Vallum is unlike any other wedding venue in Northumberland, offering the relaxed, romantic feel of a country wedding with the convenience and cost-effectiveness of a permanent, well-established venue in breathtaking Hadrian’s Wall country just eight miles west of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. One of the many things which sets us apart from other venues is our flexibility. You might want to go all-out uber glam, rustic country, or kitchen garden cute or you may opt for a stunning fine dining feast, a beautifully bespoke buffet, or enjoy a laid-back barbecue. Because we have our own team of chefs we enjoy tailoring the menus to suit your style. Smaller weddings are beautifully suited to our lovely Tipi, while bigger events from 40-160 are hosted in our large converted barn – a permanent ivory lined billowing space with glass windows all down one side to make the most of our deck, lawn and beautiful country views, we even have a lake for that romantic water photograph. All our celebrations are catered for by us in our state of the art kitchens. Our passion is food. Whatever you have in mind for your wedding day, we can work with you to perfect your menu and show off our skills. Some couples have gone for bangers and mash, others have chosen Persian banquets. Over the years we have won many Taste Awards for our home baking so if Afternoon Tea is your vision, you are in the best hands! Couples who choose Vallum are looking for a less formal vibe with great service. Couples love our hands on approach and how we welcome you into our family when you make us your wedding home. We are great at organising and every step of the way is clearly documented so that on the day our team all know exactly what is going on at any minute of the day, so you don't even need to think about it. There was strong winds and lyndsey was great at keeping it smooth with no stress! All the staff were helpful and polite made it run so smoothly everything we could wish for and more. The day ran like clockwork and Lyndsey worked her socks off. The venue was stunning and the food was amazing. The only thing I would have changed would have been for the clock to stop ticking as the day went by so quick. Highly recommend. Lyndsey and the whole team were amazing from start to finish. When looking for a wedding venue, we viewed so many and Vallum was our last one. The minute we walked in, it felt perfect. The relaxed feel it generates was what we were looking for. I wish we could relive the day over and over ! Thank you so much for everything. As the wedding grew nearer I started to worry if we’d made the right decision getting married later but honestly it was just the best day, there was no boring lull in between the meal and the party, everything just flowed perfectly and we loved every single second of it! Lyndsey our wedding coordinator made sure we got some of the canapés so that we had eaten which was really thoughtful. All the staff were brilliant, they couldn’t do enough for us and worked really hard. A lot of our guests came up to us and said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to and they loved how the day went. I would recommend Vallum to everyone, it really was the best day of our lives! What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Talk to the venues, they have seen a lot of weddings and they will have an idea of what works best. Get tips from all your suppliers and make them do the work! Thats what we are here for.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
A picture of a loved one who was no longer with the family, in pride of place on our dresser.

Tricky one .. the avenue of trees is amazing but then theres the lake .... !
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We helped Denise Welch organise her Father's 80th birthday at Vallum .. that was some party!
What’s your favourite canapé?
The new hot smoked salmon tortilla we are making in the kitchen are just mouth-wateringly delicious, but then so is the flat iron steak canape with charred aubergine ..
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Pulled pork bun with slaw and pickles
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our converted barn has been interior designed to feel quirky and cool. The glass frontage which looks out over our marquee lawn and kitchen garden is just stunning as its 24m long!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
The staff. They are just amazing. What a team.
