There can hardly be a more perfect setting for a wedding than a castle hidden in an enchanting forest. Clearwell Castle, nestled within the natural beauty of the Forest of Dean, is a dreamlike award-winning wedding venue. A fairy tale land just 45 minutes from Bristol, the castle can host both civil ceremonies and receptions in its gorgeous Ballroom and it can accommodate up to 250 guests for the reception and party. The whole property can be yours for a day, or even two.

Always there to help us in preparation, answer any questions and simply put so much into the day that it didn't feel stressful for us in the lead up at all! Phaedra was a brilliant Personal Wedding Manager, running things seamlessly before, during and after the event, as well as the rest of the staff working on the day - we are so thankful. It is a beautiful venue, and everything ran smoothly, and we couldn't have asked for a better venue for our special day, and would highly recommend it. Our guests all commented on how wonderful the venue was and had a lovely time. Ann and Ruby were outstanding! I love that they made us feel calm and relaxed about everything happening, keeping us informed about things and overall gave amazing vibes like our wedding was the only thing that mattered. We had our dream wedding and Clearwell. It is a beautiful venue, and everything ran smoothly, and we couldn't have asked for a better venue for our special day, and would highly recommend it. Our guests all commented on how wonderful the venue was and had a lovely time. Ann and Ruby were outstanding! Emma (who helped us on the day) was and has been amazing throughout the whole process. The food was amazing; it came out quickly and was still hot, and everyone had good feedback. DJ was brilliant and played everything we asked for and some requests. The fish and chip supper was also amazing, and went down a treat. The open day we attended was brilliant, and we sort of knew straight away we wanted to get married there. Emma (who helped us on the day) was and has been amazing throughout the whole process. The food was amazing; it came out quickly and was still hot, and everyone had good feedback. DJ was brilliant and played everything we asked for and some requests. Everything is tastefully decorated and timeless. The grounds are beautiful and incredibly well-maintained; they looked picture-perfect. The bedrooms are lovely and are in keeping with the style of the rest of the house. We had multiple emails, calls and Zoom calls with Phaedra. She was absolutely incredible, nothing was a problem, and she made me feel very at ease with the whole Process. The house is absolutely stunning and in keeping with the period. The Portcullis. Day or Night. A fabulous backdrop for photos within the Castle grounds.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Many a time but sadly we have to keep the who and the when to ourselves!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Rare peppered roast beef served in a mini Yorkshire pudding with a horseradish cream mousse! Yum!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
The night porters cheese on toast with a splash of Worcestershire sauce – a classic and a favourite for lots.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our beautiful ballroom; the perfect ceremony location with its 75-foot aisle giving a grand entrance. The Ballroom exudes elegance. A feature fireplace, high ceilings, arched windows with views in to the grounds. The backdrop for the ‘I do’s’.
