Tythe is an outstanding wedding venue and estate, set in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, owned and run by the same family for over 500 years and specialising in 2 night weddings. Nestled on the Deeley family's working farm, the idyllic rural setting is hopelessly romantic, incredibly proud of it's sustainability credentials and offers couples and their guests an opportunity to adapt the setting to suit their own requirements. Think game-changing spaces where you can prep, party, marry and relax. The centuries-old barn, cosy farmhouse and experienced team - they've been running weddings since 1998 - allow couples to select from multiple packages that will ensure couples and their loved ones can enjoy a wonderful wedding experience from single nights to multiple days on weekdays or weekends.
Ceremonies
Tythe is licensed to hold ceremonies in a variety of beautiful settings, both indoors and outside, for up to 150 guests. The 14th-century Thatched Barn offers a romantic backdrop with oak beams draped in fairy lights, Cotswold stone walls and crystal chandeliers, whilst outdoor aisles drenched in Wisteria or an avenue of Silver Birch trees create a breathtaking canopy for your ‘I do’s’. Next door to Tythe sits the impressive 12th-century village church with a garden path running directly from the gardens.
Reception
The Thatched Barn boasts a 150-seated dinner capacity and up to 200 plus for the evening party. Gathering together to feast with family and friends is what Tythe weddings are all about. Sensitively brought into the 21st century, the barn provides an impressive backdrop for your wedding breakfast and some serious charm for revelry later on!
Tythe is passionate about its past but embraces today’s technology. The barn is equipped with a Bose sound system, dance-floor lighting, a luxury, fully-stocked bar, an evening lounge, and, should you want it, a huge disco ball! As dusk falls, cosy up on sheepskin-clad pews by the outdoor wood-burners, graze on wood-fired pizzas, and sip an Espresso Martini beneath the festoons!
Accommodation
The Farmhouse, family home of the Deeley family for over 500 years, sits at the hub of the Tythe estate. The impressive 17th-century boutique house offers thoughtfully designed interiors, seven luxury en-suite bedrooms, including a honeymoon suite with a roll-top copper bathtub, a large country kitchen, reception rooms with open fires, a tennis court, a wonderful wood-fuelled hot tub and an adjacent Shepherd’s Hut (with room for two more).
Add to that the elegant Dressing Room, with its own Champagne Bar and the ground floor Powder Room and Nightcap Bar, and there’s plenty to keep the couple and their guests entertained!
Resident breakfast is included, and one, two, or three-night stays are available. The total sleeping capacity is 21 with optional supplementary beds for under-12s, or 25 if you include the adaptable Nook and Lodge (by prior arrangement).
Food and Drink
Food is at the heart of every celebration and our In-house catering team believe a wedding calls for an extra special dining experience.
Tythe’s in-house catering team, Absolute Taste, delivers a wedding feast full of flavour, showcasing fresh, seasonal ingredients. Whether your vision is five courses of fine dining or a hearty, home-cooked dish to share, menus can be tailored to your taste.
Alongside Absolute Taste menus, Tythe stock an extensive selection of international, regional and local wines, beers, premium spirits and soft drinks. Fancy some cocktails to kickstart the evening? Tythe’s experienced bar team are on hand to mix, shake, and stir whatever you’re in the mood for, or to create something special just for you!
My own, of course - (my husband would kill me if I didn't say that!!) Other than ours I can honestly say, because they're all so different and because we go through the planning journey with every couple and it's like members of your own family getting married, the emotions are so intense and real so... each wedding is special to us!
Relax - let us do what we do best and plan and organise your day!!
When a bride showed her mum and Grandma her positive pregnancy test from that morning - and they all stood and weeped with joy in our gardens!
Relaxed, professional, gorgeous, personal, award-winning!
It's 14th Century and full of character so really it's... Everywhere.
Not saying...
One that fits in neatly in one go, no mess!
Personally? Butter on white toast - honest!
Our family have owned the venue for over 500 years and it has evolved with the times! Hosting celebrations in a 14th Century barn during the 21st Century!
Our staff. Their dedication. Our team spirit.
