We booked the pain free package and it was just that, thank you for the best day of our lives. The staff were brilliant throughout and all of our guests really enjoyed themselves. Gorgeous hotel and gardens .The staff made our day seamless .They laid the tables up so beautifully for us and the wedding breakfast was absolutely delicious. So if your planning a wedding here it will be the best day ever ! You will not be disappointed! Ours definitely was amazing !! We had drinks and canapes after the church service, a wedding breakfast and an evening reception. All that could not have been better, it was perfect. Each table at the wedding breakfast had its own waitress who introduced herself. All the staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble and they went the extra mile all the time.What an amazing and superb experience! Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
Every wedding at Holdsworth House is completely unique because it's about you not us. When the sun shines an outdoor wedding in the garden, Barn Courtyard or Colonnade Courtyard are especially pretty. However if you're lucky enough to have a winter wedding with snow it's truly magical. We only ever do one wedding a day and we're expert at making your party feel like you're the only ones in the building. That said, Exclusive Use weddings are extra special because couples can really go to town with the dressing the rooms and keeping the whole estate private and magical for their family and friends.
We also had a number of beautiful, small weddings in our 17th stone Gazebo with just a few friends - it's utterly romantic.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Trust in our team. We have a very loyal and experienced team who underatand how to turn a good wedding into a great one. Some of us have worked at the hotel for over 30 years and have personally presided over a hundreds (and in some instances thousands) of wonderful weddings. You couldn't be in better hands. Be sure to let our wedding coordinators take the strain. Wedding planning should be fun and we can help by advising on the best timings, numbers and how many to cater for to ensure all you and your guests are happy. We're here for you from your first visit to the day itself and for every anniversary beyond. When you get married at Holdsworth House you become part of our family.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
We're a dog-friendly hotel so we love it when couples bring their pooches as ring bearers, or just to be part of the ceremony, it's fabulous!

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Our elegant lawn, historic trees and beautifully maintained Parterre garden with the hotel's facade in the background. Stunning in the Yorkshire sunshine and truly magical in the snow. A photo of the back of the bridal gown on the stairs. Twighlight photo in the garden gazebo. In the hall by the mullioned windows... Holdsworth House is every photographer's dream.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Countless celebrity guests! From The Beatles, Jamie Oliver, Ewan McGregor, Robert Plant... We've hosted actors, film directors, musicians, comedians... They all stay here when in the area. We've hosted lots of film crews here too because it's a fantastic backdrop - most recently filming of Riot Women, Happy Valley, Ackley Bridge, Last Tango in Halifax, The One Show, Jamie Oliver's Great Britain.
What’s your favourite canapé?
Too many to choose from but the Yorkshire pudding with roast beef and horseradish sauce is divine!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Our pulled pork burgers are incredible but can you really beat a bacon butty?!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The Grade II listed Jacobean house dates back to 1633. The mullioned windows, beamed ceilings, stone fireplaces, creaky floors and Colonnade Courtyard are all so beautiful. The Barn Courtyard and Farmhouse Treatment Rooms across the meadow offer new spaces for ceremonies and for hen party gatherings.
