Description

Stourhead's Palladian landscape garden was lovingly crafted in the 1700’s and is described as a ‘living work of art’ inspired by the painted masterpieces of the past. Our temples are located on the lakeside with stunning views of the surrounding gardens.

Whether you’re dreaming of an intimate gathering or a celebration with up to 80 guests, our beautiful temples and elegant mansion house offer the perfect backdrop for your special day. Our friendly, dedicated team will support you every step of the way — from your first visit to the moment you say ‘I do’ — ensuring your day is personal, seamless, and truly unforgettable.

After your ceremony, you and your guests can celebrate with drinks and photographs in some of the most picturesque spots on the estate. To continue your celebration you can hire Apollo Field perfect for a marquee reception of up to 200 guests. The nearby village of Stourton, at the heart of the estate, just walking distance from the garden, also offers wonderful options for accommodation and reception spaces.

We welcome bookings from April - September and book up to two years in advance. We are currently taking bookings for 2027. We will release our calendar and pricing for 2028 in September.

Please contact us for a brochure and availability for wedding show rounds.

By booking your wedding with Stourhead, you are helping us to look after this special place.

We look forward to making your ceremony one you will cherish forever.

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

Each wedding is unique and personal to the couple. The best weddings for our team are those where the couple express who they are by adding personal touches to their ceremony. This is your day, do it your way!

We love it when couples included their beloved pets. Dogs are more than welcome in all outdoor locations.

Where does the income from your ceremony go?

Stourhead is part of the National Trust and as such, we have a duty to look after, conserve our property so that it can be enjoyed by everyone for ever. Stourhead was created with a 'painterly eye' and this means we have many locations for beautiful photography. The views across the lake as well as the Temple of Apollo are truly stunning for group images or why not head onto the bridge at golden hour for some couple shots.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

The view from the Temple of Apollo is beautiful backdrop for group shots, with the Palladian Bridge offering truly special couple images or why not re-create the famous Pride and Prejudice scene by being Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy.

What time can we access the venue on the day of the ceremony?

You and your suppliers can access the venue from 9.30am on the day of the ceremony for set up.

Our marquee locations can be accessed two days before the ceremony to allow your suppliers to set up as these locations are hired on a dry basis. Therefore you need to hire a generator, toilets and marquee from external suppliers. We will provide you with a list of local suppliers we have worked with previously.

As a venue we are open throughout the year and the views are beautiful year round. We provide ceremonies from April to September to maximise these views and weather and each month has its own unique look and feel.
