Ellingham Hall is a privately owned venue set in eight stunning acres of Northumbrian countryside. From traditional exteriors to contemporary finishes, the Estate includes the elegant country house with 22 bedrooms, extensive gardens and five unique indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces for up to 140 day and 180 evening guests for a unique and entirely exclusive two-night wedding experience. Everything ran like clockwork, the venue was gorgeous, the rooms comfortable and the food and drink flowing. I highly recommend this venue, especially their last minute availability pricing. Ellingham was transformed into a winter wonderland with its beautiful Christmas decor. The Friday night was so lovely to be able to spend time with all our loved ones together before the big day. The team were so friendly and really felt like an extension of our wedding party/guests. You’re truly made to feel like the venue is your home. Everyone was so attentive and the whole weekend was stress free.We got married at the beginning of December and went for a 3 day wedding, Friday-Sunday. The weather was perfect and the venue was amazing.The staff were so attentive to everything that we needed. We had everything that we required throughout the day and the peacocks were a perfect touch. All our guests had the most amazing day and we have had nothing but compliments about the venue,food and staff. The decor was beautiful and finished to a high standard and absolutely exceptional rooms.My husband and I had our wedding at Ellingham in June and I can’t recommend them enough. We loved coming back to see the hall to start visualising our winter wedding. But I was unprepared to see how beautiful the hall looked when decorated for Christmas! The rooms were amazing and perfect for us. It allowed us to have our family and wedding party all under one roof which is exactly what we wanted. We loved the 2-night experience. The night before allowed us time to relax and spend time with our loved ones before our big day. Everyone enjoyed the Den and all its games, I don't think anyone had the early night we had planned. The food was … INCREDIBLE! We had so many complements from our guests about the throughout the day. All dietary requirements were catered for (sorry for the long list Wendy!). The wedding breakfast service was impeccable and we can’t thank you enough for keeping a meal back for my brother in law and my nephew. All the serving staff were fantastic - I am glad I went for the served wine rather than bottles on the tables. The cocktail tower to welcome our evening guests seemed to be never ending and the cocktails were gorgeous. The chapel looked fabulous for our evening entertainment and people were dancing all night long. We cannot fault anything during our wedding weekend. You brought our dreams to life and we had the best weekend of our lives! I thought I would be stressed the night before the wedding, but I was able to hand everything over to the capable hands of the team at Ellingham. Everything just happened, I didn’t even need to think about worrying about my spreadsheet plans. We are so glad that we were able to have some of our photos in the grounds, despite the gale force winds! It was an incredible day at an incredible venue making for a perfect wedding! Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
It's always tough to single out on particular wedding. Some of the most enjoyable recently have involved couples surprising guests with drag queen performances in the evening. The atmosphere is always electric and what a way to start an evening reception!
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Get yourselves a wedding email! Not just to help with regards to planning in general but you can get all your RSVP's to go there and also all your information from suppliers - often wedding inbox's can be full and it's easy for wedding information to get lost! It's also easier to monitor your junk folder from a dedicated wedding email address and as many emails from venues or suppliers will jump in there for the first time.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
When the couples dog is ring bearer its such a emotional moment for the couple.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
We have so many stunning photo spots within the Hall and 8 acres of stunning gardens and woodland. However our couples always love stunning country house as a backdrop for their picture perfect portraits. During summer the plush greens of the creeping Virginia make a real statement beneath the blue skies and during autumn, the leaves turn to warm shades of reds and orange tones for the perfect autumnal backdrop.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We've hosted quite a few celebrity weddings from TV and Radio presenters to England Cricket Stars.
What’s your favourite canapé?
Our Menu features 12 delicious canape options so its very difficult to choose one. In the winter season our festive canapes are always a winner!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Our midnight menu of course! This delicious menu is perfect when you have the munchies at the end of the wedding day. Our menu includes bacon & sausage baps, pizza slices, chicken wings and hot dogs and is a perfect treat before you head down for the ultimate wedding after party in our underground after dark party chamber.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our 19th century Chapel features an iconic window which is loved by couples. As the day gently fades, the last rays of light often illuminate the original stone features, casting a soft ethereal glow that creates captivating portraits for you both to cherish forever!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Our multi award-winning team, who consistently deliver a fantastic experience to our couples and their guests. The Ellingham Weddings Team were crowned the UKs Best Events Team in 2024, having achieved the National Highly Commended accolade in 2023. They have also been crowned Regional Winners for TWIA Events Team of the Year for the North East & Yorkshire for the last 3 consecutive years. We pride ourselves in investing in our team to make sure we have only the best set of people to look after you on your journey with us.
