FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Each and every wedding we have filmed has been memorable for us. Every wedding has been unique and especially beautiful. For me personally, I remember the very first wedding we filmed the best because it was a very touching, intimate ceremony held a couple of days before Christmas. The bride and groom had overcome a lot of heartache and their big day was a new beginning for them. It was a really wonderful wedding and one that I will never forget.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Fresh, elegant, timeless, happy, professional.

What about your business are you most proud of?

I'm most proud of the quality of our footage and editing. Our camera operators are really unobtrusive and manage to capture so many special moments during the course of the wedding day. Our editors work so hard to make sure that the finished film looks professional and polished. I am proud of every film we have ever made.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Create a unique hashtag (e.g. #josie&ben) and then put pretty signs up around your wedding venue asking guests to tag all of the photos that they took at your wedding using your unique hashtag. That way you get access to all the photos taken at your wedding.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

We filmed a wedding once that had black and white photos of the bride's mother and grandmother on their wedding days, along with their wedding dresses on stands. It was decorated in a really beautiful day and was lovely to see all three generations celebrating their special day.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Usually once I've spoken on the phone or chatted by email with the bride/groom we arrange to meet up in person to go over their options. Once everything is booked and we have the schedule for the wedding we will get in touch with the nominated contacts (usually a bridesmaid and groomsman) with whom we can make contact on the day. Our camera operators will arrive one hour before the ceremony so that we can take beautiful footage of the venue and grounds before the guests arrive. Throughout the day and evening we will liaise with the nominated contacts to make sure we know who the close family members are and exactly when the special events take place (like the tossing of the bouquet, etc..). Just before we leave our camera operators will say goodbye to the bride and groom and the nominated contacts. A few days after the wedding we will get in touch with the happy couple to update them on our progress. Completion of the final draft wedding film usually takes about 4-5 weeks, but may be sooner if we are not busy. We'll send the bride and groom a copy of the wedding film and if they would like any changes to be made (e.g. more footage of the cake cutting), we are more than happy to re-edit the film before sending the final set of wedding films to them.

What is the most exciting thing you have caught on camera?

I find every wedding to be really exciting and it's hard to say what was the most exciting thing we have filmed. We once filmed a wedding set in a bluebell woodland at the foot of the Pyrenees in a beautiful private estate. It was mid-summer and as soon as the ceremony was over, everyone stripped off to their swimwear (which we did not know was under their formal attire!) and jumped into a massive swimming pool. It was very exciting to film and looked wonderful in slow motion on the finished wedding film.

What is the one film you wish you had directed and why?

Without a doubt it would have to be Life of Pie. The cinematography is amazing and the storyline is really touching. I'm a bit of a softie at heart!

What is your favourite soundtrack to put to a wedding video?

We always ask the bride and groom if they would like to choose their own music but we are also very happy to offer suggestions. My favourite song for the into and ceremony footage is usually Fire in My Heart by the Super Furry Animals and then for the evening celebrations I like the song Happy by Pharrell Williams.

Describe how you got into videography.

By chance a lot of my friends are camera operators, editors and TV producers. I was talking with a friend about what we thought would be the most fun and rewarding thing to film and we both agreed that creating wedding films would be amazing. That was when Bluebell Wedding Films was first created and we've loved every moment of it since then!
