Hidden a few yards along a farm track sprinkled with delicate country flowers is Blackwater farm; the home of Bridle & Groom Weddings. We can’t hide that we are a working farm, with wandering chickens, baying donkeys and pygmy goats, but hidden at it's heart is a magical wedding venue secluded behind trees and hedges with a quiet trickling fountain, licenced woodland lawn and many unusual and exciting design features around every corner; from the large marquee seating 110 to the rustic and romantic Garden Wedding Room. We have complete wedding packages on offer which include not only the food; either Cornish farm fayre or a Blackwater hog roast, but also your wedding cake, bouquet and venue flowers, crockery, cutlery and table ware, rustic props, your personal wedding planner, Eq-wine, horse box bar, honeymoon Airstream Caravelle, campsite, golf cart transport and walkways for disabled visitors and everything else you need for an uncomplicated, relaxed day with your friends and family. We are here for the journey as much as the big day and want the decisions you make to be inspired by the creativity of the team, from your personalised cake to the scent of your natural confetti, we aim to please!

We are an exclusive venue, hosting just 15 weddings per year and open from March 15th to the end of September annually. We are currently organising on site visits for the end of March 2023, but we can also post a walking tour of the site to you with some up to date images of the ongoing improvements made on site if you would like to get in touch with us.

Every wedding we host must be the best wedding ever, as the emotional investment in the day by the Bride and Groom is enormous. We focus on each wedding as a blank canvas and identify the key elements which make it a dream come true for the happy couple. Recent requests we have achieved are romatic county scenes with oak trees by the stream, a Groom's ride on a seven tonne tractor, a gold leaf, brownie tower wedding cake...but one of my personal highlights was an unstaged walk down the aisle, behind the bride, by one of our chickens, closely followed by our farm cat!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Keep asking questions, don't be afraid to talk through every concern you may have with your venue and make sure the final plan for your event is given to you in writing to review and check. Communication is everything!

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

The memorial tables for absent family and friends are touching, couples have create beautiful photo displays using our barrels, wood logs and palettes and we raise a glass to remember them on the day.

Where’s the best photo spot at Bridle & Groom Weddings Ltd?

Photographers often tell us that they love visiting Blackwater farm due to the wide range of interesting and unusual photo opportunities. The marquee lit up at night is awesome and the hay bale, marshmallow roasting fire pit is equally beautiful. Photos of weddings held on the Woodland lawn or in the Garden Wedding Room are atmospheric and the donkeys, ducks, chickens and farm cat to name a few, seem to pose for photos and enjoy meeting the guests. The rare photos of our white doves taking off behind the bride is always a show stopper as are small bridesmaids in long dresses wandering through pastureland. The farmland at sunset creates wonderful opportunities for countryside, romantic shots as does the huge rainbows we have in this area of natural beauty.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Bridle & Groom Weddings Ltd?

Not yet, but we are are looking forward to the opportunity! Dick and Angel Strawbridge are our heroes/heroines and we think they should renew their vows with us!

What’s your favourite canapé?

Canapes! We serve Cornish farm fayre on this site, so if you want a hearty meal with scones, clotted cream, brownies, pasties and the best Blackwater sausage rolls you have every tasted, we are the site for you!

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Sitting cosied up in blankets on the hay bale seating, cooking chocolate S'moores over the fire pit, in Long acre field.

What is Bridle & Groom Weddings Ltd most unique feature?

We are a genuine, working farm with Spring Lambs and piglets. Out four donkeys love a cuddle and the goats never fails to amuse our visitors; they are so lively! Our meat is home grown and delicious and our produce is locally sourced for a best Cornish, Farm food experience.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Our venue has built entirely built from scratch by ourselves, everything has been sourced locally and is recovered, reclaimed or recycled but with a high quality finish. We are careful to maintain our Eco credentials. Our couples are aware that nature is precious and they can reuse our decorations, avoiding creating unnecessary landfill or buying single use plastics.
