Here at Matara we host bespoke wedding celebrations, working with couples to help you create your dream day. From rustic woodland areas to formal settings Matara truly has something for everyone Whether you are looking for an intimate ceremony inside the Grade II listed Regency home, a larger gathering under the cloisters in the courtyard, on the front lawn, or indoors in the Hilarium, Matara is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and unions. With the new laws you can get married anywhere at Matara. For those wanting a more traditional ceremony, the Church of St John the Baptist, Kingscote lies at the edge of the property. Alfresco or a full sit down dining experience, a traditional hog roast or a vegan feast, Chef Luke takes great care to delight the most discerning taste buds. Our menus offer seasonal, freshly prepared dishes and Chef loves to create a bespoke menu to fully reflect your tastes. The foundation of our food is based upon the farm to fork principles. The primary ingredient is love and care. The Hilarium at Matara transforms into the perfect dance floor after the wedding breakfast. There are also 5 ante rooms that are included in your exclusive hire of the venue, giving you and your guest lots of space to take a breather from the revelry and catch up with each other. For weekend-long celebrations, the venue offers accommodation for up to 30 people within the Grade II-listed Kingscote Park House, the Honeymoon Lodge, and converted haylofts.

Hire of the Centre is from 9am until Midnight. The Matara Centre is Licensed to hold Civil Ceremonies for up to 150 Guests - we have an array of outdoor and indoor ceremony locations. Prices Include Ceremony Set-up. We can cater for up to 150 for a sit down wedding breakfast and up to 200+ for the evening reception. Accommodation is available and an additional cost if required.

The most incredible place & special weddingThe most incredible place & special wedding
Wow - I can’t even express how much of amazing weekend we had for our wedding. Holly and team were amazing, from the way they made us feel at ease and as if nothing was too much, to the beautiful decor and how they made the vision came to life. Everything was utterly perfect, my now husband Ed and I felt so incredibly lucky. We cannot thank Matara enough. Every single guest commented on how beautiful, special and different the venue is. Huge thanks to Geoffrey too, it’s such a special place and we are so grateful that he opens it up for celebrations. Additionally, Luke, everyone said the food was incredible (it really was!!) and we know a lot of time effort and his creativity went into each and every dish. We did the “exclusively yours” package, and it was so special to have weekend access to enjoy more time with our close family and friends. We’d not have changed anything for the world and are so glad we did this! Thank you so much Matara for everything! We are just soaking it all up and taking in married life 🥹🥰. Absolutely Amazing VenueAbsolutely Amazing Venue
The most incredible Venue! My husband and I recently got married at The Matara Centre and cannot praise this beautiful space highly enough! We knew from the minute we first visited that it was the perfect place to celebrate our special day and absolutely loved the amazing sense of peace that seems so apparent the moment you set foot on the lovely grounds! The gorgeous gardens, the fabulous staff, the inspiring eclectic spaces and the delicious food are just a few of the things we loved! The accommodation was fantastic and everyone was impressed when they arrived on the day. A huge amount of gratitude to Olivia, our wedding coordinator, and truly went above and beyond ensuring our day went so smoothly! We loved every minute and cannot wait to visit again. To Olivia, Chef Luke and everyone else who was part of our special day at Matara. Thank you all so much for making sure our special day was indeed, exactly that. We fell in love with Matara the first time we visited and knew it was the right place for us to finally tie the knot. The day was absolutely wonderful and full of joy and happiness throughout. We lost track of the number of comments on how beautiful the venue was and how delicious the food was, and thrilled it was allergy safe. Your entire team allowed us to just revel in the day and night without worry and for this we are beyond grateful. Our families had a wonderful evening together in the house the night before, which is the connection we wanted. Matara is such a beautiful and unique place and we cannot wait to return time and time again to relive our day and visit our tree. Matara will forever be an important part of our story. The Venue is incredible The Venue is incredible
The venue is incredible, pictures online don’t do it justice. It’s such a unique and beautiful place to have a wedding. Staff are excellent, Holly made it run so so so smoothly, they made all our dreams come true. Also, Luke, the chef, is amazing. We had SO many guests come up to us and say it was the BEST wedding food they have ever had!!!! And we agree! Amazing amazing amazing. We will forever be grateful. Our wedding was the best day ever!The venue is incredible, pictures online don’t do it justice. It’s such a unique and beautiful place to have a wedding. Blown away by the beauty Blown away by the beauty
We had our wedding at Matara in May and cannot recommend the venue highly enough. We had the very best of days, and every guest was blown away by the beauty and uniqueness of the venue. (We also rented Kingscote House for the weekend - which was even more spectacular if anything). From our first visit to the day itself we found the staff to be incredibly helpful. Holly was an absolute dream to work with - don’t let her calm nature fool you, she is on top of everything! Nothing was too much effort - things other venues charge extra for, or make a song and dance about were of no issue. We were able to completely just enjoy our day. This is a wedding venue with all the quality and class you’d expect in the Cotswolds - but has so many other unique elements that will really set your wedding apart. Our wedding day was a wash out, so we couldn’t make the most of all Matara’s outdoor space. But such is this venues depth, that didn’t matter at all. If anything it was a blessing in disguise, allowing us to enjoy its fabulous indoor spaces.We had our wedding at Matara in May and cannot recommend the venue highly enough. Wish we could do it all again Wish we could do it all again
We got married at the Matara Centre in September 2022. We were unbelievably nervous and anxious about pretty much everything from the weather and to our guests enjoying the whole amazing day we had planned with Holly and her fabulous team. From the first day we met Holly she was unbelievably kind, thoughtful and professional. She put all or worries totally at ease. We chose the Matara Centre because of its amazing grounds and scenery. The venue itself with the lovely sculptures, gorgeous rooms and total warm feeling you get when you arrive. The day of our wedding went fantastically well, even more than we could have imagined and the Matara team pulled out all the stops to make sure our special day was truly special and unforgettable. Our wedding breakfast was strictly vegetarian and vegan. Their amazing chef Luke produced an unbelievably great menu. The majority of our guests were meat eaters but after all the great food Luke produced, I think he may have converted a lot of our guests to vegetarianism. He went well beyond our expectations. All our guests had a fantastic day and said it was the best wedding they had been to. That means so much to us as a couple because when we first visited Holly, we couldn't have imagined it would go so tremendously well. Thank you so much Holly, your great team and Geoffrey for making our very special day truly special. We only wish we could do it all again but in slow motion. Best decision everBest decision ever
When we were looking for our venue I searched for “unique wedding venues”. The Matara Centre popped up and you can see why. The cloistered courtyard, hilarium, grounds and house ticked every box. After the first visit in Christmas 2021, no other venue even came close. We got married in august 2023 and had family stay in the Kingscote House, & my husband and I stayed in the honeymoon suite both the night before and the night of the wedding. This was the best decision for us to give the wedding a much more relaxed feel, something we were really passionate about. We did things a little different, arriving to welcome drinks before the ceremony together and walking into the ceremony with our guests. Olivia, our wedding coordinator, was amazing at bringing our vision to life. Every email & many many questions were answered quickly and clearly, and she was just incredibly helpful. It was Shaun and Jessicas wedding this weekend just gone where I had the honour of being a best man and I wanted to let you know I felt it was absolutely magical! Your venue was just perfect and when complimented by such fantastic weather, I dont think Shaun and Jess or we as guests could have experienced anything better! the different areas, the koi filled ponds, the lawn, the house, the plants... well the list is endless and whoever has put it all together over the years, including the staff, has done a superb job..bravo indeed! I myself stayed in one of the zen rooms, I think Star if memory serves me correctly and it was lovely! It was Shaun and Jessicas wedding this weekend just gone where I had the honour of being a best man and I wanted to let you know I felt it was absolutely magical! Your venue was just perfect and when complimented by such fantastic weather, I dont think Shaun and Jess or we as guests could have experienced anything better! the different areas, the koi filled ponds, the lawn, the house, the plants... well the list is endless and whoever has put it all together over the years, including the staff, has done a superb job..bravo indeed! Concentrate on what marriage means to you as a couple and allow your day to unfold around that.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

We have seen some amazing wedding favours. One couple, who got married this year, trolled their favourite charity shops for books with specific meaning for each guest enabling them to personalise the favours and give over £1,000.00 to their charity of choice. Another couple made a huge batch of the bride's grandad's damson gin recipe and bottled it in single shot bottle for all the guests.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Hmmmm. That is a really hard choice. The cloistered courtyard is a definite unique backdrop found nowhere else.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

Yes, and that is all we are at liberty to divulge ;)

What’s your favourite canapé?

There is no possible way we could choose, the chef is renowned for his food, especially the canapes.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

We have just installed our own wood fired pizza oven. Anything coming out of that is divine.
