At The Pumping House we truly believe each wedding is unique. You will work with our wonderful in-house catering team and dedicated Wedding Manager to ensure every aspect of your day is tailored to create a completely bespoke and magical experience.
Our old meets new venue features two licensed ceremony rooms, main hall for wedding breakfasts, accommodation and a large lawn for outdoor drinks receptions. Late licensed to 12.30am, our beautiful red brick building, still featuring the original and distinctive chimney, is located in the heart of Sherwood Forest. The tranquil surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for weddings and offers ample opportunity for unique photography. The Pumping House is just a short drive from Sheffield, Nottingham, Lincoln and Mansfield.
Set over two impressive floors you can hold a ceremony in the Ollerton Room which has beautifully unique parquet flooring and is filled with natural light from the original paned windows, creating the perfect setting for wedding ceremonies, this is licensed for civil ceremonies with seating for up to 110 guests. The Engine Hall is also licensed for civil ceremonies from 80 to 170 guests.
Guests can enjoy drinks and canapés following the ceremony in The Conservatory Bar or the beautiful landscaped garden.
The Engine Hall provides an impressive setting for the wedding breakfast. The unique tiling, stunning arch windows and high glass ceiling create an illuminating space that is perfect for weddings from 30 to 170 guests. The room can accommodate various layouts and can be used as a canvas for different theming and settings. As dusk falls, guests can dance the night away, celebrating this memorable day and bringing The Engine Hall to life.
The Pumping House also unveils an oasis of beautifully thought-through, luxury apartments. Nestled at the rear of our historic venue, these ten Self-catering apartments are the perfect accommodation for your wedding party.

Immaculate food, seamless organisation and a stunning, stand-out backdrop to the whole day. Then this is the one for you. We were looking for a venue that would provide something different to the run-of-the-mill wedding factories and we knew as soon as we visited that we'd found the one. Every space is carefully curated, from the enormous bridal suite to the impressive engine hall through to the cute side rooms. There's a good choice of menus and the tapas option we chose went down really well with our guests. The whole team were outstanding but we are particularly grateful to our coordinator Jo. Every so often you meet someone who is so good at their job you're left in awe. No question was too stupid or detail was too small. Jo made the whole process so easy from planning through to execution of the day itself, and worked painlessly with our suppliers. We only wish we could relive the day again. We found the venue on Hitched and we were immediately drawn to its industrial but classy aesthetic. Upon visiting, we knew it was 'the one' - it was spacious, elegant and had some really unique features, especially the themed rooms (games room especially was a hit!) and a fantastic mezzanine floor overlooking the main 'engine room' . Our events manager, Victoria, made us feel like nothing was too much trouble throughout the planning, with clear communication and speedy responses to our questions and ideas. We loved the food - a BBQ buffet for our Wedding Breakfast, and Chinese sweet and sour rice for the evening. The portions were really generous and the quality was outstanding, with some reasonably priced offerings on the list. The onsite accommodation was lovely, with ample room for our family and closest friends. The only downside was, we didn't have much time to enjoy the rooms! We got married on a Monday and this meant the accommodation wasn't available the night before (as there was another wedding), and we had to vacate the rooms by 10.30am the following morning. The breakfast the following morning was delicious too. Everyone in attendance had such lovely comments about the the venue and what a beautiful day it was. Lian and the amazing team made sure I had no stress and ensured every thing ran so smoothly. The food was incredible ( including the most delicious breakfast the morning after. The Pumping House is such a beautiful venue including the accommodation and every single member of the team were fantastic. What a wedding!We got married at the Pumping House on 28th June 2025 after booking the venue in Feb 2023 - 2 years felt like the longest time to wait when we had chosen such a stunning venue. Thankfully, the numerous wedding fairs and open days hosted at the venue kept us fulfilled whilst in the planning process. Lian was our venue coordinator, and from start to finish, she answered all our questions and was quick to calm any concerns I had about the day and how things would run. My parents also arranged for a TV to come out for my dad's speech, which was all organised by the venue team and my parents! I had no idea, and it completely made my dad's speech. Lian also helped us in the planning process by sharing things she'd seen other couples do or how they might approach an alternative to wines on the table and we settled with a drinks table where people could go and get anything as and when they liked throughout the wedding breakfast. For this we asked Lian if we could have a specific bottled beer ordered in and this was no problem. We even encountered supply issues (the brewery's fault not the venue at all) and Lian was quick to order our second option and have it ready for the day. The quarters at the Pumping House are amazing, and all of our guests commented on how they would like to live there or return for a holiday, it was that good! The rooms did get a little warm (hello 28 degrees on our wedding day!) but there were ample fans supplied in the venue and in the quarters to keep us cool. A big thank you to everyone at the venue who worked our wedding, we were sweltering so can only imagine how hot the kitchens were! We really appreciate the effort put in by the entire venue on the day! PS. When is too soon to come back and renew our vows? Not quite sure how I'm going to cope without visiting the venue once every 6 months! The Lemonchello Spritz was a massive hit with our guests and it will be a way we will forever remember our wedding. Cannot thank them enough and the venue speaks for itself, it is stunning. The food was delicious. Everyone commented on how delicious the food was and all the staff were so helpful, kind and couldn't do enough for our wedding guests. Lian and team sorted everything for us, so accommodating with our weird things we needed doing... Motorbike drop off, flower set up and 3 looney Dogs. The team took it all in their stride, I didn't notice them till I needed them and then it was done... Perfect team work I can't thank you enough Pumping House. The accommodation was amazing and the breakfast was a wonderful way to talk over the day before and yet again the food was amazing. A very happy couple - thank you. Our guests were blown away by the stunning venue. Everyone commented on how delicious the food was and all the staff were so helpful, kind and couldn't do enough for our wedding guests. Then we arrived and I was just blown away. I had the wedding dress moment with the venue. Then I was told that my dog could be there. Signed, sealed and they definitely delivered!! I am completely blown away by the experience with The Pumping House and their ability to make our day so special!! Lian was our wedding manager at the venue and she was just incredible. She has been contactable, helpful and reassuring during the whole time that we've been planning the wedding. The staff on the day were just awesome. They served the meals so quickly and efficiently. If people had specifications for their meal, they were adhered too. We had so many compliments saying that the food was the best they had ever had. I honestly will never be able to thank you and your team enough for how hard you worked to make our day as special as it was. We were often referred to as the chilled couple - I don't think we would have been as chilled if it wasn't for the professionalism of the venue! For anyone considering booking the venue, I would 100% recommend to! The accommodation was insane and absolutely well worth using full advantage of if possible.
