If you are looking for one of the most romantic settings in England, look no further than Hedingham Castle. Set in acres of formal gardens, lakes and woods, the beautifully restored 900-year-old Norman Keep provides a stunning centre point to your day. Ceremonies take place in the majestic Banqueting Hall of the Castle, with receptions in the elegant Ballroom Marquee in the gardens of the Georgian Mansion House for up to 150 guests. Smaller receptions can also be held in the Castle itself (for up to 70), and the Garden Cottage is included for preparation and for the couple’s first night. Alternatively, you can hire the Royal Chamber for your wedding night - the only modern bedroom in a Norman Keep in the country! Or stay in our brand new shepherd's hut complete with wood fired hot tub. Multi-day weekend weddings are also available, with venue hire from Friday-Sunday. Looking for something more intimate? Our Elopement package can be booked up to 6 months in advance and are a unique and romantic way to tie the knot.

Everyone was so friendly, very understand and accommodating of requirements or any last minute changes. The venue itself is stunning. We used the castle for our intimate wedding and every guest commented on just how stunning the castle was and it made for a magical ceremony and reception/meal. The on site accommodation in the cottage, lodge and Royal Chamber is also incredible and the perfect place to stay with our entire family on our special day. I could not be happier with our choice of venue and it was also incredible value for money! Thank you to everyone who was part of our day.I cannot fault Hedingham in any way. The combination of the ceremony at the castle, drinks reception in the grounds of the manor house and wedding breakfast/evening in the marquee is impossible to beat. From start to finish, the staff were helpful, professional, friendly and attentive. We visited several times during the wedding planning process, spoke through all of our choices and Sarah helped us craft a wedding that was personal to us, with loads of advice and helpful input. They also responded quickly to emails whenever I needed which helped make the process stress free. On the day, Jackie made sure everything ran like clockwork and looked after both of us. It was our perfect venue, making our big day so special, and a bonus is that we can visit public events that the castle hosts to remind us of the magic. The grounds are beautiful, even despite the less-than-perfect-weather of our day and the manor and reception marquee are so grand and a joy to be in. The keep however is something else. As the place where we had our ceremony it felt magical. You felt like you were a lord and lady, and that's no small part thanks to the staff at Hedingham. The staff made this day incredible by being so accommodating with everything we needed/wanted. We can't thank them enough for how the whole day was handled. If anything did go wrong, it was handled calmly and quickly so that we barely noticed. Some of our parents and bridal party specifically commented to us how smoothly everything was running and we all felt looked after, and other guests kept complimenting how grand and beautiful the venue is. All our guests are still talking about our wedding as the best wedding ever and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts. It was the perfect venue. I got to have a wedding ceremony that was by candlelight at 2.30pm in a Castle, day photos on the bridge and in the gardens of the Manor House after by a lake, a cocktail reception in the Manor House and a wedding breakfast under a beautiful marquee that had a secret dance floor which was only revealed during our first dance and we partied the night away! Everyone loved how even all at the same venue, we had different areas throughout the day and they were truly breath taking. The staff answered numerous emails back and forth, made the process so fun and the platters served at the lodge / cottage were amazing. The cottage had its own make up room to get ready in!!! We only wish we were a fly on the wall and could experience it all as a guest. It was the best day ever! Staff were incredible, made us feel like everything was in safe hands. We even ended up running ahead of schedule which made everything so relaxed and easy. Meeting with Sarah and communication with the team in the year running up to our wedding were very detailed and nothing was missed. Getting ready in the on-site cottage meant that we all had plenty of space and all the amenities we needed. The castle itself is stunning with its moody atmosphere in October, exactly what we wanted for our autumnal wedding. Staff were very helpful with my dress and the stairs before walking down the aisle. All the guest commented about what a magical place the castle was and how they loved that all the stages of the wedding were in one place. Catering was done by Splinters and was fantastic food and service. In house DJ Jethro was fab, played all the songs we wanted and checked with us that the first dance was the correct song. Guests stayed in the on-site Lodge and loved that they had a space to put their bags beforehand and felt comfortable. We stayed in the Castle Royal Chamber overnight which was amazing- very comfortable and had lovely continental breakfast. Overall what an incredible place, and fantastic service. The receiving line that took an hour for 60 guests, they were all huggers, wonderful to watch and despite the salmon being ready, we were definitely not going to interrupt!
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Enjoy the whole experience, it’s not all about the day, you need to enjoy planning it too and we can help you every step of the way. Take 30 seconds when you sit down for dinner to look at those you love the most in one room, it will likely never happen again. This advice was given to me on my wedding day, and it’s true, you remember it forever.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Personal vows are always a favourite. However the couple who asked their son to name the tables, that was adorable - we had “Red Tractor” and “Favourite Teddy” amongst others.
