The Beautifully restored 17th Century thatched Essex Barn is one of the best and largest examples being used as a wedding venue. Its idyllic for your special day. Set in tranquil surroundings, with large outside areas, fountains and our avenue of mature trees. With years of experience our wedding coordinators and head chefs will ensure your dreams come true. Every wedding is special to us and you can be confident you will find us professional and organised, ensuring your special day is relaxed, happy and memorable. Getting married at Channels offers you the splendour of the 17th century Barn, or step out into our "Church without a Roof" ceremony garden.

I've worked for Channels since 1999, running weddings and events, and now I use this experience to help advise and sell our venue to new couples looking for their dream venue. Its a lovely and rewarding role, when you see couples arrive to our venue for the first time, and the WOW factor hits them. Weather its the splendid drive in through the Estate, or the many photographic opportunities they have, the ceremony garden which is "like no other" or the rustic beams and interior of the Barn.

Firstly the staff are incredible, so helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, approachable, everything and more. They can not do more for you. Anything you ask they are willing to do, nothing is out of question or a problem. The venue itself is stunning, you really don’t need much at all to make it a beautiful space. The food was on another level, the best wedding food we have ever had. All our guests have commented that it’s the best wedding they have been to do to the general atmosphere and food Do not hesitate to book the channels as your wedding venue. Firstly the staff are incredible, so helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, approachable, everything and more. They can not do more for you. Anything you ask they are willing to do, nothing is out of question or a problem. The venue itself is stunning, you really don’t need much at all to make it a beautiful space. With 125 day guests and 25 evening guests, we needed a venue that was big enough, with great food and drink, excellent service, and didn’t break the bank. But what we found was so much more, a beautiful venue inside and out, amazing accommodation on site, the friendliest and most helpful staff and great suppliers. I’ve planned lots of events but none went as smooth as at Channels, Karen and the team are excellent. If you are considering a summer wedding, there is no better place. The venue, the surroundings, the food, the communication and the staff. Oh the staff! The staff were nothing more than outstanding. Nothing was too much for them. Special thanks for Katie our wedding co-ordinator. She was fantastic and we love her. I would highly recommend this venue for your perfect wedding day From the start, to the finish. This goes to Paul for the initial viewing of the venue back in 2020 to Molly who was amazing on the day and also beforehand plus the entire team of course. We had to move our wedding day once due to Covid which we were able to do very smoothly. Everyone was super friendly and made sure we thought of everything. We had the most magical day and couldn’t have asked for more. What a beautiful venue, absolutely stunning! Thanks so much for your help in making this day amazing and the most memorable experience! Chloe our wedding organiser was so professional, but so much fun to work with. She made us feel so relaxed and took care of everything. Paul who we first met was brilliant, no question was too small to answer. Brilliant bloke. Our day was perfect and everyone absolutely EVERYONE loved the food!!! I will be back for more as those Chefs are so talented. Gordon Ramsey would be impressed. The food is amazing!! Breakfast was amazing too. The staff that helped at the wedding were fantastic, and so sweet and helpful. Anyone getting married at Channels you are in great hands because honestly every single person was so amazing. The hotel... Oh my god our room was stunning!!!! So beautiful, so cosy, so clean and so big!! The Oak Suite is perfect and i wouldn't change a thing. The reception team were so friendly and so chatty I loved it they made us feel so welcomed. The young man who has only been there for 3 weeks was so sweet and funny he is doing a great job!! Find a venue that ticks as many of your boxes. This is your wedding day. A day to remember and cherish. So ensure you choose well.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
It was a wedding that was 1/2 Japanese & 1/2 English guests. So interpreters were hired in for the entire day. It was lovely to see both families and friends being able to talk, laugh and celebrate.
