An incredibly special place, Stanbrook Abbey offers atmospheric ceremony rooms, boutique interiors, glorious gardens, an orchard, bell tower and enchanting lake. Our ‘Wow factor’ is the breath-taking Callow Great Hall, which can be booked to hold a civil ceremony, offering all the opulence and charm of a church.
After years as a closed order convent, Stanbrook Abbey is now open following an extensive and sympathetic refurbishment which has restored it to its former splendour. Constructed of red brick with stone dressings and gothic windows, its interiors are mesmerising from the beauty of the Callow Great Hall with its lofty vaulted ceiling and vivid stained glass windows.
The grounds at Stanbrook will really enhance the atmosphere on your special day. From the beautiful, lavender- filled, butterfly garden, weeping willow trail and private lake to spectacular vistas of stunning landscape and rolling countryside, the external space will impress guests and offer countless opportunities for picture perfect photos and romantic moments.
The Abbey is spectacularly set up to make a whole weekend out of your wedding by staying the night prior as well. Our five bedroom Manor House is an entirely separate house specifically designed for the needs of a Bride and her Bridal Party for the night before and the morning of your wedding the only thing that connects it to the Abbey is the secret walkway straight to our Ceremony room so there is no danger of anyone seeing you until you’re walking down the aisle.
And it’s not just the bride who has a space of her own. In addition to the extensive luxury accommodation for guests, there is Papa’s Snug which is a refuge for the Father of the Bride to perfect his speech and a Groom’s Room for the Groom's party to also prepare for their big moment.

Our Co-ordinator Jodie from Stanbrook Abbey was absolutely phenomenal! She ensured that we had everything we needed, right down to the last detail. The whole process was made with ease. You are provided with meetings throughout, an amazing taster session and even discounts for your guests who plan to stay at the hotel on the night of Wedding Day. The staff were brilliant; they met all our needs and requests. The rooms were aesthetically gorgeous and comfortable. My bridal party and I stayed in the Outstanding Bridal Manor the night before, and my husband’s groomsmen booked the basement where they played games, utilised the snooker table whilst enjoying fabulous food. The order of the day couldn't of run smoother! Clyde our co-ordinator on the day of the wedding was so kind and considerate. The staff were professional and worked in unity. All our guests expressed how much they felt like Royalty! And the building! Absolutely Extraordinary!! I cannot thank you enough Stanbrook for making our day sooo Special!! When we got engaged, we knew straight away it was where we wanted to get married. The great callow hall is a stunning venue that enabled all our guests to see and hear the ceremony. We then had our drinks reception outside, followed by an amazing wedding breakfast in the pavilion. So many of our guests commented on how great both the food and service was. Everything was kept to time which meant guests had an hour to check into rooms and freshen up before the evening. Our reception was then held in St Anne’s and again, food on the night was superb. We had our perfect day and we cannot thank the team at Stanbrook enough. From the initial conversations, they understood our vision for the day and made sure every little detail was included. Wish we could do it all over again! We recently had our wedding at Stanbrook Abbey and it truly was the most perfect day. The staff couldn’t do enough for us on our big day and it flowed so smoothly. There was always enough people around to serve food and drinks throughout our day. Our wedding planner Jodie Boyd was incredible and nothing was too much trouble for her leading up to our wedding and on the day. Our events manager, Caitlin was also a dream to work with and she made sure absolutely everything went to plan throughout the day. - SSam & Dave13/07/2025Best day ever Best day everWe just had our wedding at Stanbrook Abbey in June and honestly we had the time of our life - from our very first encounterrr being shown round the stunning hotel 18months ago to our perfect day that went without a Hitch! Nothing has ever been too much trouble, Liza looked after us in the lead up to the wedding and honestly I don’t think I’ve ever been treated with more respect in my life! She was all over everything happy to answer any questions I had even if they were silly and a year earlier than they needed to be asked or worried about she was just incredible, then on the wedding day we had Clyde as our event manager and he was honestly the best he’d appear out of nowhere exactly when you needed him as if he just had a sense you needed something - to the main wedding party he was attentive, kept us and our day on track, helpful, and so fun - to our average guest they didn’t even know he was there he blended in so well - he ran our day perfectly and was our favourite person on the day ever! In terms of the food in the lead up to the wedding we had quite afew meals at Stanbrook and we have never once had a bad meal and our wedding menu was nothing short of exceptional! the staff were incredible every single one was respectful, gave amazing service and played a key role in making our day go without a hitch, the venue speaks for itself it’s gorgeous and every single one of our guests has since said it’s the best wedding venue they have ever ever been to. I haven’t had a single negative experience and I’m not doing this review with rose tinted glasses on because I’m so happy I’ve just had my wedding - I say with all sincerity NOTHING WENT WRONG THE WHOLE WEEKEND WAS PERFECT SMOOTH SAILING and the wedding went without a single issue!! - MMya13/06/2025The most perfect intimate civil!The most perfect intimate civil!Myself and my husband made the best decision picking Stanbrook Abbey for our civil. We were looking for a venue which was able to provide a package for a small number of guests and to accommodate our dog Caesar. Stanbrook Abbey provided all of what we wanted! The grounds are absolutely stunning with a rich history and the rooms are spacious with a modern twist. My entire family were impressed with the grounds and thoroughly appreciated help with any requests made on the day. We really do miss our wedding day so much! Special thanks to Jodie and Clyde who were an absolute pleasure to work with!Myself and my husband made the best decision picking Stanbrook Abbey for our civil. The venue is a mix of tasteful, modern decor combined with the more traditional features that you’d expect from a former nunnery. We completely fell in love with the callow great hall, it’s simply stunning. Caylie and the rest of the team are superb. During the run up to our wedding, Caylie was always available by phone or email if we had any questions or queries, no matter how small or trivial. The team really helped to ensure that our wedding ran smoothly and without a hitch. During the menu tasting session, we were blown away by every aspect. The decor, the wine selection, the restaurant staff, and of course the food. We chose 3 of each course to taste, and to say we struggled to choose was an understatement! Each dish was freshly prepared and presented beautifully. The flavour combinations were amazing, we easily would’ve been happy with any of them! Our actual wedding day was just perfect! Again, the team were spot on. We were kept informed every step of the way and felt comfortable and confident that the day would run smoothly. All of our guests commented on what a beautiful wedding it was! Thankyou Stanbrook, you truly are a dream wedding venue and we are so pleased that we got to spend our special day there! Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The Lovers swing hanging from the willow tree overlooking the lake is the perfect spot for a romantic moment to be captured. For our winter weddings some of the best photos have been taken in our striking cloisters.
