Merriscourt, home of Thomas Astor and his family is nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds on the borders of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The panoramic views are breathtakingly beautiful all year round and this makes Merriscourt a perfect location for your Wedding day. No two Weddings are the same at Merriscourt and the Event team pride themselves on listening to what our clients want and delivering their special requirements and wishes. Merriscourt combines traditional Cotswold style with elegant light, spacious interiors. It is the perfect environment for expressing your personality and creative ideas for your Wedding. Each of the barns are inter-connecting and open on to a beautiful flower-filled courtyard which means your guests are never too far from the celebrations. All three barns have their own individual characteristics giving your guests a surprise as they enter each barn.

The price of the venue hire differs in low and high season as well as on Bank Holiday weekends. Our low season is January - March and November - December. High season is April - October.

- LLena & Oli27/03/2026Beautiful venue and amazing staff!!Beautiful venue and amazing staff!!Merriscourt is a beautiful venue with great layout for all the parts of your wedding day! The ceremony room Stone Barn is so classy and beautiful that you don't really need a lot of extra decorations to make the ceremony feel special and we got a lot of compliments from our guests on the space. If the weather permits they also have a lovely courtyard which was just perfect for drinks reception in the sun. The team at Merriscourt was amazing and made the wedding planning process way less stressful than it would have been otherwise. From designing the wedding timeline with us and explaining all the details (we haven't been to many weddings before ours so we were quite clueless) to amazing coordination on the day of taking care of all the details and dealing will any the issues as they come up - they practiced with my bridesmaids walking down the aisle and tremendously helped with timing on the ceremony itself; Paige also heroically bustled up my dress after my mum and friends gave up on trying to figure out all the little buttons. The food was also delicious and the portions were bigger than what we expected given the quality and high-end feel of the dishes. The chefs were also very happy to work with me to include my cultural food for the wedding breakfast which ended up being lovely. It was also amazing to have housing available at the venue which made the morning of much less stressful as a lot of our family and the bridal party were all already there. They also have a gorgeous space for getting ready for the Bride - the day felt very special from the very beginning to the end. I couldn't recommend this venue more. Paige and the team work like little unseen elves to make every single detail PERFECT. They go the extra mile, care so much about the couple, are so passionate and it really shows with how seamless the whole day was. From the very first meeting, as the bride, I couldn’t have been more relaxed because they were there every single step of the way, down to putting together final decor less than 12 hours before to avoid disaster! The FOOD deserves a 5 star review just of its own. Every single guest still talks about the food months down the line - we all have withdrawals! I had never been to a single wedding before ours so I really was going in blind but with Paige and the team guiding me and advising me every single step of the way, we pulled off the wedding of DREAMS. Every guest couldn’t believe the venue, the details, the level of service. Merriscourt will hold the dearest place in my heart forever and I’m so grateful to have chosen it for such a beautiful memory. I can only hope I get to attend more weddings there in future! They were responsive, personal, friendly and really showed genuine care about you, your guests and your day. Paige on the day was a brilliant, calming presence and was there to meet us/help us set up the day before. She always seemed to be exactly where we needed her to be - Sometimes BEFORE we knew we needed her there! She showed genuine care and it was like she was our best friend for the time we spent with them. In fact, all of the Team were! Everyone was lovely, and cared. We didn't want to leave! We ended up chatting with Emily for a good 15 minutes before we left, and it felt like we were just having a Gab with a Friend! The day ran so smoothly or, if it didn't, we did not notice. The venue is stunning, that goes without saying, but the Team are fantastic. If you are hesitating about booking this for your Wedding - Don't. They will look after you brilliantly. My Husband (eek) is a Chef so had high standards when it came to the Food - This was the most important thing to him on the day - and the Chef was fantastic. The onsite accommodation was so useful as well, with so many people having come in from far away. The venue was very communicative and easy to work with. Our only feedback would be that the menu taster option should be reserved and available for all couples booked within the two taster sessions so that there is the option for every couple to enjoy the event rather than missing out due to lack of space. The venue was just stunning, we had so many guests say how beautiful everything was. The onsite accommodation was so useful as well, with so many people having come in from far away. We got married here just over a week ago and are constantly wishing we were back there living the day over and over again. We shortlisted a few venues in the area, none came close to having the personal and familial vibe as Merriscourt and this was wholly down to Paige, Emily, Georgia and the wider team having been amazing throughout the whole process, with Paige being our go to throughout all the planning meetings and visits during the preparations – she is the best! The venue is stunning, it is exactly what we wanted – a timeless Cotswold stone barn with plenty of space and onsite accommodation for our families and friends to be able to stay with us for the event, we also held a rehearsal dinner the night before which was a great opportunity to bring the two sides of the family and friends together before the big day. The food was incredible and we’ve had compliments from all our guests on how tasty it was. The team were very flexible and accommodating with menu choices, décor and timings throughout the day, there was always someone on hand to support with any queries, both in the lead up and on the big day, and the staff serving food and drinks were brilliant. The expanse of the venue allowed us to have a number of different backdrops and settings for our photography, of which we are so excited to get back! Yes, Merriscourt provides on-site accommodation at an additional cost for the couple and selected guests, making it convenient and stress-free, especially for multi-day wedding celebrations. There is no minimum amount of accommodation that must be taken and can be booked for either one or two nights, depending on availability.
Can we have an outdoor wedding ceremony at Merriscourt?
Merriscourt offers beautiful outdoor ceremony options on the wedding lawn with gorgeous views of the Cotswolds, or in the Courtyard, as well as indoor barn spaces, giving you flexibility whatever the weather.
What catering options are available at Merriscourt?
We have our own team of chefs in house who can create bespoke menus for each of our couples. We do not allow external caterers.
Is Merriscourt suitable for winter weddings?
Absolutely. The barns at Merriscourt are all interlinked and specifically designed for year-round weddings, with full heating and cosy interiors that create a warm and atmospheric setting during autumn and winter. And let's be honest - it's not just winter time that we have to think of wet weather plans!!

Merriscourt is located in the North Cotswolds near Chipping Norton, making it easily accessible from Oxford, London, and the Midlands while still offering a peaceful rural setting.
How far in advance should we book Merriscourt for a wedding?
Popular dates at Merriscourt, especially summer dates, can book up 12–24 months in advance, so early enquiry is recommended to secure your preferred date.
