Located only thirty miles south of Edinburgh, thirty-five miles from the airport, and within an easy two-hour drive from both Glasgow & Newcastle, Wedderlie House is not only easily accessible for all of your guests, but is also situated within one of the most idyllic parts of the country. Sitting in the famous rolling hills of the Scottish Borders, the Wedderlie House grounds provide the beautiful backdrop that will make your day truly special. The main 16th Century mansion house and castle are set in a private sixty acre estate where guests can enjoy an entirely private experience surrounded by friends and family. The estate offers accommodation for around 55 people spread between the main house, our cottage, the hayloft and cabins. All events are tailored to the individual requirements of each couple or group. The average rental runs for two nights and three days, allowing guests to properly catch up and relax in the stunning Borders’ countryside. Included in every booking is access to all infrastructure onsite including the main house, cottage, hayloft, two beautifully refurbished barns, a huge dining/danceing lodge to sit up to 160 guests; 60 acres of grounds, gardens and lawns, sports courts (if you're feeling particularly active), peacocks, an arcade and more! It is a newly refurbished, breath-taking venue with a historical twist. The current owners being the first since the 13th century to open the house up to the world. Many of our couples are "Ones a Scot, ones not", taking advantage of Wedderlie's central location in the UK. There is plenty of additional accommodation round and about with excellent taxi provision for guests not staying onsite. We really try and include as many elements as possible in your booking, as standard. We don't have hidden fees and we pride ourselves on being extremely open and supportive with every couple. We want you to be excited about your wedding weekend, no need to stress this. Wedderlie is a big friends and family venue with no "package" options. You get everything. Kamile, Chantel, Jamie and the rest of the team went above and beyond to make our entire weekend perfect. They are there for everything to make sure it all runs as smoothly as possible. No request or question is too much and they are the friendliest bunch of people who genuinely enjoy what they do, and love this venue. The venue is absolutely amazing, no faults there! The team at Wedderlie are some of the kindest and hardest working people I've met. We were very lucky and had a phenomenal experience with all of our suppliers, but wanted to shout out the Wedderlie staff even louder! They worked with us on all the details and small adjustments we wanted to make the weekend the exactly us. They also made sure it ran so smoothly despite very adverse weather and made it so relaxing for us from an operations POV on the day. Couldn't recommend them enough and such a beautiful venue. The team are so responsive and helpful, we worked mainly with Kamile and Chantel to organise our day. They made sure everything ran on time, exactly as we wanted it, and we had a day where we didn`t need to worry about anything at all. After being massively let down by another house, the staff at Wedderlie were able to get the house ready for us with under 24 hours' notice. We had planned an outdoor ceremony, but unfortunately, the Scottish weather was not on our side. Kamile was great, and we were able to wait to see if it would clear up, but chose to move the ceremony inside, and it was perfect. We wanted a venue where everyone could be in one place and enjoy the full day, and that’s what happened. The tennis court was well used. Unlike some other DIY venues, tables, chairs, and glassware were all included, which made things so much easier, too. Planning with our coordinator, Chantel, was an absolute breeze. On the weekend itself, the Wedderlie team were the dream team - everything ran so smoothly. It was amazing to work with a family-run business that genuinely cares. The venue itself is beautiful, with a ceremony and reception space that’s gorgeous even undecorated, making it a perfect blank canvas to make your own.
