Start the next chapter of your love story with a one-of-a-kind wedding at Wookey Hole…
Wookey Hole Caves boasts some of the most beautiful rock formations in England, with a choice of three chambers; this is an unusual and magical venue for your civil ceremony wedding.
Surrounded by clear pools and soft candlelight, you can make your vows in caves carved by the River Axe over millions of years. The largest chamber can hold up to 100+ guests, however, the caves are also intimate enough to offer a ceremony for just a few people.
The Water Wheel Suite is also available for above-ground ceremonies. This unique and elegant function room is located in Wookey Hole’s 17th-century Grade II listed Paper Mill. The suite features exposed brickwork that gives the space a rustic, welcoming feel. This is also a smaller reception room in the evenings for numbers of up to 80 guests.
The venue also boasts a delightful restaurant, which can seat up to 250+ reception guests. The restaurant is fitted with colourful ceiling drapes, fine chandeliers, and lovely decorative mirrors and includes an adjoining bar.
Overnight accommodation for you and your guests is available at the Wookey Hole Hotel, or Mendip View Hot Tub Lodges, situated within easy walking distance of the caves and restaurant.

I have been working, designing and managing weddings for nearly 11 years now, at Wookey Hole and it has been the most magical place I have ever worked. I am with every couple from early in the morning till they have had their first dance on the dance floor and will assist you with your designs, planning, and preparations to make your wedding day a lasting memory.

We really wanted a venue that reflected us and had something for all our guests to enjoy, and Wookey Hole was the perfect fit (plus it was cheaper than other venues we had looked at, which meant we could afford to get married on a weekend). Steph's communication was good and we only had one hiccup, which got sorted in the end. We and our guests loved the mini golf, games, food, caves and the venue overall, and so did we. We got married at Wookey Hole and it really was the perfect venue for us. We really wanted a venue that reflected us and had something for all our guests to enjoy, and Wookey Hole was the perfect fit (plus it was cheaper than other venues we had looked at, which meant we could afford to get married on a weekend). Steph's communication was good and we only had one hiccup, which got sorted in the end. We and our guests loved the mini golf, games, food, caves and the venue overall, and so did we.

We were both able to relax and get swept along with the day. We wish we could do it all again, and maybe we will with a renewal. The tables and room looked even better than I envisaged and lots of people commented on it. The caves also looked so beautiful. Lucy was so calm and everything ran so smoothly. I had no idea how much everything over ran until people told me the next day. That must have been stressful for the team but they did not show it! We really did have the perfect day and we are so grateful to Lucy & the team. Thank you also for the lovely frame. Lucy is amazing at organising everything and did a wonderful job of ours. The staff were brilliant and so helpful. The caves itself was a wonderful experience and you can choose which chamber is best for you. We chose chamber 3. We had some lovely finishing touches from Wookey like a bottle of bubbly in the room, a lovely gift and card. And speaking of the rooms, it was made out beautifully with red petals. Hopefully you'll be able to get some ideas from my pictures. The whole experience was done to perfection from start to finish.I can highly recommend this place if your looking for a unique wedding. Lucy was extremely professional yet made you feel like you were the only wedding she was helping to organise. The cave was just stunning and decorated exactly as asked. The guides to take you through were lovely. Our canapés, pre dinner drinks and entertainment were wonderful and went down very well with the guests. We had the hog roast and it was delicious. Our bar staff were just so friendly and lovely to chat with. The whole wedding experience itself was perfect. We wouldn't change a thing. The only "negative" is the actual hotel itself. It just lacks any atmosphere. So as long as you realise all you will do is sleep and get ready there you'll be fine. If anybody asked me would I recommend wookey as a wedding venue I would 100% say yes. We had 100 guests for the ceremony and wedding breakfast which we had a hog roast. Beautiful food. Then for the reception when the soft play and penny arcades were opened we had an additional 63 guests. Was amazing have family and friends to share it with. Yes we had a few hiccups but the staff were quick and professional In ironing them out and solving them. Lucy is amazing and will help in anyway she can and the staff that she had on for our wedding were all great and enjoyed themselves knowing we were enjoying ourselves also. I would totally recommend Wookey for any wedding or celebration the staff are all friendly and will go above and beyond to help in anyway they can. The lights and tea lights in the cave made it feel magical and romantic and it is something completely different. My guests are still talking about it now to their friends and family. The reception room set up was lovely and so much is included in the package. You can always add things on that they hire out or bring your own. They are so accommodating and reassuring I couldn’t have asked for a better venue for our wedding. We also had the soft play and penny arcades. I didn’t get pictures of them but awaiting my professional ones. I wish I could re live the day and do it all again. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
We recently had a wedding where the couple's main priority was the entertainment for the guests, so they went all out! They had an amazing 5 piece walking band, Circus workshops in our theatre, Marryoke, a Photo booth, Juggling acts and stilt artists from Wookey Hole's Circus, Elvis Impressionist, and wacky décor. It certainly was a fun and extravagant day to remember!
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Let us do the hard work. We want to make your day as magical as possible but also as relaxing for you as a couple. Many of our packages will handle a lot of the "extras" for you, leaving you both to unwind and relax on the big day!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
My managing director had offered to drive the bride to entrance of the Caves , due to bad weather conditions, which saved her hair, make-up and dress.

Unique, entertaining, Magical, Beautiful, and Memorable
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
I’d have to say it would be by the exit of the River Axe from the caves. The sheer cliff front is breathtaking with the sound of the trickling spring water.

What’s your favourite canapé?
Fresh salmon and cream cheese on crunchy toast! Simple yet so tasty!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Oh, that's a tough one, but I'd have to say cheese board with all the trimmings. Wookey Hole Cheese is the best midnight snack!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Where to start? Getting married in a cave surrounded by 400 tea lights might be the highlight, but to have so much entertainment at your fingertips adds the fun to the breathtaking.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
I’m proud of my team. We have the same end goal and we all work really hard to ensure we achieve it.
