Arran Kenny is an award-winning wedding videographer based in Dorset, England. He specialises in producing emotive films that are bespoke to every couple. Because every couple is different, Arran thinks every wedding film should be completely unique and individual. It should encapsulate the relationship of the couple and their priorities but also reflect their personalities as individuals.
Arran brings an academic passion for cinema to his work, applying simple cinematic principles to evoke emotion. He always wants his wedding films to be more of an experience than a document of the day. Every decision he makes in the wedding filmmaking process is intentional, designed to make couples feel the emotions of the day all over again. Couples, photographers, and planners admire his comfortable, effortless, and relaxed working style.
Because Arran’s passion is making films, his ethos embodies slow and intentional work. This means he only takes on a very limited number of weddings each year, ensuring that each couple is given his full and undivided care and attention. In addition, he values privacy and discretion, choosing not to share couples wedding moments on social media.
If you and your partner are getting ready at the same venue, then I can usually film you both getting ready. If you are both getting ready at different locations, I can usually only guarantee that I’ll film one of you getting ready. However, if we can make it work logistically, I’m always happy to try to capture both of you. There’s also the option of adding a second videographer to make sure we can cover both locations for you.
I travel anywhere in the UK, but I’m afraid I no longer travel abroad for weddings. You can read more about my commitment to sustainability here.
I’m actually planning my own wedding at the moment, so I know how overwhelming it is trying to compare the endless packages and options and fine print. So my approach is to just give you everything that I would want if it were my own wedding:
Each wedding requires a lot of attention to detail, and that process can take time, especially during the busy months. That being said, I try to ensure that your video will be ready within 16 weeks.
Because I know how important your wedding day is, I only take on a select number of weddings each year to ensure that I give each one my full and undivided care and attention.
Have you ever felt so happy that you never wanted the moment to end? Well that’s what I aim to do with your wedding film – I capture the day using state of the art equipment so that you can relive those happy moments again and again for the rest of your life. Once the day is done, I pour my heart and soul into editing your film, spending weeks perfecting a film that’s sure to evoke some emotion (re: tears) in both you and your friends and family.
After every wedding, I immediately back up everything I recorded that day onto an external hard drive. Then, when I get back to the studio, I back this up again onto another hard drive; for good measure, I also back it up to a third hard drive, which is kept off-site. That way, if anything happens to my local physical copies, there’s always another backup somewhere to make sure your footage is ALWAYS safe. You can read more here.
Unfortunately not, no. On the one hand, it’s illegal, and there’s always a risk that the label who produce the song will take action through civil or criminal courts for making unauthorised copies of their songs and for loss of revenue. For that reason, I do not use commercial music in my films.
Secondly, choosing the perfect music for your wedding film is an important part of the creative process for me. The right song can make or break a wedding film, and so it can sometimes take me days to find a soundtrack that will draw you into the film and tie in with the visuals, the narrative, and the audio to ensure your film has maximum emotional impact. For this I use a database of independent music producers who I pay to license their music (don’t worry though, the cost of licensing their music is included in my costs).
