Because I started this business during Covid times, I didn't see many dancefloors in my early days. However, while it took a while for restrictions to finally lift, When I did film my first full reception it was incredible.
It was shortly after restrictions on dancefloors had lifted. There was a live band booked, and a huge number of very lively guests. The band were incredible, the dance moves were outstanding (there was even a dance off) and everyone was so unbelievably happy! Being able to capture that evening and present an edit to the couple that captured the energy of that day, was a brilliant feeling to me.
Natural, Unobtrusive, Relaxed, Friendly and Approachable.
When first starting out, I had very little to my name and would frequently rely on borrowing equipment from others, lots of driving back a forth between wedding days, and lots of miles put onto may car. Yes, that is where the name 'Something Borrowed' originated!
Always ask your suppliers for advice!

P.s. Don't worry to much about your speeches/ ceremony, Everyone in that room is there to celebrate you and your partner! Your wedding is your chance to step into the limelight at your absolute best.
One of the first couples I shot a wedding for got engaged in Peru, something they fell in love with while trekking there was the sheer number of Llamas. Throughout the venue they had scattered around small, plush , snow white Llama toys. Great for the kids, but also an adorable touch for their big day.
After an enquiry I will set up a phone call to have a chat with the Bride/Groom, following this I will meet you at your chosen venue so we can have a walk around and get to know each other little better. This also helps me figure out camera and microphone placement if you are having your speeches filmed.
On the day I will usually arrive early and spend an hour or so shooting various exterior/detail shots around the venue.
Throughout the day, I will communicate with a nominated guest to keep me updated as to when key events are taking place, and to help me with organizing people for certain shots. This is usually a bridesmaid or groomsman (It does help if they have a big voice at times). I'll always reach out to your coordinator and photographer before hand. Getting familiar with them means we can work together on the day to make sure everyone is happy the flow isn't interrupted.
At the end of the night I'll say my goodbyes and head back home. I'll keep you updated as I edit your films, and aim to deliver them within 31 days of your wedding date. However some longer runtimes could go beyond this.
A first dance outdoors, just as the sun was going down, so much golden light!
The Revenant, I love filming on location and out in the wild. To go and film somewhere as remote as rural Montana would be a great challenge to take on.
I'm also a huge fan of hunt for the wilder people. It has a very touching story with great pacing throughout, and fun to watch all the same.
