Upper House is a historic castellated fortress set within the tranquil and intimate surroundings of 30 acres of private woodland. Standing alone on the magnificent mountain of Kinder Scout in the Peak District National Park. The sweeping driveway to the front of the property drops away to a breath-taking view of Kinder Reservoir. These incredible surroundings create a truly outstanding backdrop for your special day.
Wrapped around a stunning central courtyard, Upper House comprises a Medieval Banqueting Hall, an original Inn, gardens & luxurious accommodation for up to 28 guests. It’s long history is the truly fascinating, Upper House was the secret hideaway of the biggest industrialists, politicians, royals, authors and intellectuals from the the turn of the 20th Century, & later was where Agatha Christie came to devise her legendary plots.
Isolated in the 6,000 acre Kinder Estate in the North West of the Peak District in Derbyshire, Upper House feels a world away from anywhere. However the house is conveniently located from all amenities. The house is just 45 minutes drive from Manchester City Centre and Airport; 28 miles from Sheffield and 50 miles from Chester.
This venue has been described as one off Britain’s hidden treasures & one of the wedding industry’s best kept secrets.

For your Weekend Wedding arrival is from 15:00 on Thursday until departure at 13.00 on Sunday. You may wish to add activities to your weekend on this arrival day, perhaps with a shooting experience in our licensed woodland grounds, or a walk on Kinder from the doorstep. Or guests can simply relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of the surroundings and make the most of the house and of course, the company on this special weekend together. Guests may enjoy a sumptuous dinner on the terrace overlooking their private Reservoir, or in the house dining room. Guests can retire to their luxury bedrooms at their leisure, and find our complimentary Kinder Spring Water at their bedsides, luxury towels, slippers and bathrobes, alongside Bath House dispensable in all of the stunning bathrooms on the Friday before the big day on the Saturday. The Wedding Day may then begin in each of the five resident kitchens within the house itself, allowing you to get ready for the day ahead at your own pace and in complete privacy. Artisan teas and coffees are available to help yourselves to. Now its time to bring everyone together in the Entertainment spaces to enjoy your special celebrations, your dedicated wedding co-ordinator will help you plan your special day throughout your booking process. Say goodnight to your non resident guests at 12:30am, and why not carry on the party in the house. The finally enjoy a leisurely morning post wedding with a 13:00pm check out on the Sunday.

In the run up to the day, Georgia was an absolute saint in ensuring that all of our questions were answered and worries expelled.On the weekend itself, Andy and Karen went above and beyond in all that we asked of them meaning that us and all of our guests had the best time. It is the most beautiful venue with wonderful staff, extraordinary rooms and incredible attention to detail. When we first visited Upper House we were blown away by how beautiful the venue is and also by the amazing views. The venue is immaculate and there are so many stunning details which you notice each time you visit. Our guests had an amazing time here and we have had so many lovely comments about our day. Georgia, Nicola and Ellie couldn't do enough for us throughout the planning process and also throughout the day itself. It was very refreshing to meet owners of a venue that genuinely want you to have the best day and make you feel so welcome. This venue is not your typical 'wedding factory' which is extremely rare and a unique find. If you are thinking of visiting Upper House we are sure you will absolutely love it. Nicola, Georgia and Paul, from the start you were a huge help and easy to work alongside before and on our wedding weekend. I felt a massive sense of sadness when we left, I think it was because I knew I wouldn’t be coming up to Upper House anymore to visit the beautiful venue and plan my dream weekend.
