Minterne House was the perfect backdrop to our fairytale autumn wedding. Having the venue for the entire weekend made the experience truly special — many of our family and friends were able to stay, and we spent the Friday setting up together before relaxing and enjoying the beautiful facilities of the estate, including the pool, hot tub, and gardens. That evening we shared dinner and drinks, which made it feel as though the celebrations had already begun. The wedding day itself was absolutely exquisite, and we received so many compliments from our guests on how stunning the venue was. A special thank you to Emily, the coordinator at Minterne, who was a joy to work with from start to finish. From our very first meeting she made us feel welcome and completely at ease, always going above and beyond to accommodate our every need. She was present throughout the weekend and ensured everything ran seamlessly on the day itself. We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect venue. We considered quite a few manor houses in Dorset and Somerset for our wedding reception after the service at Sherborne Abbey, but Minterne House stood head and shoulders above the others. For starters, it's an absolutely beautiful house and gardens (waking up in the wedding suite and looking out over the grounds on a sunny morning was just sublime) but also Minterne House also has such a warm and happy vibe. You certainly don’t get that kind of feeling everywhere, and no doubt it's down in part to it being a family home, so it feels loved. The wedding coordinator, Emily, was simply fantastic - she was always so friendly and calm at every meeting and helped remind us of details we'd forgotten without making us feel silly or stressed. She also made sure everything ran so smoothly on our big day. Lord Digby also popped in a couple of times to say hello and he was extremely welcoming and interested in our ideas for the reception. Minterne House was the perfect size for our party of 100 guests and the fairytale look of the house and gardens fitted perfectly with our ethereal-style vision. Cannot recommend it enough! Minterne House is a beautiful venue, the grounds, the house itself, the history. What made it so much more was Emily and the team. Emily was our wedding planner on the day and went above and beyond to make our day seamless. Our day, from start to finish was faultless and we could not of done it without her. Stunning grounds, the sunshine picking out glorious autumnal colours enhanced by swans on the lake, with two white ponies contentedly grazing nearby. Stupendous interior complimented by the warm welcome of all staff who were efficient and unobtrusive. We had the most magical weekend at Minterne. The venue itself is spectacular and you will struggle to find anywhere half as magical but the whole team made the day so amazing. The venue - Minterne House is an absolutely stunning venue, rich in both decadence and history, and was the perfect location for our wedding reception. As you meander up the drive you are instantly taken by the building and its surrounding landscape, a sentiment often repeated to us by our guests on the day, and that theme continues throughout as you explore the various rooms. The most stunning venue and gardens this location truly is magical and we had the best wedding day here with the sun shining surrounded by stunning countryside views. The grounds are beautiful and the house is so smart it really is something special. We stayed in the flat within the house and it was so clean and spacious it had everything we needed and so handy for the big day. Absolutely Phenomenal!Absolutely Phenomenal!
The first time we visited Minterne House it was a miserable rainy day in January - despite the weather we knew it was perfect. The house is absolutely breathtaking and steeped in history, but still has a comforting homely feel. We took advantage of the beautiful interior and had our wedding breakfast inside. The high ceilings and double height windows made it feel beautifully open and airy. With 90 guests it felt wonderfully intimate at the same time. We took advantage of the balcony and staircase to make an entrance into our wedding breakfast, which felt incredibly unique. The reception rooms and front lawn are both perfect options for the drinks reception, so whether it’s sunny or rainy it’s utterly perfect. Along with using the main house we also had guests in Lady Jane’s Apartment and Churchill House. Both are beautifully designed (with extremely comfortable beds) and have everything you could wish for - including rather delicious biscuits! The whole team were incredibly accommodating, Lord Digby was always on hand for the duration of our stay - whether it be wifi or heating questions. Finally, our day wouldn’t have been as spectacular without the phenomenal support of Emily (Emily Rose Wedding and Events), Minterne House’s Wedding Planner. From liaising with all of our suppliers, to setting up our time plan, to answering all of our questions in the lead up she was just incredible. On the day it felt like having a friend guide us through the various moments and make sure all was on track. I got married in October at Minterne House and it was outstanding! The house and the grounds are breathtakingly beautiful and it was the perfect setting for our Autumn wedding. Lord Digby and the wonderful staff who helped out made us feel very at home when we spent the wedding weekend there. They were all so kind and accommodating and any issues that may have cropped up, were covered and the day went so smoothly! They went above and beyond and every wish that I had for the day was granted by them, which you don’t get at a lot of venues. The accommodation on site is fantastic for guests - it was amazing having the wedding party and family on site the whole weekend. Every guest spoke about how stunning the venue was and marvelled at the incredible history of the house. Minterne House is truly one of a kind and will hold a place in my heart forever.
