We believe every wedding should be as unique as the couple getting married, and our friendly in-house team will work with you to create a day that’s perfect for you. Hodsock Priory has five beautiful civil ceremony locations for you to say your ‘I do’s, including Buchanan Hall, an elegant, chandelier-lit space, as well as the Panelled Hall, an atmospheric, oak-panelled room full of charm. If you love the idea of an al-fresco celebration, we also have a stunning Georgian gazebo tucked away in a secluded part of our gardens, which is licensed for outdoor civil ceremonies.

Skye supported us all day and we didn’t have to worry about a thing as she had everything in hand. Our guests have raved about the ease of the day and the bangers and mash, we were all so full we could only eat half of our amazing sticky toffee pudding. We did visit several others to make sure, but it was always Hodsock. Apart from the venue itself being absolutely stunning inside and out, the service was second to none. India was our coordinator and we couldn’t have asked for more, she was helpful, understanding, calming when needed, she helped us plan and consider everything. She was present from our first meeting and throughout our day. Even a medical emergency just before our ceremony didn’t ruffle her. The whole team at Hodsock were simply amazing, nothing was too much trouble, they were attentive, friendly, organised, and looked after us and our guests throughout. Everything ran smoothly and the whole day was absolutely everything we had dreamed of. And the food…. Devine!!!! We knew from the minute we first visited this beautiful venue it was the one for us. We knew, instantly! This place has a feeling! Fast forward nearly 2 years & we had our day… It couldn’t have been anymore perfect! Every detail was thought of. The girls & guys that looked after us before & during our day were the most down to earth, amazing people, with us through ever step & nothing was too much trouble! We can’t thank you enough! If we could do it all again, we would! It really is the staff that bring this beautiful venue to life. We had so many compliments from our guests on how great the staff were, how comfy the beds were and how tasty the food was! Our guests were also thrilled with the portion sizes (generous portions and excellent quality!) The cheese board in the evening was exceptional and beautifully presented! In spite of the wind and rain we truly couldn't have had a more perfect day. Hodsock really is the full package. Our wedding day at Hodsock Priory what was simply the most incredible day. - OOlivia & Christian12/12/2024Our Perfect Day at Hodsock❤️Our Perfect Day at Hodsock❤️First of all, the venue speaks for itself, it’s truly beautiful and we fell in love with it from the moment we viewed it! During the preparation the only issue we had were some price increases to the food menu, but once I started chatting with Jess our wedding coordinator she helped us to figure out how to make things work for our budget without feeling like we were sacrificing anything important. 6 months before is when communication really increases and you start to see how special this venue and its team really are. We had a lovely night at the menu tasting and when we had our final planning meeting we spent the afternoon making sure everything was just how we would like - I’m such a planner and a clock watcher and Jess made us feel like we could let go of control and just enjoy every moment. On the morning of the wedding myself, my mum and my bridesmaids had the continental breakfast and spent time in the ‘bridal’ room and my husband and his groomsman and my dad spent time in the clubhouse where they had bacon sandwiches. The honeymoon suite made the perfect room for pictures in my dress and doing ‘reveals’ with my bridesmaids and dad. Again, Jess was amazing, helping us all to stay on time (ish…) and offering help to my mum when I was getting changed and having pictures in my wedding dress in the huge bath (would recommend doing this!) Our ceremony was perfect and we even got outside to do our pictures and a confetti shot, the weather was super windy but it made for some fab pics and the blossoms looked beautiful which was one of the reasons we booked for April! The wedding breakfast was a real highlight, we decided against canapès, our starter was a tapas plate, main was Sausage and Mash with caramelised onion gravy which went down a treat (we still have people talking about it now!) and we went for a trio of desserts too - perfect for the indecisive person that I am! The children’s menu also went down well with our flower girl and page boy. The evening was brilliant as the room changes from day to night and the lighting gives all the party vibes. The venue is ideal in the sense that there is always somewhere to go and chat when you’re not on the dance floor and the bar staff were brilliant at keeping mine and my husbands drinks topped up and serving our friends and family super quickly. The night flew by and everyone had a fantastic time. We finished off our day with our nearest and dearest in the Library where we shared a charcuterie board and some drinks, it was the most lovely end to the day and I’d really recommend doing this. All of the rooms are to a beautiful standard and the breakfast the next day was to the same standard as the wedding menu. We truly didn’t want to leave and plan to go back and visit whenever we can. All the staff are amazing at what they do and I love how easy they make the day for you. They are super organised and make sure everything runs smoothly on your big day. I love how they go above and beyond and provide things like a taster night before your big day for you to sample the foods. The view as we were driving down the drive… WOW 🤩 My husband really wanted to get married outside after our plans had to change from getting married abroad. We were there for 5 minutes and he decided we did not have to look any further. Hodsock had everything! From the gazebo for us to have our ceremony outside, 17 beautiful aesthetic bedrooms which our family and friends admired on the day. The different places we could have photos taken and the modern but vintage feel we were looking for. Our wedding coordinator Jess was AMAZING, the whole team were brilliant. We included them all in our package and they all kindly accepted and mingled like they were apart of our wedding. If we wanted something changing, it was done. If we asked for something it was sorted, any questions were answered straight away. Honestly there aren’t enough words to describe how magical they made it for us. The wedding breakfast was delicious, we were worried about waste in the evening but weren't we wrong! There wasn’t even a single chip left. Even though we were in our wedding love bubble, we both felt so sad it was over. Roll on the 10 year anniversary we will be back to celebrate 🥂 We cannot thank Hodsock enough, it was THE best day with memories we will cherish forever. What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
We often get asked for our advice throughout our couples wedding planning journey. Our top tip has always been the same, to remember to take a moment for yourselves. Take a step back to appreciate your countless hours of hard work and planning, embrace your new husband or wife and just soak in all the love shared by your friends and family on your special day.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
An idea that we always love, is when our couples share and frame their most cherished family photos. This adds a lovely personal touch and truly makes the venue feel like yours.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The most popular photo spots at our venue would have to be the ante room or panelled hall becasue of its history. A great spot in the gardens is just past the lake looking back at the house. The gardens are beautiful in all seasons, in the summer sun but especially when the snowdrops bloom in winter.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
As Hodsock Priory is only available for exclusive hire, your seclusion and privacy is guaranteed. Our most famous guest would have to be Henry VIII.
What’s your favourite canapé?
A question too difficult to answer, one of our most popular would have to be the Baby Yorkshire puddings with rare fillet of beef. Each of our couples get to experience our Head Chef's culinary expertise on our tasting events. Marc will carefully create a tasting menu which makes those all important decisions about your wedding breakfast and the best wine pairings a little more easier.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Our ploughman boards, who doesn't love cheese anytime of the day!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our most unique feature is our Grade I list Tudor Gatehouse. In August 1541, Henry VIII and wife #5 Katherine Howard came to visit the Gatehouse and had lunch with their host Sir Gervase Clifton. The gatehouse was believed to have been built for this purpose, that and to have a view out over Sherwood Forest which then stretched to Hodsock. Now an unforgettable welcome for you and you wedding guests as well as a beautiful backdrop for your wedding portraits.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
We are most proud of our team! When looking for your dream venue, the people who are going to be part of your wedding planning journey are just as important as the venue itself. Are they welcoming and friendly? Are they willing to help answer all your questions, big and small? And are they willing to make your craziest ideas a reality? Our team are.
