Description
Fully licensed for civil ceremonies, Bert's Rooms and Events at The Black Horse Inn, is ideal for laidback weddings, allowing couples to host every stage in one inviting space. For destination weddings, this is the ideal space to soak up the serene ambience that the British countryside offers in abundance. The aesthetic continues within the inn, with its oak beams and exposed brick and original fireplaces. Civil ceremonies can be held in The Wellington Suite or Clifton Room which accommodate a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 60. This secluded event space is a beautiful blank canvas couples to craft their unique stamp. The space can fit up to 60 for a seated meal, with doors that open out onto a gorgeous courtyard, ideal for post-ceremony drinks. The maximum we can accommodate for an evening reception would be 90-100 guests. At the end of the evening, the happy couple can retire to the luxury Epernay Room while guests can choose from 12 individually designed bedrooms set over 17th-century cottages.

The food was well presented and yummy. We got perfect weather to enjoy the private courtyard.The rooms was nice,cosy and spacious. I cannot recommend this place enough, we've been for meals a few times before and booked the wedding at one of the open days. Lydia, who coordinates the weddings, was fantastic from the get go. Nothing was too much to ask, we changed our minds on several things several times and she always made us feel like it was as important to her that we had a perfect day as it was to us! The rooms are lovely and clean, the beds are comfortable. The food is always amazing!! Everyone who came to our wedding said how lovely the place was, we all had the best day ever!! Cooked to perfection. Great service by the staff. Our wedding day ran soo smooth..Lydia was a great asset to our day going so well. We stayed over the night before and had a lovely meal and I got ready in our room (Epernay) in the morning. Lydia was brilliant in organising everything (even bobbing up to see if I would like a much needed pre wedding G & T!) and sending the registrars up and then taking me downstairs with my dad and son. The room was dressed beautifully and the ceremony was lovely. We had some lovely photographs in the Courtyard and everyone enjoyed the day so much with several guests saying it was the nicest wedding they had been to. It was relaxed and jolly and the food was fantastic with excellent service from the staff. After speeches, we moved to the blue quiet room whilst the room was turned round for the evening. This room was lovely and contemporary and our evening guests started to arrive. We had really nice bacon and sausage sandwiches for supper and apparently our family and friends kept the bar very busy with the beer and wine flowing until close ha ha. The rooms were quaint and spotless and the Epernay room was a really special room. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning before sadly departing. I am so glad we chose the Black Horse as it was totally stress free with everything done for you and special thanks to the hard working staff and Lydia, Jane and Andrew for their kind welcome. All the staff were very helpful professional and nothing was too much trouble. They changed the venue too, form wedding seating; to meal seating; to evening seating with very little effort or should I say they make it look effortless. No-one stressed at all about anything and they also catered for two Vegans without making big deal out of it. I really can't praise the place and staff enough and would like to take this opportunity to thank them very much. The venue is beautiful with great character and the outdoor courtyard was simply amazing. The wedding breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, we had a chef attend our day do and he couldn’t praise the food enough, he said the Lamb was cooked to perfection. The bedrooms were gorgeous and beautifully decorated, what more could you want. The packages they offer are great value and we are so pleased we chose the black horse, the DJ kept everyone up dancing and made the evening extra special. Lydia and her team were great, so organised and helped make our big day one to remember. Overall our experience was amazing and our guests have said the same. The food was delicious, we ate at the BHI a few times before our big day and always had good quality, tasty food and we knew we would be in good hands for our wedding breakfast. Lydia the Black Horse Inn Wedding Planner was absolutely fabulous right from the word go, warm, friendly and incredibly organised, always prepared to go the extra mile and extremely proactive. Lydia was happy to answer the bombardment of email queries that we sent her and always responded quickly. On the day itself Lydia and her team were superb, everything ran so smoothly and we weren't even aware that they were their guiding us and making sure that everything went to plan.
