Located amongst breathtaking scenery in Royal Deeside, Douneside House is a multi-award-winning country house hotel that’s steeped in rich history and character.
You’ll arrive the day before your wedding, where you’ll have an opportunity to gather, relax, and celebrate with family and friends. We can assist with organising a fantastic choice of activities. Imagine …. yoga on the infinity lawn, cocktail or whisky masterclass, golf, fishing or shooting on our Estate … to name a few.
That evening, your wedding party will be accommodated on-site in our range of luxury hotel bedrooms and on-site holiday cottages and apartments. The main house features 10 unique bedrooms, ranging from spacious deluxe rooms to cosy doubles. Each cottage and apartment features ensuite bedrooms, a kitchenette and a range of amenities, including luxury toiletries, tea and coffee, and fluffy towels.
On your wedding morning, all your guests will enjoy a beautifully prepared cooked breakfast, served by our team in the main house. You may prefer room service, or an intimate breakfast with just your close wedding party in the Library.
You can choose where your wedding ceremony will take place. Our Conservatory is light and airy, or, if the weather is kind, the infinity lawn with the Grampian mountains in the distance creating the most spectacular backdrop.
After the ceremony, the drinks reception can take place on our Terrace, or during the wintery months, in our traditional Highland bar, with a roaring fire and cosy corners.
One of the many highlights of your time at Douneside will be the dining – our chefs will work with you to ensure it’s a menu to remember.

The staff were attentive and efficient (particular Gordon who looked after our party for at least two days). The food was excellent. And departing Tuesday. Attentive staff at all times without being too present. Food was top quality the whole weekend. Genuinely a beautiful place to stay with a very calming atmosphere. The situation was marvellous, the hotel lovely, room and bed extremely comfortable but I think the secret weapon of the hotel is its staff. Behind scenes, waiting staff and front of house were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much to ask and they ensured a great time had by all. The gardens and accommodation are stunning and the attention to detail is excellent. The staff are friendly, warm and polite without being in any way pretentious. The complimentary afternoon tea was a nice touch and a great way to ease into our stay. And then there was the tasting menu and paired wines.
