family run venue.

Making my vision become a reality, using reclaimed materials and re-purposing them in Ghyll Barn has been such an enjoyable experience. By designing and building this venue personally, you could say it was my passion. With a keen interest in festivals, friendships, food, music and fun times I wanted to create a place that focused around that vibe. I'm also a big believer in people just being themselves, enjoying who they are and being who they want to be. We're not formal or normal!

Prices start from £2750 for evening only weddings. Then pricing is simple for winter packages of £5640 and summer packages for £6060. Exclusive hire of the venue and its grounds. Day before set up, on the day co-ordination, all tables and chairs included! Hire of Ghyll Barn, the stone barn, licensed and fully staffed bar (draught) with all glassware included. Bridal pod for changing, festoon lit outdoor space, fire pit area, oak framed pagoda, microphone for speeches, full disabled access. On site camping.

We had our big day at Ghyll Barn on the 06.09.2025. All we can say is WOW and THANK YOU! From the very start Chris and Lisa were responsive to all of our questions and quickly got us booked in to view the barn. From there on out, communication continued to be amazing and Chris/Lisa made sure that they helped us plan the wedding of our dreams. It was really important to us that we could do a lot of DIY and that the venue was sustainable, and so Ghyll Barn ticked both of these boxes. Our weekend was incredible, with access to the barn from the day before to the day after. There was access for people to stay on site in tents or in lodges, which was incredible too. Chris took us up onto the hills for our wedding photos, and we got some gorgeous shots there. The venue was pure vibes all night and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. From the very first visit, we knew Ghyll Barn was the perfect place for our wedding – and it turned out to be everything we dreamed of and more. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking surroundings and beautifully designed spaces that created the most magical atmosphere for our special day. The staff were truly amazing – professional, friendly, and so attentive. Nothing was too much trouble, and they went above and beyond to make sure every detail was just right. Their warmth and care made us feel completely at ease, allowing us to truly enjoy every moment with our family and friends. So many of our guests commented on how incredible the venue was and how smoothly everything ran – a real testament to the team at Ghyll Barn. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place or better people to celebrate with. We couldn’t recommend this venue enough. We got married here in August and wow, from start to finish, planning to the actual day, everything was amazing thanks to Chris and his team. Genuinely nothing was ever too much trouble for them. This was the only venue we looked around and it did not disappoint. If you want a chilled, rustic venue then look no further. All of our guests absolutely loved the venue and commented on it throughout the day. We couldn’t have asked for a better day and we will remember it forever. Such a special venue Such a special venue
We recently had our wedding at Ghyll barn and loved every second of it. Chris and his team were so helpful and lovely during the whole process. The venue is simply stunning. We were lucky enough to have sunshine all day so a lot of the celebrations were outside with the beautiful views of the Eden valley. Wish we could do it all again. We were lucky enough to get married at Ghyll Barn last weekend and I quite honestly struggle for words for just how perfect it was. From the moment we met Chris and saw the incredible venue he has built we knew instantly that was where we wanted our special day. The surroundings are stunning, Chris and the team are amazing and there was just something so special and unique about Ghyll Barn that we knew it was the one. From the start Chris and the team could not have done more of us and made the entire wedding planning and organising so easy and stress free - they could not do enough for us. With true Cumbrian beauty and charm, the day was more perfect than we could ever have imagined. The sun shone over the fells and everything was so smooth and stress free - we didn't have to think about a thing and were just able to enjoy every second of our magical day. The venue looked beautiful and it was amazing to have so many spaces, from the stunning Larl Barn where we had our ceremony, to the beautiful outside area for our drinks reception and then of course Ghyll Barn for the wedding breakfast and a lot of partying! We cannot thank Chris, Lisa, Steve and the team more for everything they did and for creating truly the best day of our lives. Ghyll barn was the only venue we visited, we knew it was the one! It ticked all the boxes, beautiful outdoor space with hills and countryside all around but with plenty of indoor space ( should the Lake District weather kick in ) sympathetically restored and designed meaning it only needed the smallest touches of decoration! Chris and the team were so friendly and responsive throughout, as the experts in weddings they really helped us get organised and on the weekend itself we were so impressed with all the small touches that probably often go unnoticed but add to the overall aesthetic and experience from window cleaning to weeding! We are so glad we chose Ghyll Barn, all of our guests commented on the stunning location and great venue, everything came together and was just what we wanted! Ghyll barn was the only venue we visited, we knew it was the one! From the first time we visited Ghyll Barn we knew this was where we wanted to get married. We instantly fell in love with the venue, its character and the space. Chris (the owner) is amazing, so friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. Every detail reflects how much love Chris has put in to the venue. The bar manager Lisa was incredible and helped us to get everything organised in the lead up to our day. On the day Chris, Lisa and the team made sure everything ran smoothly. Our wedding was WILD from start to finish and the whole team joined in and were all so much fun to be around making it such an amazing atmosphere for us all. One of our biggest highlights was Chris driving up the hill in his Land Rover to catch the sun set after our meal. The pictures are amazing! All our guests had an amazing time and so many have asked for a second wedding day. Thankyou from the bottom of hearts for the best day of our lives! Chris and Lisa’s communication in the build up was brilliant - every time we asked a question (even on the day) the answer was always ‘yes we can do that for you’. On the day they were always on hand to make sure everything was running smoothly. So many guests have asked us if we can throw another party there as they loved the venue as much as us - we might make it an annual thing! Would fully recommend Ghyll Barn for anyone looking for the perfect venue for their wedding. Chris and the team are just awesome, really helpful, but also leave you to make the wedding completely your own.
