Wedding films for couples who want to enjoy their day, not perform for the camera
I’m John, the wedding videographer behind Spark & Story Films. I film weddings quietly and unobtrusively, capturing the voices, laughter, reactions and little moments that are easy to miss while the day flies by.
Your wedding does not need to become a production. I may offer a little guidance when it is helpful, but there are no lengthy staged shoots, repeated moments or pressure to perform. You can enjoy the day while I capture it as it genuinely unfolds.
More than how your wedding looked
Photographs will remind you what your wedding looked like. A wedding film allows you to hear it, feel it and relive it.
The nervous breath before the ceremony. The tremble in your voices during the vows. Your dad’s speech, the laughter around the tables and the people you love enjoying themselves when they think nobody is watching.
These moments may feel small at the time, but years from now they can become the most valuable parts of your film.
A calm and reassuring presence
I care just as much about your experience on the day as I do about the finished film.
Couples often tell me that I helped them feel relaxed, that they barely noticed the cameras and that I became a reassuring presence throughout the day. I am also usually the person helping with buttonholes, ties, pocket squares or anything else that needs sorting.
My priority is simple: allowing you to enjoy your wedding while making sure the moments that matter are preserved.
Photography and videography together
My wife, Sam, is a wedding photographer, and we also offer joint photography and videography collections.
Because we work together regularly, the day feels calm, coordinated and never overcrowded with cameras. You have one team, one relaxed approach and coverage that works seamlessly together.
Wedding content creation
Wedding content creation is also available as an optional add-on or standalone service.
This includes relaxed behind-the-scenes clips and vertical footage that can be delivered quickly after the wedding, while your main photographs and films are being carefully edited.
Where I film
I regularly film weddings across South Wales, Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds, and I am always happy to travel further.
Years from now, you will not watch your wedding film simply to remember what happened.

What is your most memorable wedding?
Being asked to film in a helicopter alongside the bride and groom whilst heading from one venue to another.

Hearing couples say that I am more like a life long friend than just a videographer.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make sure you take some evening food to your room as it's guaranteed you'll be peckish at the end of the night.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Dessert tables. Some couples are not fussed on cake but think it's a requirement to have one. It's your big day so do whatever you want. My wife and I had a dessert table as we aren't fussed on cake and it was amazing!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I am not just there to film your big day, I am there to look after you from the moment I arrive to the moment I leave. If you need drinks, I'll grab you a drink, nothing is too much!
What is the most exciting thing you have caught on camera?
Id have to say a helicopter landing with the bride. That was the first time In 500+ weddings.
What is the one film you wish you had directed and why?
Iron Man for sure. RDJ is just a cool guy!
What is your favourite soundtrack to put to a wedding video?
Not really got a favourite but I like to add something catchy.
Describe how you got into videography.
My wife is a wedding photographer with 17 years in the industry, so she was a huge influence. I used to film bands many many years ago so it was a no brainer really to get back into filming!
