Beautiful Ceremony Spaces to Match Your Style

Duart Castle offers a variety of charming and historic spaces, each perfect for different wedding sizes and vibes:

• The Banqueting Hall: This grand Great Hall is the castle’s largest room, seating up to 80 guests with room for more standing. Adorned with portraits of the Maclean chiefs and the 26th Chief’s coat of arms, it creates a majestic and historic atmosphere. A grand piano is also available to add a special musical touch.
• The Sea Room: Ideal for smaller, intimate ceremonies of up to 20 guests, this room offers stunning south-facing views over the Sound of Mull and Loch Linnhe. It’s filled with fascinating historical artefacts, including a small Spanish cannon from the Armada.
• The Drawing Room: For couples seeking exclusivity, the Chief’s private Drawing Room is occasionally available. This beautifully decorated, intimate space is not open to the public and suits wedding parties of up to 20.
• Outdoor Ceremonies: Exchange vows outdoors by the single cannon with panoramic views up the Sound of Mull. This breathtaking natural setting is perfect for couples wanting an open-air ceremony. A provisional indoor booking is required to ensure comfort in case of bad weather.

Planning Your Perfect Castle Wedding

Duart Castle specializes in creating memorable wedding ceremonies steeped in history. While the castle can provide drinks and canapés after your ceremony, it does not offer full reception facilities. Fortunately, several nearby hotels are available to host your wedding reception. The castle team also offers two bedrooms for the wedding party to get ready in comfort.

To make your day seamless and private, your wedding will have exclusive use of the castle outside of public hours. From May to September, ceremonies can be held from 5:30 pm onwards. In April and October, you can choose morning or late afternoon slots starting at 4:30 pm. This schedule ensures you and your guests enjoy a truly special and intimate experience.
