In 2018 the Liverpool Echo asked me to film the Win a Wedding of terminally ill bride Kaylea Callagher to her childhood sweetheart Mark. Kaylea had her bridal preparations at the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool on 10th November. Hundreds of people turned up at the church to cheer her on and she glowed, a Gospel Choir appeared as if by magic to serenade the couple with 'Stand By Me' as the newlyweds emerged from the church.
During the reception at The Isla Gladstone in Stanley Park the bride's sister sang an emotional tribute to her sister and fireworks lit up the skyline of the bandstand as I filmed my final shots. Shortly after I delivered the couple feature length and highlights wedding films Kaylea posted on my Facebook page saying "Can't stop watching this/ Thank you so so much for capturing our special day. Memories my family can hold forever. Thank you so much xxx
Late morning 16th January 2019 the makeup lady phoned me. She didn't say a word, she merely sighed and we both wept. Kaylea had passed away in the early hours of that morning. She was so lovely and appreciative of everyone who gave their services on her special day. All I can say is I gave of my very best that day and am proud to have been involved.
Stylish, cinematic, upbeat, feel-good and unobtrusive.
The reviews I get such as:
“We had Neil as our videographer for our wedding on the 29th April 2023. From start to finish I must say he is a true professional. He ensures that he gets the best possible video for your special day. He is so good at what he does.
I cant thank him enough for what he captured. We have probably watched it 100 times already and it gives us goosebumps each time. Thank you Neil for capturing our most perfect day so beautifully.
You truly are a remarkable videographer and would recommend him to anyone looking. A videographer is always an added expense to a special day but absolutely worth while. The photographs really can’t capture it like a well made video does.
Thank you Neil.”
Follow your instincts when planning your day in terms of choosing the right venue that will work for you and your guests and also in your choice of suppliers rather than wondering what other couples do.
t was a wedding at Peckforton Castle. Both the bride and groom's grandmothers had passed away shortly before the wedding. When it had hone dark the couple released two silver balloons, which I filmed.
During the edit this shot found the perfect moment to appear, with tweaking by myself. I knew the appearing at that exact moment with the music would be poignant and magical to both the bride and groom.
As I imagined and knew when I did this the groom subsequently emailed me saying that they loved the whole film but at that moment watching the short highlights film triggered their waterworks and they felt it a suitable punctuation and tribute to their grandmothers.
The couple might contact me initially via social media or email (years ago it was by telephone or they might pop around to my home), followed by either a face to face meeting, Zoom or telephone call, prior to receiving a booking fee and sending confirmation via email.
Couples are free to contact me at any point prior to the wedding with a final catch up a month to two weeks prior to the wedding and receiving the payment balance.
This would have to be a vibrant coloured procession at an Indian Wedding followed by the couple having their faces painted by their guests.
Too many to choose from.
Since childhood I filmed and edited 8mm films using actual film, a splicer, caption roller and projector with my father. As a teenager I began writing my own music/film fanzine where I took the photographs.
I then completed a film degree and began directing music videos for Independent and major record labels shown on the likes of MTV, Television Documentaries for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, Corporate videos for numerous blue chip clients before being asked to film my sister's wedding and the her friends.
Photographers then started recommending me to couples wanting videography and this my wedding videography career began.
