Dating back to 1322, Down Hall has a wonderful array of rooms and suites to host the most intimate of ceremonies, luxury wedding breakfasts and stunning receptions, most with panoramic views over our beautiful gardens.
Our Chef and his team have created the most delicious menus for your special occasion, using the freshest and finest ingredients either from our own vegetable garden or locally sourced produce, complimented by outstanding personal service from our staff.
Our dedicated Wedding Co-ordinators will guide you through your arrangements from the very first time you contact us, to the moment you take your vows. Every detail is taken care of and they come equipped with lists of recommended suppliers, creative ideas and years of valuable experience to help make your wedding day everything you could have ever dreamed of and more.
Our different wedding reception rooms can cater for parties of different sizes, with our largest room holding 150 guests and our smallest 32. Large windows provide a dramatic outlook onto our landscaped Hertfordshire gardens, creating the perfect backdrop for live music performances and dancing, following your first dinner with your friends and family as husband and wife.

We both fell in love with the location as soon as we arrived, driving along the beautiful drive, up to the magnificent house and well maintained gardens. Internally, the decor is luxurious with lots of ornate detailing and an abundance of natural light. Externally, the grounds are a perfect size with lots of interesting features for some memorable wedding photographs. The staff are extremely attentive both during the preparations and also on the big day itself. We felt confident that everyone knew exactly what was expected from them and nothing was too much trouble when you needed something. Particular mention must go to Maria (Wedding Coordinator) and Andrew (Toastmaster) who were exceptional throughout. Whether you are having a large wedding or more intimate day, we have no hesitation in recommending Down Hall and its staff, who went over and above making our wedding day so perfect.Down Hall was without question the perfect setting for our wedding in March of this year. The staff are friendly and helpful. Food is delicious and the rooms are spacious and excellent. We received lots of wonderful comments on our wedding day about the venue and the day itself. We had a lovely day! cannot recommend Downhall enough. If your looking to get married then Downhall is the place! you will not be disappointed. Marie our wedding co-ordinater was fantastic from Day one, she was always available and was happy to answer any questions I had, She was so helpful and just a really lovely person overall. It made the experience stress free (believe it or not) If you are thinking about getting married here and just can’t decided my advice is just to do it you will not be dissapointed. Our Wedding day couldn;t have gone better it was so well planned and everything looked amazing. Can’t fault the staff they were all fantastic, every single one. The rooms are lovely too and the food was exceptional. If I could do it all again I wouldn’t change a thing!From start to finish I can’t fault Down Hall! So many photo opportunities if the weather isn’t great on your big day as the grounds and interior are stunning. From the moment we drove up the main entrance we knew we had to get married here and that was before we’d even stepped through the door! The area getting ready in the morning was so beautiful, as is everything about this venue. The staff worked so hard to ensure our big day went without a glitch and the wedding planners are incredible and so accommodating – and clearly have the patience of a saint as we all know how stressful wedding planning can be! Nothing was ever too much trouble and the food was exceptional and the party in the evening was packed all night on the dancefloor, right through to closing at 1am and then the party afterwards in the hotel bar – our guests were thoroughly entertained. I only have great things to say about this venue – it was the most magical day and will always be very special to us. Thank you so much – I wish we could do it all again!Down Hall is faultless. We received such a wonderful service from all the staff. So polite and friendly even our guests commented on how lovely everyone was. What we loved most about this venue was the big deal the toast master makes over the bride/groom entrance for wedding breakfast and cake/cut first dance, it really creates a fantastic atmosphere! From the moment we went to the open day we loved how welcoming team down hall was and that nothing was a trouble and no question was a silly quesion. Marie our wedding co-ordinator is just fantastic (as are all the co-ordinators) she was professional but friendly and had a fantastic sense of humour which instantly puts you at ease. From the first initial planning meeting through to the big day it was pretty much very relaxed. The venue and grounds are stunning, the facilities are great, the food was delicious and overall we had the best time as did our guests. We certainly will keep going back to stay.
