The Caves, The Rowantree & Marlin's Wynd are romantic and atmospheric wedding venues situated in the Heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. We only offer exclusive use so your wedding day will be even more special. Our venues can cater for the whole days wedding experience with Marlin's Wynd suitable for 40-50 day guests and up to 120 in the evening, The Rowantree suitable for 50-70 day guests and up to 110 in the evening and The Caves can accommodate 70-150 day guests and up to 200 (or more!) in the evening.
Our venues are completely unique and like no other as they have been created out of Edinburgh’s underground history. Built into the arches of the 18th Century South Bridge, we have preserved all of the original features from terracotta floors to old taverns and hidden Wynds. From the moment you walk through the door you will be blown away with our modern facilities blending perfectly into the old features, providing an unforgettable atmosphere and giving you the romantic and exclusive day that you have been dreaming of.
The city centre location of the three venues means the venues have lots of accommodation within walking distance so your guests can enjoy Edinburgh and it's offerings.
Our dedicated Wedding Team will ensure a smooth running of your Big Day from start to finish, providing advice and guidance to accommodate all of your wedding queries along the way. With a reassuring attitude they are friendly and understanding making sure all your needs are dealt with efficiently and effectively! We pride ourselves on fast responses and as we are only a small Team you are treated with that personal touch!

Your Wedding Breakfast is such an important meal as it's your first as a married coupled, therefore we pride ourselves on both quality and presentation of the highest standards producing the most mouth-watering meals. All of our catering is done in-house and our Head Chef makes sure that all of our food is locally sourced and sustainable.
We offer a mouth watering selection of canape options for your Drinks Reception and for your Wedding Breakfast we have traditional three course menus with tea/coffee and in The Caves we also have Banquet menus that are that little bit different. Our menus can be made even more delicious by adding on a cheese course or petite fours!
In the evening we have lots of delicious options for you and your guests to enjoy such as a carving station, hot dogs bars, finger food buffets with items such as homemade pizzas, homemade pies and wraps, cheese boards, circulated hot rolls...
All of our venues have fully stocked, permanent bars which come with bar staff included. As our venues are fully licensed we do not offer corkage.

We love it when a couple falls in love with the venue from just seeing it online and book without even viewing and they have the confidence in us and the venue to create their perfect day! What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
So many of our couples have had wonderful personal touches to their Big Day, such as Disco balls incorporated into their flower displays for a couple who loved a party, to a Bride walking down the aisle with her two dogs following behind as bridesmaids.

Depending on the venue..... The Caves would be The Foundation Room which is just beautiful and steeped in Edinburgh history, The Rowantree is famous for its Cow outside and means you can capture some great shots on the Cowgate of Edinburgh and in Marlin's Wynd the romantic staircase leading into the Main Vault which is covered in gorgeous fairylights!

Lots! But we are not allowed to say unfortunately! But trust us you are in good hands!
What’s your favourite canapé?
We have sampled them all and they are delicious but if you are looking for something tasty with a Scottish twist then the chorizo and pork, quail Scotch eggs are amazing! But we also love some of the vegan/vegetarian options too, always happy to give recommendations!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Scottish Stovies and Mac n Cheese always hit the spot after a few drinks and ceilidh dances! But our Beef, Lamb or Hog Roasts are very popular, along with some midnight pies. The dogs bar is something a bit different as well.
What is Unusual Venues Edinburgh- The Caves, The Rowantree & Marlin’s Wynd most unique feature?
The fact that they are so historical and steeped in so much Edinburgh history, no barn, hotel, or other wedding venue is like ours! We love how the stonework can look so beautiful and romantic combined with all the candles, fairy lights and lighting that our venues are full of.

Our Team and the hard work and genuine care that goes into each and every wedding that we host. We are just a small team but everyone works their socks off behind the scenes!
