Located just 2 miles outside of the historic walled city of Chester, our hotel is a stunning and versatile venue that is perfect for your wedding all year round.
Our landscaped gardens have breath-taking views of the rolling Cheshire countryside and Welsh mountains, providing the idyllic backdrop for your dream wedding.
We offer a variety of packages which are all fully customisable to create your perfect day. You may be dreaming of a classic wedding or perhaps looking for something a little different such as an informal festival style. However you envision your day our team are here to help you turn it into a reality.
We offer flexibility on all options from food and drink to dressing and timings so that our couples can truly get the day they deserve.
Looking for an intimate day, not a problem, we can host weddings from just 2 guests. Want the big day to be as big as possible, our suite can comfortably hold 200 guests.
We only host 1 wedding per date so you can relax in the knowledge that you have the undivided attention of the super friendly team throughout your day.
Plus with 126 onsite bedrooms it couldn’t be easier for you and your guests to stay and carry on the celebration, perhaps adding on a pre wedding dinner or a breakfast brunch the morning after your wedding.

I was turning 30 and wanted a big disney themed 30th birthday. I could decorate how I wanted, nothing was too much trouble, food was great, dj was fab! Everything ran so smoothly and the staff were lovely in making sure I was happy with everything and checking how I wanted things to go. Thank you for one amazing birthday! Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
All Weddings here at Mercure Chester Abbots Well are wonderful! However, one of my favorites has to be an intimate wedding we held for 11 guests, the attention to detail was incredible and the couple really made the day their own.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't be afraid to ask. I fully understand that this is a huge decision and sometimes couples are not sure what options are available. If you don't know what you want, be honest. I am always happy to spend some time getting to know you before showing options that I think you may like. Still want something changing - not a problem its your day, my aim is to ensure it is perfect for you.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
The couple found funny photographs of all of the guests prior to the wedding, these were then placed at peoples place settings as an icebreaker for the table, each guest had a photograph of someone else who they may not have known well but was sat with them. It was hilarious.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Our stunning gardens, I could spend all day every day looking at the view. It is beautiful all year round and makes a great backdrop for your photos.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
one couple did bring a life size cut out of Ed Sheeran - does that count?
What’s your favourite canapé?
Mini Chicken Kiev (slight cheat as it is a snack so a larger version of a canape but it is so delicious)
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Mini Cheese Burgers every time, yummy!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our Woodland Pods - perfect for pre wedding meals, hen parties, an intimate breakfast. Look great lit up in the evening for photographs in the gardens.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
The team. Our reviews speak for themselves and our team come up trumps every time. They are wonderful people to work with and put their all into every single event.
