In my first year I managed to win the best newcomer award at the Kent wedding awards and I got to share that moment with all my friends and family. What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Get to know you’re videographer/photographer, build a friendship with them before your big day, this way you’ll be so much more relaxed with his filming on the day. This creates some really cool and natural moments that are less forced.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I did a Disney themed wedding at the Hythe imperial and their table decorations were really creative, they had a full Disney scene setup on each table and the ‘up’ themed table had a little house on that even looked like it was floating.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After you enquire, I try to arrange a zoom call so you can get to know me or ask any questions you may have and see if I’m the right fit for your wedding. If you decide that you like me enough to book then ill send you the link to the online booking form and take the deposit. Then usually 4-6 weeks before the wedding we’ll arrange another call or a meeting just to go over all the fine details of the day, timings etc. After the wedding I try to get your trailer over to you quite quickly so you can relive that special day whilst you’re on your honeymoon. Then the full video should come in the following months.
What is the most exciting thing you have caught on camera?
I did a really cool signature shot on the beach in hythe, with lighting and smoke and that was a really exciting scene with the music working perfectly with it.
What is the one film you wish you had directed and why?
I would have loved to have worked alongside Anthony and Joe Russo on Avengers: End Game. It’s a pure cinematic masterpiece with so much anticipation and lets be honest being involved in the MCU in anyway would be a dream!
What is your favourite soundtrack to put to a wedding video?
Usually, I spend a fair amount of time looking for the right soundtrack. It needs to be gripping, the lyrics need to be able to speak to the couple and the music itself needs to be captivating enough not to be boring but melodic enough not to be like EDM haha. I think the music is just as important as the video to create as much emotion as I can. So I make sure I select the perfect song for each couple.
Describe how you got into videography.
I had been a photographer for a while, mainly landscape and fitness based. Then I got asked to film a friends wedding, I was paid £100 so that I could but a memory card haha. But being able to get creative in a whole new was was amazing and I found a whole new passion. Unfortunately, COVID took over the world so it slowed down progress. However, that just gave me so much time to practice and teach myself new skills ready for the wedding season.
