Describe the best wedding that happened at Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa?
One of the best wedding’s we had was an exclusive use wedding a few years ago. The bride and groom chose our venue as it was a place they visited regularly, and from these visits they decided it was a special place to have their big day.
Their wedding breakfast was inspired by their favourite holiday to America which consisted Mini Burgers and Grilled Cheese Canapés, followed by hot Chicken wings for starter, Pulled Pork, Rump Steak and a Shelled King Prawn with Sweet Potato Fries for main, and a trio of their favourite desserts- Warm Brownies, Apple Crumble with a shot of Custard and Baileys Panna Cotta.
Having exclusive use meant that the house, grounds and gardens was solely at the weddings disposal. The wedding theme was elegant with a touch of simplicity using the classic colours of red, white and silver throughout their flowers, centrepieces and bridesmaid dresses with a less is more approach.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
My number one tip is time. You must ensure you allow yourself plenty of time when planning your big day. From booking the civil ceremony, allocating bedrooms and tasting the wedding food, the most important thing is that it’s not rushed so everything will run smoothly. You can easily get wrapped up in the whirlwind around you, so try to sit back and let everyone around you help where they can.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Many weddings like to add a personal touch to their weddings. What seems to be a popular idea is remembering a loved one who cannot attend the big day. Whether this is in the form of a photo frame, or including them on the table plan, a small touch like this is lovely.
