- LLydia & Ant26/11/2025The perfect city centre wedding venueThe perfect city centre wedding venueWe love the Canalhouse as a pub so when we saw they did weddings, it was an easy decision to pick this as our venue. Amy, the events manager, was amazing from start to finish. She immediately understood our vision for decor and we always had very thorough breakdowns of cost and what to expect on the day, along with very prompt and reassuring communication. The pictures speak for themselves! The room looked incredible, both cosy and rustic, and it made our day feel magical. All the food was great and our guests loved the variety (plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too), and the room was a perfect size to feel intimate without being crowded. There's also lots of good photo opportunities around the Canalhouse. We knew it would be a great venue, but it still exceeded all our expectations and we still get many comments from guests on how much they loved the venue!We love the Canalhouse as a pub so when we saw they did weddings, it was an easy decision to pick this as our venue. Amy’s expertise really came through, and she guided us through what our day would look like and the plan of the day without any pressure to keep adding to the cost. Any question was answered promptly and nothing was too much to ask for. The room looked fantastic, Amy really understood our style and vibe for the day and everyone commented on how beautiful it looked, including all the pumpkins! The day itself went brilliantly, the food was really good, we had the bbq buffet and everyone commented on how nice it was. The bar staff on the day were really nice and friendly which added to a lovely day as well. Thank you so much for making our wedding day memorable! Amy, the Events Manager, and her amazing team went above and beyond to make our day truly unforgettable. From our very first meeting, Amy was warm, welcoming, and incredibly organised. She put us at ease straight away and made sure every detail was thought through. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her…she even met with our DJs ahead of time to coordinate the evening plans and timings! We brought in our own decorations and shared our vision for the day, and Amy and her team quite literally brought our dream to life. Walking into the room as husband and wife and seeing it all come together for the first time was magical. The food was exceptional…it arrived on time, tasted amazing, and catered perfectly for guests with allergies and special requests. We received so many compliments on how efficient, friendly, and attentive the staff were throughout the day. Honestly, our wedding wouldn’t have been as perfect without Amy. It was a fantastic afternoon and evening hosted by Amy and the brilliant canal house team. Amy went to great lengths to set the day up to Nicola and Bens requirements and ensured all the timings for food, speeches etc ran like clockwork. The Buffet meals, canapé and evening hot snacks were all really nice. I suggest if your planning a wedding and would like a venue with great service and atmosphere that you have a chat with Amy. We had a lot of setbacks with our wedding as lockdown hit just as we were supposed to get married, so we didn't want to spend lots on our reception since we'd already had the actual ceremony 4 years earlier! The venue is so pretty without any decorations anyway, but Amy kindly put out some decorations for free for us on the night. We also saved money on a DJ by plugging our laptop into their sound system and it worked brilliantly, even better than a DJ as it meant we had a personalised playlist! Food went down really well with our guests and at the end of the night, my dad had a medical emergency and Andrew drove us to the hospital, he was amazing and looked after us when we got to A&E as well.
