Description

Here at Maidens Barn we have the space and facilities to cater for your entire wedding day – from your preparation in the morning to a delicious locally sourced breakfast with your guests the following morning. We are licensed for civil wedding ceremonies inside the stunning Oak Barn and of course, for outdoor weddings in the garden underneath the flowering wedding arbour or within our gardens.

You would start your morning in the Granary getting ready with your closest friends & family, we also have a 2nd prep room within the Elm Barn where your partner can get ready. The stunning Oak Barn provides the perfect setting for both intimate weddings as well as larger wedding celebrations, seating up to 150 people. Chairs can be arranged with 6 on each side of the aisle in a traditional format or in a more relaxed curve if you prefer. The stunningly simple space within the Oak Barn has a high, beamed roof and picture window offers a magnificent space for wedding ceremonies. The numerous French doors open out onto the courtyard allowing the outside, in!

We have 14 bedrooms in the Hayloft Barn which sleeps up to 29 adults, as well the Honeymoon Cottage for the newlyweds. This is a warm and intimate wedding venue, providing a blank canvas for you to decorate. Rustic arches and terracotta flower pots work well within this space but so do white aisle runners and modern pedestals.

We are open for weddings on all days of the week & month of the year, with the exception of between Christmas & New Year. We offer different venue hire prices depending on the day of the week & month. Lower midweek venue hire pricing is available. Please have a look in our brochure for our venue hire prices. The venue hire includes: Exclusive use of the Barn and grounds. The Granary for you and your bridal party to get ready. The Prep room for your partner and party to get ready. A tasting which is a three-course meal for two. Wedding coordinator on both the lead up and on the day. Full use of our tables, chairs, cutlery, linen etc. Use of our two easels for seating plan/sign. Use of our cake table/barrel plus knife. Fairy lights and decorated ring in ceremony room. Complimentary bottle of fizz for the night of the wedding. Please note that we have minimum numbers of 60 adults on our peak (May – September) Fridays & Saturdays. On all other days of the week, and months, there is a minimum of 50 adults.

We offer a choice between a three-course seated wedding breakfast and a two-course Grill & Skewer menu. Both options feature a variety of dishes at different prices, allowing couples to select a menu that best suits their tastes and budget. For the three-course wedding breakfast, one set menu is selected for all guests, with any dietary requirements catered for separately. Couples also have the option to provide their guests with a choice of dishes; this is available as a pre-order and subject to an additional supplement charge.

The most amazing dayThe most amazing day
When we first booked maidens barn in 2024 for our wedding we instantly fell in love with the venue. The staff were so friendly and the grounds were immaculate. Throughout the planning process the staff were so good with answering questions and making changes when we had them. We arrived at maidens the day before our wedding and Sam, Alex and Elliot were to help if we need, answering all my questions and going through what will happened the next day. We was able to set up and un pack, had the gorgeous granary to steam our dresses in. I can’t even put into words how amazing the day was, we’re still not over it and I don’t think we ever will be. The day ran so smoothly, nothing at all went wrong. The ceremony was beautiful, everything was timed perfectly The drinks at the drinking reception didn’t stop flowing, the staff made sure everyone had a full glass. The food by Host was incredible everyone was complimenting it and finishing everyone’s dinners. The whole day just went amazing. Even down to Elliot helping me with my dress when he dropped us off at the honeymoon cottage! I cannot fault the staff at maidens, they’re all brilliant at their jobs and you can truly see they care about what they do. The gardens and barn is so clean and well looked after. I highly recommend maidens to anyone looking to get married in the near future or for any event. We had the most magical day and a massive part of that was the staff. When myself and my partner were looking for our wedding venue, we always wanted a barn setting in the essex countryside, a venue where you can have the ceremony, reception, wedding breakfast and party all in the same place, and a stunning setting, that our guests would love, and Maidens Barn is just that. All the staff, especially Alex, Sam, Mercedes, Natalia and Elliot are simply amazing at what they do. On the lead up to your wedding day, they will answer any questions you have whatsoever with a quick and extremely friendly response, and always happy to help. Once your day arrives, all the staff are so helpful its amazing. They take away any stress or anxiety you maybe feeling by being so attentive and supportive. All of our guests mentioned that during the wedding breakfast the staff were excellent at serving and making sure people had enough drink, without even having to ask, top class service. The venue itself is just perfect, the outside grounds are beautiful, perfect for an outdoor ceremony or reception drinks. If you don't have your ceremony outdoors ( like us as the weather was a bit touch & go) you can have it inside, which aswell is beautiful, with its log beams, flower chandelier and fairy lights. Then the room where you have your wedding breakfast is absolutely perfect. Beautiful and also very spacious ( obviously depending on how many tables you have) We had 12 guest tables plus the top table and there was still plenty of room. What is really handy is that the dancefloor is at the opposite end of where all the tables are. So in the evening, you can still have all your tables out, for anyone who doesn't want to dance, but yet still have tons of room for your dancefloor. Its the perfect setup, we even had loads of room at the dancefloor end to include a sweets table, tea & coffee table and also a photobooth. The accommodation on site is also fantastic, offering 14 rooms plus the honeymoon cottage. All the rooms are very comfortable and kept to a high-standard. The honeymoon cottage is also perfect, tucked away from the rest of your guests and sitting near a pond, its a lovely setting for waking up the next day. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue and staff to work alongside with. Everything went smoothly and we had the best day. Not only the venue, but the team at Maidens Barn were on point. A massive thank you to Alex, Sam, Elliot, Natalia, and Mercedes. The way the entire team got involved was incredible—it felt like having a group of close friends help plan your big day. It is seriously impressive how they managed to keep the venue looking stunning and the flow of the day seamless, even with the weather against us. The venue is absolutely stunning, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the overall experience has been one we will never forget. We had the best day of our lives, everything was so stress free and seamless. Perfect venue and an amazing teamPerfect venue and an amazing team
My wife was enamoured with Maidens Barn just from their website, photos she’d seen posted, and the reviews she’d read, but of course we still wanted to view the venue in person before locking in a decision. She was right. We attended an open day in February 2024 and everything looked amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the venue was beautiful. The team kindly invited us to visit again in a few weeks so my family could also have a look around, and likewise they loved the venue. We booked for our Feb 2026 wedding and never looked back. Throughout the two-year process the team at Maidens Barn were communicative and professional every step of the way. We were probably quite needy but honestly the team couldn’t do enough for us. We were lucky enough that the barn was not in use the day before our wedding, so we were invited to come and set up for our big day. We did so and being able to look around the venue again and get our decorations and things in place help to calm our nerves. We also got to test the music system with our setup and it was reassuring to know everything was ready to go. On the day itself, everything went perfectly and we know this was due to the team working so hard behind the scenes. Our guests were full of praise for all of the team members who were friendly and professional throughout, and so very helpful. Everyone also loved the venue as much as we did – they were telling us how beautiful the barn looked and also how nice the onsite accommodation was. The next morning we had a continental breakfast with our guests that was included in the price of the overnight stays. Everything was delicious and locally sourced and it was such a nice touch to round off the event. Again the guests spoke very highly of it. After the wedding, without being asked Maidens Barn reimbursed the leftover drinks tab. The team are honest and hardworking and genuinely invested in giving you the best experience possible and making the day how you want it to be. They care about what it is you want and are incredibly flexible and passionate. We are so glad we chose Maidens Barn for our special day and cannot thank their team enough. We have no reservations whatsoever in recommending this venue. We had our wedding at Maidens Barn this October and it was the perfect day! The lead up to our day the team was amazing, great communication, really friendly and accommodating to us. On the day we were really looked after by the whole team they made sure everything ran smoothly and just made the day really special. We got married on saturday at Maidens Barn and it was absolutely everything we could have wished for! The team were amazing - absolute pros the whole day and made sure everything ran smoothly, including with the added challenge of having our 16 month old as part of our bridal party. Everything went perfectly and I felt so calm and chill all morning knowing Mercedes and the team were on top of everything. Thank you so so much Maidens Barn - we're so pleased we chose you as our venue for our special day! We can’t thank the team at maidens barn enough they was amazing. Friendly, helpful, caring simple the best! The day ran so smoothly without any issues. If you’re thinking of booking Maidens Barn , do it! We didn’t look at any other venues and on the 1st visit on the rainiest day in November it still stole our hearts. The grounds are stunning! Sam, Alex, Mercedes, Elliott and the rest of the Maidens Barn team are just phenomenal!! Absolutely no stone was left unturned when helping us to plan our big day. Communication from everyone on the team is outstanding, and this made things 10x easier for us in terms of booking things. Without Team Maidens we would not have had the day we wanted! They were even moving chairs and mopping floors 5 minutes before the ceremony after the heavens opened on us! Thank you all for helping to make our wedding day the best day of our lives.
