Welcome to Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway, we aim to give customers a special journey back in time. You can take a ride behind one of our vintage steam locomotives and try our dining options. Our trains take you through some of Yorkshire's finest countryside. We will do all we can to make your day extra special, we have a so many First Class dining options that you could include on your special day, and we will work closely with you to create a plan, and make your dreams and visions come true.

Being a little bit “vintage” ourselves, we were always determined to do things our own way—and this venue gave us the perfect setting to create something unique and personal. The atmosphere was pure magic. From the beautifully restored heritage carriages and onboard bar to the charming platform backdrop, everything came together to create a nostalgic and unforgettable experience. The team at the railway were fantastic, keeping everything running smoothly and to timetable. The catering and service exceeded all expectations. We enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea on the train for our Wedding Breakfast, followed by speeches on the platform—and yes, they even managed to arrange perfect weather for us! If you’re looking for a wedding venue that’s romantic, memorable, and a little out of the ordinary, Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is a hidden gem. We can’t recommend it highly enough. My bridesmaid and I arrived in style via the steam train from Embsay to meet the guests at Bolton Abbey. The train crew were wonderful, there wasn’t a thing they weren’t prepared to do for us to make our day special. Stephen Walker, the station manager, was fantastic both in helping us arrange our day but also ensuring everything went as planned. Sue from Heavenly Teas provided a superb high tea for us all and there was an abundance of beautifully freshly prepared food. Not once were we rushed and we were made to feel so very welcome and special. Words can not describe how amazing and unique our day was, we are just sorry it is over but we have the most amazing memories. We loved every second of our day on the wedding train ~ beautiful food, wonderful people, stunning scenery, spotlessly clean railway station and fantastic steam train.
