Exclusively yours, Borthwick Castle can sleep up to 26 guests in the highest form of luxury, with 12 bespoke bedchambers featuring majestic fabrics and stunning bespoke wooden furniture, transporting you back to a time when the Lords of Borthwick once roamed the Castle.
Capable of hosting up to 85 of your closest friends and family, whether you have plans for a grand celebration, an intimate family ceremony or something in between, our Castle provides the ideal stage for your fairy tale wedding. Bespoke weddings are our passion at Borthwick Castle, and your personal wedding coordinator will help you every step of the way, ensuring your wedding is everything you ever dreamt of and more.
At Borthwick Castle, we don’t believe in set menus, and our talented catering team led by award-winning Head Chef, Derek Johnstone, are passionate about making your culinary dreams become a reality, working alongside you to create a menu filled with sumptuous seasonal delights that are sure to amaze everyone in attendance.

- The exclusive hire includes our three magnificent public rooms: The Garrison, The State Room and The Great Hall which can be used for ceremonies receptions, dining, and dancing.
- Our maximum number of guests in our public rooms is 80. The Castle also has 13 elegant and romantic bedrooms sleeping up to 20 guests and, next to the castle, Crookston Cottage which can sleep a further 4 guests and the newly refurbished Gatehouse can sleep 2 guests.
- Housekeeping, tea selection and freshly brewed coffee are also included for guests staying the night at the castle, and in the morning, you will be treated to a delicious cooked to order full Scottish breakfast.
- A team of staff are also on site 24 hours a day.

From the first contact via email to our departure the day after, the staff were absolutely phenomenal. Over the two years of planning, I never once felt stressed about the venue-everything was handled with such professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail. We chose a winter wedding because of our love for Christmas, and the castle's festive decorations exceeded all expectations. The enormous Christmas tree in the Great Hall and the beautiful touches throughout the castle created the perfect holiday atmosphere. It felt like stepping into a fairy tale. On the day itself, the team went above and beyond. The dining service was exquisite-true silver service. Sitting at the top table during dinner, we could see the precision and professionalism of the staff, with every plate being served simultaneously. It was seamless and added such a refined touch to the evening. The castle itself is breathtaking. Every room is beautifully designed and full of character. Our favorite was the Gatehouse, where I got ready with my bridal party and where we stayed the night of our wedding. It's incredibly spacious and perfect for gathering with friends and family in the morning. I highly recommend investing in the early check-in option; having access from 8 a.m. made the day so much more relaxed. Getting ready with my loved ones, enjoying hair and makeup with a glass of fizz, is a memory I'll cherish forever. Our guests couldn't stop complimenting the venue and the staff. Everyone was blown away by the beauty of the castle, the warmth of the team, and the incredible food. The menu tasting beforehand was such a special experience, and the chef even allowed us to offer our guests different menu options, which was a lovely personal touch. Special thanks to Áine, who was so friendly and attentive throughout the day and through the whole planning process-you were amazing! The entire team worked tirelessly to make our day perfect, and they succeeded in every way possible. I only wish I could relive the day exactly as it was-it was perfection from start to finish. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Borthwick Castle who helped make our dream wedding a reality. We will forever cherish the memories of this magical day. As a destination bride who did not see the venue beforehand it was AMAZING- even better than how I pictured it after pouring over pictures leading up to the day. Aine was so responsive and helpful, there was no question I could ask however small that Aine didn’t answer with care and attentiveness. I had multiple people tell me it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding and everyone was amazed by the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The entire staff was so helpful and constantly there for me and my now husband for anything we needed. We wanted to have a destination wedding in Scotland (we're based in the US) and lucked out with choosing Borthwick as a venue and with Aine as our wedding planner. It was incredibly easy to work with them over emails/zooms and Aine did a lot of the leg work to coordinate with our vendors since we weren't local. And the execution of the wedding was flawless; there is nothing we can think of that we would have improved over our experience. The castle and it's staff is a five-star experience with high levels of service, professionalism, and outright kindness. Not to mention to raw beauty of the castle. It directly caught my attention, and I kept coming back to it as nothing compared... When we saw Borthwick in real life, we fell in love. It was everything we wished for... history, mystery, elegance, comfort... to say the least. Our destination wedding was nothing short of celebrating everything... not only our wedding, but also our family and friends who crossed oceans and miles to see us get married. They were all grateful to be part of the experience and could not stop talking about it!! (They haven't yet). The Staff at Borthwick are a dream, each and every single one of them. Aine, thank you for all the help, organization, and accommodations, on the day and before. It couldn't have been a more magical wedding. We don't intend to get married again, but we do intend to go back to Borthwick Castle and spend a day or two when the venue hosts annual events. We had wanted to get married in a castle that was an actual castle inside as well as outside. The furnishings and standard of interior decoration was authentic to the castle but also extremely luxurious with all the mod cons. The staff, especially Amy and Damien were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and everything ran smoothly. I was very calm on the day - enjoying the experience of getting married - in the knowledge that I didn’t have anything to worry about as it was in very capable hands. And it was - everything ran smoothly and just how we wanted it. The food was phenomenal and they created a dish to suit our needs for the Friday before the wedding. My other half and I loved the castle immediately and are so glad we booked our wedding here. From start to finish, the staff were just fantastic in helping us organising our dream wedding. Always happy to answer my many many questions and requests during all the planning. Great expertise amongst Amy and the team who were always able to recommend other suppliers or advice for the day. We opted to book out Borthwick for the whole weekend and I'd highly recommend doing this if you are thinking of having your wedding here. It totally made the whole weekend relaxed and really really special for us and our of our closest family and friends who could join us for an informal dinner the night before and settle into the weekend. The day itself was even better than we could have imagined. We're still getting compliments from our guests, who especially loved the unique castle setting with its beautiful grand rooms. But where we got most compliments on was the food - it really was outstanding from start to finish, from the informal dinner to the canapes and of course the wedding breakfast. There are many packages to choose from and a broad selection to suit all tastes. The staff are so welcoming, our amazing wedding coordinator Amy was always on hand to help and you could see their professionalism allowed the day to run so smoothly - I was expecting to be much more stressed out myself on the day but wasn't at all. In terms of the venue itself - it really is an outstanding building and has been renovated so tastefully whilst keeping the history. Yes there are a lot of stairs so do take into consideration if suitable for your guestlist, or have a couple ushers on hand for the up and down during the day as this is unavoidable. But totally worth it to get the chance to spend a weekend in such a beautifully kept historic building. The bedrooms are stunning - they are all a bit different but lots of different features that suited our various family and friends (like the beautiful roll top baths in some!).
