The Priests House is often called a ‘fairytale’ venue, combining the authentic grade-1 listed 15th-century Chapel with the beauty and tranquillity of the Yorkshire Dales countryside, and we truly value that. Although situated in a magical location, our dedication & drive to deliver outstanding service, keen attention to detail and delicious food is completely real.
We love weddings. We have hosted weddings at The Priests House for over twenty years now - first in the Oak Room and then inside the Chapel after we restored it in 2016. After all these years we still never tire of guests first reaction when they enter the Chapel for the first time, or of being a part of people's joyful memories and important days.
We are proud of how professional and friendly our team are, of the packages that we provide and of our desire to keep improving and offering the best possible venue to host your special day.
When you choose The Priests House as your wedding venue, we promise:
- Exclusivity of the grade-1 listed venue, with no other weddings or customers on the day. This includes use of The Oak Room, The Chapel and our beautiful and peaceful grounds
- A mesmerising space for weddings of all sizes – whether an elopement for the couple to a maximum capacity of 76 for a wedding breakfast and 85 for the evening reception
- No shortage of incredible backdrops for your photo's, both on-site and in any direction off-site
- Use of our large portfolio of decorations and our creativity to make your wedding day look spectacular – the vast majority of décor is included as part of your wedding, so you do not need to use your wedding budget buying loads of decorations (unless you want to!)
- An experienced and empathetic team to help guide your planning and to coordinate your wedding day – we are hands on owners, and we take yours and your guests experience personally
- A venue that appreciates that all our important life celebrations happen around beautiful food – so we employ a fantastic kitchen team to provide just that
- A team that ensures a smooth and helpful experience for your suppliers so that they can focus on what they do best, whether capturing enduring moments or bringing the party!
- A venue that appreciates & delivers on the little touches – the comfort of a blanket and firepit on an Autumnal evening, an umbrella at hand on a rainy day, fire torches lighting the path on a dark evening, iced water at the ready on a Summer’s day (if British weather plays nice) and a welcome smile to help guests know where to park and where the front door is ready for them.

The venue is just breathtaking, everyone commented on it and we were like 'yes, we know!!' Haha. The decor looked great, our vision came to life and surpassed my expectations. The food was stunning. My maid of honour cleared every plate, and with a tight dress on that was a big deal!!! Please pass all our compliments onto Mark (the chef).What can we say, I don't know where to begin to thank you for all your hard work and making our wedding day the best day of my life! The venue is just breathtaking, everyone commented on it and we were like 'yes, we know!!' Haha. The decor looked great, our vision came to life and surpassed my expectations. The food was stunning. All the team were super helpful especially Conor who ensured our day ran smoothly and kept the groom calm. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone had an amazing day. With a young family the barn worked perfectly for us as a base and to continue the celebrations after the wedding. Couldn’t speak highly enough of the venue and team and have already recommended the venue to friends who are booked in for next year. Thank you everyone. They catered not only for an outstanding venue and location but the flowers too. I adored the bouquets, the font and all the decor provided. The colours in the flowers were perfect I couldn’t have chosen anything better. Food (also provided by The priests House) was gorgeous and plentiful!! From the first day we came to visit we felt comfortable, welcomed not pushed or sold anything totally at ease. Communication up to the wedding was great and the day ran perfectly. No words really do our day justice but perfect venue, perfect decor, tasty food, great staff all made an amazing day that even a few rain showers couldn’t spoil.It was an absolutely amazing day. The venue looked absolutely stunning inside and out, the little touches to detail just made it all come to life. Our flowers were done by one of the owners and they were absolutely gorgeous! Knowing that they were grown on her own allotment made it even more special. We still maintain it is the best roast beef we have ever eaten! We would highly recommend the Priests House for a wedding celebration to anyone! We had a very small wedding - 11 guests - and our day was exactly the relaxed, intimate, magical day we had hoped for. The flowers were incredible, the venue dressed perfectly, the food delicious, and Connor and Kat made the wedding run so smoothly we can't thank them enough. I still feel tearful thinking about how perfect it was and how I'd like to go back and experience it all again!From start to finish, the team here was amazing. We had a very small wedding - 11 guests - and our day was exactly the relaxed, intimate, magical day we had hoped for. The flowers were incredible, the venue dressed perfectly, the food delicious, and Connor and Kat made the wedding run so smoothly we can't thank them enough. They were kind enough to let us move the date 3 times due to COVID and were always friendly and helpful during the planning. The venue is so beautiful and perfect for an intimate wedding in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. Debbie prepared such lovely flowers that were just as we had asked for. On the day Conor and his team were absolutely terrific and went above and beyond to make sure the day was everything we could have hoped for. What is your venue's most unique feature?
Its uniqueness. The venue and site is grade 1 listed being part of the curtilage of Barden Tower. It has that genuine historical ambience whilst also having subtle modern improvements.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
The personal touch we bring to weddings. Also the refurbishment of the Chapel - taken 12 years to get there but well worth it.
