From the moment you arrive along our mile-long tree-lined driveway, you'll feel like you've stepped into your own fairy tale. Hidden within beautiful grounds yet conveniently close to Edinburgh city centre and Edinburgh Airport, Melville Castle offers the perfect balance of secluded romance and easy access for your family and friends.
You can exchange your vows beneath the open Scottish skies on our stunning South Lawn or inside one of our elegant State Rooms or light-filled Ballroom. However you imagine your day, our experienced team will help bring every detail to life.
After saying "I do", enjoy drinks and canapés while wandering through our picturesque grounds for unforgettable photographs before sitting down to a delicious wedding breakfast. Our talented in-house chefs create seasonal menus using the finest Scottish ingredients, carefully paired with exceptional wines to create a dining experience your guests will remember for years to come.
For larger celebrations, your beautifully dressed marquee provides the perfect setting for dining, speeches and dancing beneath sparkling chandeliers and fairy lights. Later, raise a glass in our atmospheric Library Bar, enjoy a dram of Scottish whisky or dance the night away surrounded by the people you love most.
When the celebrations come to an end, you and your guests can relax in one of our 33 individually designed bedrooms and suites, including two luxurious bridal suites, allowing you to extend your celebrations into the following morning.

No wedding is better than any other as there’s no right or wrong way to get married. Some couples love the idea of hosting their celebration in the castle, while others prefer something a little more relaxed, like a marquee filled with fairy lights. Find a balance between tradition and what feels right for you as a couple. Combine cultures, choose flowers that remind you of someone special, or tie a Celtic knot during your vows. It's your day, celebrate it your way.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Lean on your wedding venue team for advice and guidance as they have most likely seen and done it all. Trust their skill and experience and it will help put your mind at ease. We also find weddings that are simple, yet deeply personal are more enjoyable to plan and the day is much more memorable.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
The bride was from Canada and the groom was from Scotland, so they made maple shortbread creams for the guests as wedding favours. Combining the couple's two cultures in a delicious sweet treat added a personal touch and it avoided any waste – every crumb was enjoyed.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The bridge over the river has become an iconic shot for our couples. But, if the weather is misbehaving, the grand staircase in our reception area is equally as striking.

What’s your favourite canapé?
As we're a Scottish venue, you just can't beat our haggis bonbons. Guests love them.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
A decadent cheese board!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The estate offers incredible photo opportunities for you and your guests. For those romantic couple shots, you can choose the grand backdrop of the castle itself or head into the woodland or down to the river for a more intimate, nature-led shot. There are lots of unique, hidden places to explore too.

Our team are incredible. Always an email or phone call away, they will go above and beyond to make every wedding day as special as can be and every couple is well looked after from the moment they make that first enquiry.
