Barley Wood House is a stunning venue in Bristol. Conveniently located just 4 miles from Bristol Airport and 12 miles from the city centre, this property offers couples the ideal blend of convenience, flexibility & style. Featuring beautifully landscaped gardens, panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and large function rooms, Barley Wood House has everything couples need to create the wedding celebration they always dreamed about.
Built in 1801, Barley Wood has a rich history and the property still has many of its original features. The house caters for weddings with up to 110 guests and has 2 function rooms, 9 large bedrooms sleeping up to 25 people, a self-catering kitchen, and a reception area. There are both indoor & outdoor ceremony options available. Nearlyweds can exchange vows on the stone terrace surrounded by their loved ones and with the picturesque Bristol countryside as their backdrop. There are 11 acres of woodland and beautiful grounds to explore and take photos in.
Alternatively, couples can tie the knot indoors in the bright and spacious ceremony room. After the ceremony, newlyweds can host a wedding breakfast in the house for up to 110 seated guests and 175 for an evening reception. There is also the option of erecting a marquee in the gardens for up to 200 people.
Every couple deserves something special on the wedding day, and Barley Wood provides precisely that. Our exclusive full weekend package ensures couples have time to decorate, dine & relax with family before and after the big day. Make it your own! Arrive Friday with friends & loved ones and unpack & decorate, prepare a dinner (or have a bbq!) and dine in our morning room or outside on the terrace and have a truly relaxing evening before your big day. Then on Sunday, don't worry about heading straight out. With checkout not until 4 pm on Sunday, you, your family and friends can rest, sleep in, have breakfast & lunch together, play lawn games, take it all in and leave with wonderful memories.

Hi, my name is Zach and I'm the venue manager here at Barley Wood. After I got engaged, my partner and I found and fell in love with Barley Wood and we fell in love with it. Months after we booked, when I saw Barley Wood was hiring for this role, I jumped at the chance and traded in my corporate consulting career. It can cost as much or as little as you like, and be as simple or extravagant as you please. I had my wedding at Barley Wood on the weekend of October 18th, and it was absolutely stunning. Zach and his team were a dream to work with, and everything ran smoothly throughout the day. The venue itself is beautiful; don't be discouraged by the blank canvas it presents. This flexibility allows you to design your day exactly as you envision it. You can tailor the costs to fit your budget and choose a style that is as simple or extravagant as you desire. You get it for the whole weekend, it has accommodation on site, a beautiful outdoor ceremony location, gardens, terrace, hall and dance floor. The multiple locations in the building make the whole day very smooth, the dance floor in particular was just perfect with our band! You can chose your own catering, we used Coexist (Bristol based) who were so perfect and lots of people seemed to like. We particularly love Zach, who works at BWH, who is so kind, knowledgeable and helpful - he made sure our weekend went so smoothly, we just had the best weekend we could imagine. We knew as soon as we visited that we wanted to get married at Barley Wood House. You get it for the whole weekend, it has accommodation on site, a beautiful outdoor ceremony location, gardens, terrace, hall and dance floor. Having the weekend to set up getting married and then pack down made me feel that they really valued you and wanted to make your day as special as possible. We absolutely fell in love with Barley Wood House when we first saw it (and met the brilliant Zach!) and we couldn't have asked for more. We had perfect weather to fully enjoy all the outside spaces and got married (twice!) in the summer house (officially with the registrars on the Friday and then by our good friend / unofficial celebrant on the Saturday). We wanted a family-friendly space and this worked perfectly. Being able to stay all weekend was the cherry on top - the bedrooms are spectacular and it was lush having our closest people with us for the whole time. Special thanks to Zach for his unflappable support, excellent advice throughout, quick replies and calm presence on the day, making sure it all went smoothly - legend; Connor for being a quiet trooper for the weekend; brilliant Bev and Steve for supplying the bar, and all our amazing suppliers who made it so special. The rooms have a touch of class and elegance yet remain homely and welcoming, if weather permits the outside garden is the perfect place to tie the knot, the views are breathtaking and frankly worth the monies alone. The upper hall makes the ideal place to hold the wedding breakfast, the house is steeped with history and is entirely welcoming and user friendly, along with the elegant upper rooms there is a wing with modern well equipped double rooms so you can ensure all the family can have the opportunity to celebrate together. No venue is of course ideal without the perfect host and in Zach you have a true support, we got to know Zach the house manager through the months leading up to the day, he is relaxed and efficient assisting and guiding as much and or as little as you require, his presence is very reassuring and nothing is too much bother for him regardless of the many questions and changes you might need to ask or make. This guy and his venue will ensure you have a day to remember without breaking the bank, yet leaving no stone unturned. On the day, we were made to feel at ease as if it were our own home, but we knew we could always get in touch if we needed anything. With 9 double rooms and 5 full bathrooms complete with roll top baths, we were delighted to be able to put up our friends and family for the event. The house has so much space and it is a no brainer to get hitched or celebrating here. Our day was outside as we had great weather, with garden games and entertainment. The bar staff were brilliant and we used Kate’s kitchen and Small Fire Pizza for the catering. I highly recommend them too. Thank you Zach, Connor, Bev and Barley Wood.What a venue! Zach, the venue manager, was amazing from the very start and kept us updated with what was going on right up through to the wedding day. The venue is absolutely stunning and I still can't get over how great the views are! Inside is just as beautiful as out and the fact we had it for the whole weekend meant that we were able to make it a proper weekend celebration with family and friends and also allowed us to add our own personal touches! I would recommend Barley Wood as a venue!I got married here at the end of may and it was incredible. Another advantage is the outside space and the two large venue rooms inside. You can get married outside like we did, or in the downstairs room. The guest rooms are incredible and huge, perfect for our wedding party to spend two nights. Our entire wedding was perfect and ran so smoothly thanks to Zak and team. I couldn't ever pick any wedding at Barley Wood as a single "best" as they are all so unique and they are uniquely created by each couple. That being said, Barley Wood House used to be a rehab facility and the first couple to ever get married here successfully went through that program and decided to spend their special day with us.

We're most proud of the fact that we're a charity and all of the money raised from weddings goes back into providing support, safe accommodation, education and employment opportunities for hundreds of vulnerable young individuals and families across Somerset and Devon.
