Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa

Every single part of our wedding weekend was absolutely perfect from beginning to end but having Georgia as our wedding planner the outcome of that came as little surprise. From the very first moment we met her to writing this now she was utterly amazing. Georgia's professional manner is impeccable and yet it is delivered with genuine warmth and care and blends these three things in an understated way. I wanted everyone to know so she also could make sure to appreciate just how good she is!. All of her colleagues from the doorman to the bar staff to the reception team emulate the high standards.

We had a 2 night stay in an incredible Hideaway Treehouse (Chestnut) back in June/July, for our intimate elopement wedding ceremony which was held in the treehouse itself. This was our first time at Chewton Glen, and it exceeded all of our expectations - the treehouse was truly amazing, and it was so great that they offered the 'Just the Two of Us' wedding package as it was just perfect for us. The hot tub on the terrace was an added luxury and was very secluded, and the bed was so comfortable too with the most amazing bathroom and bath tub looking out onto the trees. Georgia, the Wedding and Sales Coordinator was just amazing from our very first contact, right through until she was one of our witnesses for the ceremony; she could not do enough for us and was super helpful and friendly throughout and made our stay, and the wedding day completely what we wanted, and more; Both her and Adam the Concierge Manager (our second witness) were both so lovely and made us feel very relaxed - whilst also providing delicious cocktails on the terrace afterwards! :) All of the staff were so welcoming and made our stay really special; thank you to... Joel and Ed (The Treehouse Concierge) who were so welcoming and unloaded our car and transported all of our luggage to our treehouse on a buggy for us, and back again on our day of departure. The housekeeping teams were always so lovely each time we saw them. Alice who looked after us at James' Martin's The Kitchen and Lewis who took care of us throughout our wedding day meal in our treehouse - thank you all! Our breakfast hamper delivery was made very discreetly through a hatch directly into the treehouse kitchenette, and was so varied and had all you could need, and much more - cereals, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, smoked salmon and juices etc - I'm sure the hotel could also adjust these to suit any dietary requirements (I'm pescatarian, and so ours did not include any meat). Perfect set up if you just want complete privacy. My (now) husband made use of the 9 hole golf course and I used the spa - both of which are lovely to have included within the hotel and it's grounds. Our small dog also joined us for the occasion, and it was amazing to be able to stay in such a spectacular treehouse and have it be dog friendly - he was provided with a lovely dog bed, dog toy, bowls and bottled water too! The grounds were great to be able to walk around, with or without a dog. Dogs are not allowed in the main hotel which is of course understandable, and luckily for us this worked well as we could make use of the beautiful terrace and rose garden as they are allowed to join you there and soak up the lovely weather. We would definitely love to return to celebrate once more at Chewton Glen, and hopefully experience one of the amazing treehouses again and see some of the lovely staff we met first time around. I cannot praise Georgia and her colleagues at the CG highly enough. We held our wedding there in the walled garden in June 2022 and it was just perfect. The team coordinated every detail, allowing us to enjoy the day free from worry. Upon our return to our bridal suite at the end, we were greeted with champagne on ice, a table of lovely gifts, signed book and rose petals. It’s little touches like this that make the difference. Nothing was too much trouble for Georgia and I just say the biggest thank you for creating those memories for us. It was such stuff as dreams are made on.

I don’t know where to begin writing this review since there is so much I want to thank The Chewton Glen for and the whole team there. Last weekend we had our wedding here at the hotel. Where do I start? Georgia Blacknell is truly this hotels superstar. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is too much trouble for her and since we organised this back in January 2020 we have experienced first class service from her and the team. We cannot credit her enough for keeping us sane at times when we thought we’d have to cancel due to covid. Every phone call and email was delivered with such enthusiasm and care making sure we had everything covered.... she even checked that we’d had eaten breakfast the morning of the wedding! Everything was organised for us, every request we made.. taken care of. Just amazing. The hotel itself is so iconic and impressed us from the moment we first visited. Every single member of staff from the person who met us at the entrance and took everything to our room, the check in staff... everyone you will encounter is attentive, caring, polite, professional and knowledgable about the hotel. We stayed in the Marryat Suite for the weekend and this suite is a must if you can stretch your budget to something more special (all the rooms have wow factor). It was immaculately clean and all the little extras left for us were just so lovely. I must now mention Lindsey... Lindsey looked after my wife and I from the moment we checked in on the Saturday... she was introduced to us by Georgia at our menu tasting afternoon a couple of weeks prior to our wedding. Lindsey is another true Chewton Glen star she knows this hotel inside out and knows five star service! Like Georgia nothing was too much for us over the weekend.. she helped me with the music for our ceremony with my old iPhone and made sure that my lack of technology presented no problem on the day ha! During our wedding breakfast Lindsey and Adam took care of all our family guests and nobody waited for anything. The food was beautiful, everything cooked to perfection, (and this is a family of foodies who will not hesitate to say if something wasn’t perfectly as expected!). We were socially distanced in tables of six in the Oak End Suite which we had been hesitant about initially, (pre Covid we had wanted the long table arrangement in this room) but ended up with this arrangement being absolutely positive on the aesthetics of the day and everyone felt safe yet close enough to enjoy conversations etc. When we checked out on the Monday the whole weekend had left us with memories we just couldn’t believe we’d made here and it ended up being quite emotional leaving. We only live down the road from the hotel, (luckily) but we will absolutely be returning again and again as there is so much to enjoy and be wowed at here. Five star everything!!! Thank you xx

We decided to get married at Chewton Glen back in January and planned our big day for June 2020. However, this was not to be the case. Georgia is an amazing wedding planner and was super supportive through all the uncertain times - guiding us through making our day special without being overwhelmed with the new circumstances. We moved the wedding to September. It was amazing!! The staff at Chewton Glen were on hand for everything For the day itself - especially Georgia, Adam and Lynsey!! The following days after the wedding we spent in the hotel’s suite that included a hot tub!! This was amazing - and we were looked after again by Lynsey with afternoon tea in our room! We were even able to rent a few DVDs to chill and watch. An amazing few days celebrating the start of our marriage. We can’t wait to celebrate our anniversary with you next year and every year to come!

We must have said ‘thank you’ a million times last weekend and we meant every one of them. I had a vision of how I’d like the wedding to be and you, Georgia, along with the rest of the hotel staff and suppliers made it possible. We’ve looked back on the messages in our guestbook and they all read 'the best wedding they have been to', 'the hotel is amazing', and ‘the food was delicious!' It truly was a breathtakingly beautiful day. We cannot begin to put into words what it is you did for us to ensure that our special day was indeed just that. We fell in love with The Chewton Glen when we visited the Open Day in November. You were there that first day making us feel as though we were the only couple in the room and guided us all the way through. You were there when I left for the service (and made me cry!) and there waiting for us when we returned as husband and wife. It has been our absolute delight to meet you and plan our special day with you. You are the perfect person for the job. The staff and hotel can’t be complimented enough but for us, you were and will always remain head and shoulders above that formidable team. We will keep following CGWeddings.

After searching for the perfect wedding venue as soon as we walked in to Chewton Glen we knew it was for us. Booking well in advance we had the delight of liaising with Georgia whose attention to detail, caring personality and superb organising made our day run perfectly. Adam and the team ensured that the wedding party had a superb time with drinks flowing and serving us amazing food along with a truly memorable experience. We stayed at the hotel for three nights in total and the amenities were exceptional. The spa is not to be missed and the kitchen offers a great alternative to the main dining. We cannot thank Georgia, Adam and the team at Chewton Glen enough for making the 09.08.19 the most fantastic and memorable day we could of ever wished for. Love Mr & Mrs Timson x

I know that I have sent Georgia a number of emails thanking you all and expressing our delight with our wedding weekend but we wanted to write more formally so that you have it in manuscript what ROCK STARS you all are and we don't have enough words to convey how wonderful you made our wedding weekend. Thank you so much for creating for us what was, hands down, the perfect weekend. You manage to combine class and sophistication with simple charm, out-of-this-world professionalism with warmth and endless personal touches, a place that looks like the poster-house for Home and Garden Magazine with a place that feels like our home. Perfect organisation and flawless service without a sense of itinerary and with smiles and enthusiasm that make it all seem effortless and delivering the best hotel experience any of us had ever had with fun, laughter and an abundance of character and kindness. From our initial meeting, it was clear Georgia was enthusiastic, detail orientated, and genuinely excited about our day. We went through our ideas and expectations of the day itself, all the while Georgia furiously scribbling my disjointed thought process. I stayed the night before the wedding and got a phone call to the room from Georgia before she left for the day, just to check in and see that I was ok which was very lovely and unexpected. On the day, Georgia was running around ensuring everything was taken care of, I didn’t even have to check I just knew she had it under control and that it would be exactly as I’d described to her in our previous meetings. Adam and Peter made up the team taking care of us for the day, from counting me in to my entrance, announcing us into the room as husband and wife, appearing out of absolutely nowhere to top up drinks, they too were instrumental in making our imagined day come to life. Every single one of our guests commented on how impeccable the service was, and how ‘well looked after’ they were. All agreed that the food was incredible. Not at any point did we feel as though a request was too much, and for that we are incredibly grateful to Chewton Glen and the entire staff team on hand. I would not hesitate to recommend Chewton Glen as your wedding venue. The rooms and grounds are stunning, and whatever you picture your big (or small) day to be, Chewton Glen will only enhance that experience for you. The Chewton Glen will always hold a special place in our hearts and the hearts of our family members.
