Cantley House Hotel and barn, set within 50 acres of stunning countryside, is a warm and welcoming Berkshire wedding venue located on the outskirts of Wokingham and just a short distance away from Reading, Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead. Cantley House Hotel is a privately owned, 38 bedroom boutique hotel that offers everything you could need for your special day.
As the former home of the Marquis of Ormonde, the property has a grand yet homely feel with quirky and eccentric surprises at every turn. Whether you are looking for a venue for a small and intimate wedding reception or a larger more elaborate event our unique and enchanting property has an array of function facilities to suit every taste and budget; from the original suites of our classic Victorian manor house to our distinctive 17th century barn, we even have the capacity to house a marquee on our impressive lawns - perfect for those weddings where a larger capacity is required.

Especially Emma our wedding coordinator who was always on hand to answer our questions and put together the wedding day agenda. We were able to set up the ceremony room the day before and store the cakes in the function fridge overnight. Boxes for the day we were able to keep at Cantley house overnight and it was great to have Emma on hand setting up in the morning. Dianne and her team ensured the day ran smoothly. It was especially nice to exit the ceremony room to Dianne waiting with a drink for us both. We had a buffet for our wedding breakfast and Dianne ensured a smooth and efficient service. All dietary requirements were met and served to the table so they could be enjoyed while warm. Room change over between wedding breakfast and evening reception was seamless with a few tables and chairs kept and amble room for the DJ and dance floor. Emma and Diane from Cantley were brilliant and guided us throughout the day. Nothing was too much. Lovely to have the option of having the venue to ourselves and all of the rooms. The day went very smooth and guests commented how great the venue, staff, food and accommodation was. Perfect venue for a wedding!! Also using suggested suppliers was great and made things seamless. We were married in the Oak Room - absolutely stunning room. The Briar Barn for our wedding breakfast - again absolutely beautiful. Our bedroom suite was lovely, huge comfortable bed with a newly refurbished bathroom with a spa bathtub and a walk-in shower, beautiful grounds for your photos too! The staff are exceptional, Emma our wedding organiser and Diane and the team on our wedding day were just fantastic, warm friendly smiles, they couldn't do more for us and made sure our day went smoothly. The wedding food was delicious - compliments to the chefs too! From start to finish, everything was just perfect. It has so many different parts of the venue to make the day feel together but not boring. e..g we were married in the Oak Room, had a reception out on the lawn, moved to the barn for the dinner, then drinks in the Drawing Room, a party in the reconfigured barn and finally breakfast in the morning in the Stables. I am a bit of a nervous person, especially when it comes to logistics and was worried I would spend the day thinking about the little things, but the staff are so incredibly competent and caring that I didn't give anything a second thought once we began!I would highly recommend Cantley for your wedding day. The venue was beautiful with our ceremony outside on the lawn and our wedding breakfast and evening reception in the Briar Barn! Guests could stay at the venue which was a bonus! It has a meadow and long tree-lined drive which were both great for photos! There is a dedicated events planner to help organise everything. Lara did a wonderful job of organising the entire day, making us feel reassured and informed the whole time leading up to it. We were able to relax and enjoy the day without having to worry about a thing. Diane was on hand throughout the day making sure everything ran smoothly and on time, and was so friendly and supportive throughout. The lady on reception did a great job managing our different playlists for the ceremony with impeccable timing, and was really helpful whenever we had any questions. Everyone loved the food, the restaurant and bar staff were great and the DJ did a fantastic job as well, which made for a very lively evening reception. The venue and location was perfect, just the right size for our number of guests - we chose the micro wedding package for 30 people during the day and invited the rest of our family and friends to the evening reception. The package was such good value for money and was perfect for accommodating our modest budget. We will definitely be recommending Cantley House to all of our friends and family that are looking for wedding venues in Berkshire.Our wedding planner Lara and the rest of the team at Cantley House Hotel did such an amazing job of organising our wedding day. All went to plan and we were very impressed with both Zoe and Abi as well as the staff on duty in The Briar on the day. Our welcome drinks and canapés were served on the lawn which, together with the hotel, provided a traditional English setting for our overseas guests.We had a fantastic wedding at Cantley House. Form start to end, she looked after us being very patient and accommodating. We chose the exclusive package which gives you the entire place for yourself. The hotel rooms are so luxurious and as you walk in Cantley house, it is like walking in an Victorian house from the 19th century. The barn and stables are beautiful. We were worried about the menu as we were brave by putting fish as our main course but the chef spoke with us and changed the dishes slightly to fit our requirements and preferences. The wedding breakfast was simply sensational and all our guests congratulated us for the amazing food. Form start to end everything was absolutely perfect. I strongly recommend Cantley. We are thinking of re-marrying again next year as one day wasn’t enough to enjoy Cantley !Stunning place to get married and amazing staff. Emma did an incredible job at planning our wedding. We have had a variety of weddings here, from small intimate weddings of only 4 people to very large weddings over 120 people. I don't have a favourite as each one is so different and unique in their own special way.

Try not to stress over the small things. It is the people around you that make the day special.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
I love home made decorations that bring out the couples personalities, it makes a wedding unique an memorable.

Rustic, homely, historic, friendly, beautiful.
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The lawns, the fountain, the pond, the courtyard with festoon lighting or the surrounding Cantley Park fields that are the perfect spot for artistic photos.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Yes (we cannot reveal their names)
What’s your favourite canapé?
We have a variety of sweet and savory canapes. I personally love the Angus beef sliders and the Chargrilled Halloumi, and to finish it off I love a strawberry cheesecake pot!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
We are a barn and a hotel, which means we have the luxury of accommodation and a beautiful converted barn.
