At Mossie’s, we specialise in micro weddings for up to 12 guests.
Keeping celebrations small allows the day to feel intentional and relaxed. You’re able to spend meaningful time with each guest, sit down properly for dinner, and enjoy the atmosphere without feeling pulled in different directions. It’s a different pace — calmer, more connected, and genuinely personal.
Our home is a beautifully restored 19th-century country house set on seven acres of landscaped gardens and mature woodland. From the front of the house, there are open views across Bantry Bay, while the Caha Mountains rise behind us. The setting feels private and peaceful, with sea and mountain views shaping the backdrop of your celebration.
When you book Mossie’s for your special day, the property is exclusively yours. We close the day before and after each wedding to prepare everything with care, so you arrive to a space that feels ready and considered. There are no other guests on site and no overlapping events. From check-in at 2pm to check-out at 1pm the following day, you have the time and privacy to settle in and let the celebration unfold naturally.
The atmosphere is relaxed and quietly luxurious. We care deeply about making guests feel well looked after, but without stiffness or excessive formality. Fires are lit in the lounge, tables are set with intention, and the house feels warm and welcoming. Each bedroom is individually designed with soothing tones and natural textures. While every room has its own character, they all share the same essentials: comfort, space, and a sense of calm. Having everyone stay under one roof means the evening flows easily into the night, and the morning after becomes part of the experience.
Ceremonies can take place outdoors in the garden with the sea as your backdrop (weather permitting), or indoors for a more intimate setting. With a small group, there is flexibility in how the day is structured. Some couples choose a simple ceremony followed by drinks and a long, candlelit dinner. Others begin with a slow morning walk in the countryside, followed by a relaxing sauna session before the celebration begins.
Our menus are shaped by the seasons and built around what is fresh and available locally. We work closely with fishermen and butchers in Beara and West Cork to source exceptional seafood and meats. The dishes reflect the region — honest, vibrant, and full of flavour. Our chef, Pema, trained at Ballymaloe, brings creativity and a strong farm-to-table ethos to each menu. The focus is always on quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and generous hospitality.
As a small business, personal care is at the heart of what we do. We (Vanessa & Matti) are present throughout your stay, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. We coordinate suppliers, manage timings, light the fires, and take care of the small details that make a difference.
We are always nearby, giving you space while quietly making sure everything feels effortless.
A wedding at Mossie’s is simply about gathering your closest people in a beautiful setting, being well looked after, and celebrating in a way that feels natural and true to you.
Weddings here are purely symbolic. Couples must take care of the legal marriage separately before or after their stay.
We hold ceremonies outdoors on our beautiful grounds whenever possible. However, if the weather forecast looks uncertain, we make the final decision 2-3 days in advance to ensure a smooth experience. If needed, we’ll move the ceremony inside to a cosy space, with enough room for all guests.
We personally coordinate everything onsite. Vanessa takes care of styling, decor and schedule, while Matti ensures the smooth running of the day and all behind-the-scenes details.
Micro weddings have a minimum stay of 2 nights. Most couples arrive the evening before the wedding day, sharing a relaxed first evening together before the celebrations begin the following day. We find that staying three to four nights allows the experience to unfold at a comfortable pace. It also means you can make the most of your time here. The Beara Peninsula is a must!
We don’t work with traditional wedding packages. Instead, we offer a clear venue rate that includes accommodation and exclusive use, with optional add-ons depending on your plans.
Yes, you are more than welcome to bring your own alcohol. A one-time fee of €190 will apply.
