Description

Cranborne Lodge is an exclusive-use Georgian country house set within 28 acres of gardens, woodland and sweeping lawns in the heart of Cranborne Chase. Restored with warmth, elegance and a deeply personal touch, it offers couples the rare chance to enjoy a wedding weekend that feels like hosting in your own historic country home, with the service and sophistication of a dedicated luxury venue.

The experience begins the moment you arrive. The house opens into a series of graceful reception rooms, each thoughtfully designed in a contemporary country-house style: an elegant dining room, two relaxed drawing rooms, a cosy cinema snug and a characterful billiards room. Two beautifully designed bars are woven into the house, becoming natural gathering points for arrival drinks, candlelit receptions and evening celebrations.

French doors lead from the house onto a fire-lit loggia and broad terraces overlooking the gardens, creating effortless flow between inside and out. These spaces are ideal for drinks, canapés and relaxed moments throughout the day.

Ceremonies can take place both indoors and outdoors. The gardens offer secluded, romantic settings for open-air vows framed by ancient trees and sweeping lawns, while light-filled rooms inside the house provide a timeless backdrop for ceremonies in every season.

The house is wonderfully adaptable for celebrations of all sizes. Intimate weddings can enjoy elegant seated dining for up to 50 guests, with space for a reception of up to 120, creating a warm, house-party atmosphere that moves easily from room to room. For larger celebrations, the marquee lawn offers exceptional flexibility, accommodating up to 250 guests for a full marquee reception seamlessly connected to the terraces and gardens.

As the evening unfolds, celebrations often move into the atmospheric cellar club beneath the house, a private late-night space designed for dancing, music and unforgettable moments with friends and family.

Across the estate, 11 individually designed bedrooms provide comfort and character for up to 22 overnight guests. Many couples choose to extend their celebration into a full weekend, enjoying dinner the night before, relaxed breakfasts and unhurried time together.

A defining part of the experience is the connection to Itasca Wines. As the home of the Itasca vision, couples have the option to feature exceptional English sparkling and still wines from Penn Croft throughout their celebration, from arrival drinks to wedding breakfast pairings, adding a distinctive sense of place and craft to the day.

With many years of experience hosting weddings and celebrations, the events and hospitality team know the house intimately. Their approach is warm, supportive and flexible, helping couples shape a celebration that feels personal while ensuring everything runs seamlessly.

With its blend of Georgian elegance, natural beauty, exceptional wines and modern country-house charm, Cranborne Lodge is a place where weddings feel deeply personal and beautifully memorable - a house that becomes yours for the weekend, shared with the people you love most.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Is Cranborne Lodge exclusively ours on the day?

Yes. All weddings and celebrations at Cranborne Lodge are offered on an exclusive-use basis, meaning the house, gardens and grounds are yours to enjoy privately for the duration of your hire.

How many guests can you accommodate?

Inside the house, we can host elegant seated dining for up to 50 guests and a reception for up to 120 guests. For larger celebrations, the marquee lawn can accommodate up to 250 guests for a full marquee reception.

Are ceremonies held on site?

Yes. Ceremonies can take place indoors or outdoors, including beneath the Avenue of Trees, within the gardens or in one of the light-filled rooms inside the house. The nearby village church is also just a short walk away.

Is the venue accessible for guests with mobility needs?

All main ceremony and reception spaces are arranged across one level, making the day itself accessible for most guests. Please note that bedrooms are located on upper floors and are not fully accessible. We are always happy to discuss individual needs and help plan accordingly.

Do you allow confetti?

To protect the house and gardens, traditional confetti is not permitted. However, natural and biodegradable options such as dried petals or fresh rose petals are very welcome.

Can we choose our own caterers?

We work with a curated selection of trusted catering partners who know the house and grounds well. If you have a specific caterer in mind, this can be discussed with us in advance.

Do you provide tables, chairs and linens?

Yes, this depends on the type of celebration you are planning.

For small weddings held inside the house, venue hire includes exclusive use of the house and all 11 bedrooms, dining furniture (tables and chairs), crockery, cutlery, glassware and linens. Bar staff, housekeeping, event planning support and breakfast are also included, meaning you won’t need to hire in additional furniture for your wedding breakfast.

For larger weddings and marquee celebrations, venue hire includes exclusive use of the house and 11 bedrooms, glassware, bar staff, housekeeping, event planning support and breakfast. Furniture, linens and marquee-related items are typically arranged through your chosen marquee company or caterer, and we will guide you through this process.

Is there accommodation on site?

Yes. The house offers 11 individually designed bedrooms sleeping up to 22 guests, ideal for close family and friends. Additional accommodation is available nearby in the village and surrounding area.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Couples are welcome to shape their drinks offering to suit their preferences. Corkage applies and will be discussed clearly during the planning stage.

What time does the music need to finish?

Outdoor amplified music must finish by 11:30pm in line with planning permissions. Celebrations can then continue indoors, including dancing in the cellar club, within agreed hours.
