You are all a brilliant team and you Ryan were so

A very big thank you again to all the team at the railway for making the day so special, everyone said it was the best wedding they had been too, so many lovely memories. You are all a brilliant team and you Ryan were so helpful, especially when my daughter's boyfriend was slightly ill! And I know all the party revellers really appreciated late night kebabs.

we were made to feel so very welcome and special

We held our marriage ceremony and wedding breakfast at the railway ~ ceremony in the booking office and the reception on the steam train, Beatrice, as we travelled up and down the line. My bridesmaid and I arrived in style via the steam train from Embsay to meet the guests at Bolton Abbey. The train crew were wonderful, there wasn’t a thing they weren’t prepared to do for us to make our day special. Stephen Walker, the station manager, was fantastic both in helping us arrange our day but also ensuring everything went as planned. Sue from Heavenly Teas provided a superb high tea for us all and there was an abundance of beautifully freshly prepared food. Not once were we rushed and we were made to feel so very welcome and special. Words can not describe how amazing and unique our day was, we are just sorry it is over but we have the most amazing memories. We loved every second of our day on the wedding train ~ beautiful food, wonderful people, stunning scenery, spotlessly clean railway station and fantastic steam train. Thank you so very very much.

What is Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway Station most unique feature?

We have the pleasure of housing Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee Saloon which was built for the London and South Western Railway’s Royal Train in 1885 it was altered to become Queen Victoria’s personal coach in her Golden Jubilee year, 1887. She used it to travel from Waterloo to Gosport from where she journied on the Royal Yacht to the Isle of Wight to Osborne House. Several European heads of state used the coach when making a state visit to Britain. Following Queen Victoria’s death in 1901 it continued in Royal use for several years before being converted to a family saloon and eventually being sold as a body by the Southern Railway in 1930. From then until the 1980’s it was a home for a gamekeeper before being moved to various sites for preservation. Restored by Stately Trains at Embsay in 2017 it is being used on special trains to give passengers a taste of 19th century Royal travel.
