What is your most memorable wedding?
Kirsty and Neil at Pratis Farm (Our first Wedding!) While Natalie & Andy at Dundas castle was like something out of a Disney movie, Kirsty and Neil's day allowed us to capture so much of them in one film, such as the father of the bride accidentally downing a half pint of vodka instead of water (Don't worry, he was fine) and the best groom speech opening line we've heard; "I had hoped I could send this to you all in an email"!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Personal, Unobtrusive, Cinematic, Detailed, Attentive
What about your business are you most proud of?
Our reviews - Our goal is to create something that is about you and your day, and has sentimental value. We make our wedding films for you, not for our showreel, and our reviews reflect that.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Plan for everything, expect at least three things not to go perfect. But thats OK - In fact, those tend to be the most memorable moments.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Megan and Chris at Balbirnie House - With our two camera operators as standard, we film the bride and groom prep, and for the day Chris had prepared a hand made book entitled '10 reasons I can't wait to marry you'. We captured Chris presenting it first to his soon to be in-laws, before they delivered it to Megan, and all the tears that followed.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
When a couple is interested in our service they should get in touch and we set up a no obligation meeting, either in person or video chat. We then introduce ourselves and go over everything it is we do and if the couple want to book, they pay their deposit and then their date is booked. Close to the date we get in touch with the other suppliers (Photographer etc.) and arrange a visit to the venue to scout it out beforehand. On the day we arrive at least an hour beforehand and film the entire day until the pre-agreed time with the couple and the film is edited with on average a six week turnaround. Once the couple has approved a watermarked version of the film, the rest of the balance is due and the online, USB and personalised DVD copies are delivered, all in a laser engraved presentation case.
What is the most exciting thing you have caught on camera?
A FLASHMOB! Linsey & Jade are both dance teachers, and Jade had organised a surprise flashmob from their students and it was absolutely stunning!
What is the one film you wish you had directed and why?
Green Book - This has quickly become one of my favourite films from Ali's absolutely magnetic performance to Mortenson's magnificent pizza eating skills, I think it's absolutely beautiful with a heartfelt and tactfully delivered message that is especially relevant in today's times.
What is your favourite soundtrack to put to a wedding video?
While we use Artlist so source our copyright free music, I would always love to use music by Bon Iver, particularly 'Holocene' - I think it is a hauntingly beautiful piece of music that compliments any personal moment between couples.
Describe how you got into videography.
While at college, we decided that we wanted to start our own production company, producing everything from corporate content to music videos. We filmed our first wedding in 2017 and we realised that it was something we loved doing because it was something that had sentimental value and meant something to the couple. Since then, Stag and Doe has become our primary business and we've not looked back!
